beautiful, sometimes we forget that miami is exploding all over the place

the hyper denisty looking south blows ur mind, makes u wonder why traffic isnt at a total standstill, so crazy!

wouldnt a streetcar line goin down collins from south beach up to north beach and past make sense, i mean, it would b acessable for the whole beach ( i mean the beach is only a few blocks wide) and this would link all of miami beach together, totally eliminatiing the need for cars if u live on the beach

ive heard peope say that theres three places in the us that u can live without a car, new york, chciago, and san fran, well if they built a streetcar line, or light rail for that matter, u could add miami beach as a forth

great pics street, ur such a treasured member of the forum, lol, keep it coming!

Great shots.
Thanks for the update on Aqua as well. I hadn't realized they were that far along. They're looking really good. Let's hope for more developments like that in Miami.

Aqua looks awesome, really makes that whole area dense and built up. They really need to get the transportation on the fast track otherwise its only going to hurt things.

Thanks guys...Aqua is surely beautiful and I agree, we need more of those in South Florida

As for transportation, I think we all agree that Metrobuses just ain't gonna cut it! Baylink needs to be put on fast track and extended to surfside or at least North Beach!

streetscapeer
October 15th, 2004, 12:32 AM
Baylink would be a magnificent urban addition to the lifestyle of Miami Beach and (soon the Miami core)

i agree, baylink is perfect for miami beach. it's hard to believe that there are people who are actually against it, but i've grown used to that kind of ridiculous thinking.

on a different note, has anyone seen this building on miami beach?
http://www.viracon.com/where/7.jpg

it's the salick cancer center that's part of mt. sinai on the beach. i love the multi-colored glass that was used. the reason i bring up this building (besides the fact that it's a cool building) is that i wish we'd see more use of different colored glass on the towers that are planned for all of miami. wouldn't marinablue be stunning if the blue & green glass on it were the same shade as the blue & green glass used on the above cancer center?

i'm assuming, though, that the blue will be the standard blue color that we're seeing on a lot of the buildings these days. not that it's a bad color, but there's plenty of it out there now. i'm really curious to see what the green will look like.

anyway, sorry to get off subject. just had to get that off my chest.

streetscapeer
October 19th, 2004, 02:43 AM
that building looks pretty sweet skydive, it's eclectic...however I feel that these colors would be too striking for such a large tower as Marina Blue?

These creative/moody colors look awesome on a small scale, but IMO, can become uber-tacky when applied to a massive structure!....We'll see though, ya never know!

nimbyhater
October 19th, 2004, 02:55 AM
i agree wit street... these can be nice sometimes... but often come across as very tacky... though ive seen it done nicely sometimes...

im not saying always use the same color glass... but stick to one per building... make one building all green glass, or blue glass, or w/e, but when combined, they just dont look good

streetscapeer
October 21st, 2004, 12:51 AM
^^ that's true if a building the size of Marina Blue used only one of the colors shown in the above pic, it'd prob be fine....but two colors I don't think so!

Streetscaper: Awesome Pics. One correction though. The building you identified as "Fountainbleau 2", accross the street from the 6000 Indian Creek is actually "The Residences at the Bath Club". The project is a super-luxury condo tower developed on part of the site of an old beach and tennis club, called the Bath Club. The club was sold to developer R. Donahue Peebles, who raized a portion of it and built the condo tower in its place. Fountainebleau II, (now Fountainebleau Tower) is actually 20 blocks south at the Hilton Fountainebleau Hotel.

south florida dave
October 21st, 2004, 03:41 AM
rx & nimby,

when you click on "reply", you'll have a bunch of options just above the dialog box that you type in. the little yellowish box (just below the font size drop-down) is the insert image option. use that to add the images.

you can only add images that are already online somewhere. once you found the pic you wanna post, right click on it, go to properties & then highlight & copythe address (url). once you've got it copied, click on the insert image button & paste the url into the box. the box starts you off with the http://
so make sure you don't have that part in twice if you already copied that from the pic url. when you hit "ok" it'll show the pic you're inserting in the dialog box with a [img] before & after the pic url. that's it. enter down a couple times to the 2nd or 3rd line if you wanna add more pics.

i couldn't figure it out in the beginning either.

hope this helps.

ChuckScraperMiami#1

Good Question Renner :) , ITs the same Contractor that built the PORTOFINO TOWER on South Beach, PINNACLE TOWER In Sunny Isles Beach, and LAS OLAS RIVERHOUSE Condo tower in Downtown Ft.Lauderdale, ITS GOT TO BE CHASE Construction Company, Because the NAME CHASE is on the TOWER Construction Cranes. This 6000 Indian Creek Tower will be Awesome , and One of the LAST Tallest Towers Built on MIAMI BEACH.

ChuckScraperMiami#1
November 11th, 2004, 05:49 PM
ITS OVER NOW, :) but I'm watching the show still, South Florida TODAY, and this man was mostly talking about Buildings that were built in the Early years , LIKE the CASTAWAYS Motel in Sunny Isles Beach that was completetly Knocked down :bash: , which the WRECK BAR there was an ART DECO Finished Building completely destoryed :bash: by the Developer. Also WOFFIES Coffee Shop is all gone and could be Bulldosed :bash: , He's got a book of all th ART Buildings in South Florida that are going to be gone :bash: if They don"t Stop the Developers, Including the Carrilon Hotel, in the Canyon Ranch Condo PLANS, ITS a ART Building thats GOT TO BE SAVED.

more modern

streetscapeer
November 11th, 2004, 08:44 PM
Yeah..I don't how I feel about this...I feel that North Beach should become modernized, since it's already alomist there!...but further north in Surfside there are many old structures (old 3 story condos and motels) that I feel should stay. There's plenty of room up there to build. They should integrate the new stuff with the old to make a more cohesive urban environment!

nimbyhater
November 12th, 2004, 04:44 AM
its simple, keep the good old ones... bulldoze the crappy old ones for better new ones... just that simple, well actually not that simple, actually its endlessly complicated, but still, the idea is sound

November 12th, 2004, 08:23 AM
Yeah...it is a very complicated question. At one time, they wanted to bulldoze everything on Ocean Drive. Without OD, there would be no historic district, and Lincoln Road would not be the same.
The guys name is Randall Robinson, and he has a nice coffee table book out.
I'm not sure if I dig on the MIami MOdern MIMO architecture, but if it turns out that I do in 25 years, I'll be very thankful that they preserved it!
If in 25 years I still think its goofy, we can bulldoze it then!!!
