View Full Version : Petition | Extend Krystallklars height!
Galro August 9th, 2011, 09:41 PM I've have now made a petition to support the extension of the height on the proposed Krystall-building (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=708658). I have suggested to extend the height from the proposed 100m to 150 in order to not create a completely flat skyline when seen from Ekeberg - the angle from where most people will experience the highrise for their first time.
The difference between the official proposal and my suggestion can be seen in this diagram made by Marshol (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/member.php?u=135825). KLPs proposal is close to to the building mass in diagram A, where the lack of height diversity when compared to the two highrises that already stand there makes it appears like a 100m wall. My suggestion is closer to part “B” where we have added some height to the proposed building, and the then added diversity in height makes whole skyline appears less massive despite the fact it is actually higher.

marshol August 9th, 2011, 11:44 PM Great initiative! Just found a small trykkleif I guess you'd like to correct
Vi ønsker derfor å heve høyden på det planlagte høyhuset til 150m og dermed skape støre høydeforskjeller mellom byggene for å unngå dette.
Fjordbyen2015 August 10th, 2011, 01:20 AM Nice one! Signed, of course :)

I don't think it is possible to edit the petition now that I have made it. At least I can't work out how do it. If it was possible then I also would have included a link to this tread to explain the case better.
It would also be nice if you (the users here) could share the petition with friends, post it on facebook and perhaps other forums where you are members of in order to get the word out. I will try to the same myself.

Have you tried to mail the makers of the site, to see if they can edit for you? The illustration tells more than thousand words for people, not very into this. Could maybe said something about the effect it gets by making it taller too, as it will make it feel less colossus.
Galro August 10th, 2011, 02:31 PM ^^ I have sent a mail now, but I doubt it is possible to include pictures on the page as I have yet to seen any petition with pictures in them.
I guess it is best to link to this tread if you want to share the petition with anyone.

Tin_Can August 10th, 2011, 07:13 PM You should try to advertise this campaign ;) If some newspaper or website posts an article about your petition, then you might get a greater change of succeeding.
As I've said before,I would like to see Krystallklar higher and I'm sure that many foreigners & locals feel the same. Anyway,I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys :)

Oh I will. I only have to wait until I gain a few more signatures (seems more serious then) and until the vacation is fully over.

Feel free to sign my petition then. I see no reason for limit it to only locals.

It's not something I care about that much, but it would be nice with a tower that stands out more.
Wish they would go with some more interesting architecture though, less boxy more like something Burj Khalifa-ish.
moveteam August 11th, 2011, 11:09 PM Signed! 61 and counting.
Galro August 12th, 2011, 01:53 AM ^^ Thanks. 63 now though.

Galro August 12th, 2011, 04:29 PM ^^ I do not recognize all the names so I don't know if some members have signed the petition and not said so in this tread, but I can at least send some PMs to the ones that haven't said anything here in the tread.

mjoks007 August 16th, 2011, 08:13 PM I noticed Yimby hasn't advertised for this petition yet. Should at least link to it on twitter..?
marshol August 16th, 2011, 08:26 PM Oh I will. I only have to wait until I gain a few more signatures (seems more serious then) and until the vacation is fully over.
I guess Aftenposten Aften will be interested.
Galro August 16th, 2011, 08:29 PM ^^ Yes, I am planing on telling them to, but I think I will wait a couple of weeks.

starkwell August 22nd, 2011, 06:01 PM on an almost related subject, and for want of any other place to ask - who should i vote for in the oslo election thing that supports tall buildings (ideally getting rid of the beggars at the same time)?

Probably FRP, but I think you should vote Høyre ;)
Galro August 31st, 2011, 04:37 PM Okay, I thought I would start a facebook thing for the case. But what's the difference between a page and a group and what fits best to this? I'm no pro at facebook.
;)
marshol August 31st, 2011, 06:25 PM Side er nok det beste her. Da kan folk trykke "liker" og bli oppdatert på saker og ting. Bra til å markesføre et produkt eller en sak.

Galro August 31st, 2011, 06:35 PM ^^ Is this a side or a gruppe? http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=204035299656791
Something close to that would probably work.
Þróndeimr August 31st, 2011, 06:42 PM ^^ thats an event.
I am trying to make a page for Skyscrapercity Norway right now.
Good or not? Skyscrapercity Norway (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Skyscrapercity-Norway/144697235622152)
Galro August 31st, 2011, 07:43 PM ^^ I gave it one of these:
http://flagglima.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/facebook-like-buton.png
That's a page, right? What advantages does it have over a group?
Þróndeimr August 31st, 2011, 07:48 PM ^^ in a group you have to be a member, get invited or press join to be approved there. A page is the best option for us i figured.
I am about to figure out how to make an announcement, as soon as its done ill have a link up on top of Norway and Oslo o the Facebook site. :)
marshol September 5th, 2011, 01:27 AM 100 is great!
But how's that facebook page going?
podline September 10th, 2011, 10:03 PM who is this petition made for? who will you send it to?
Galro September 12th, 2011, 12:06 AM who is this petition made for? who will you send it to?
KLP (the developmenters behind the project), the news papers (to get some publicity) and then perhaps some of the people in the city council.
:)
IceCheese October 21st, 2011, 04:18 AM ^^Why so shy about it? Waiting for someone else to pick up the news?:D
OnTheNorthRoad October 21st, 2011, 01:42 PM What news?
Edit: Nice! Finally the nimbys get some competition in the media!
Great job. Also a respectable number of signatures building up.
muster October 21st, 2011, 01:56 PM Ah, I found it! (http://dittoslo.no/nyheter/vil-ha-150-meters-bygg-pa-vaterland-1.6557808)
BTW, great job Galro!
marshol October 21st, 2011, 07:15 PM Great job indeed! Erling Fossen has also signed :)
INFERNAL ELF November 1st, 2011, 06:48 PM Signed good luck
Galro November 2nd, 2011, 04:32 PM ^^ Thanks!
Does anybody know anyone that works at Aftenposten/other newspapers? I have tried to contact but to no prevail. I'm starting to wonder if they aren't interesting in giving the more pro-development side some airtime. :shifty:
muster November 2nd, 2011, 04:49 PM ^^ Thanks!

I know two journalists that used to work there like 10 years ago.. And I had the father of kultur- og debattredaktør Knut Olav Åmås as a teacher in highschool. Not sure if any of these things helps..
I guess you could write a "debattinnlegg" and send it to Åmås. That is a start. I'm also sure that you would get more media attention if there were more people signing the petition. At least 1000 people is needed before the media cares..
marshol November 2nd, 2011, 06:50 PM The forumer northdiesel just had a debate contributions in Aftenposten last week. Maybe he knows something.
Got the pdf from AF this morning if it's of any use:

Galro November 3rd, 2011, 03:05 AM I'm also sure that you would get more media attention if there were more people signing the petition. At least 1000 people is needed before the media cares..
Yes, probably. But I also need a way to advertise it in order to get 1000 signatures first.
IceCheese November 3rd, 2011, 03:24 AM ^^Yes, but I think it's sad. 40 protests from Grønland torg about the current suggestion, and you would have "Nabolag i harnisk over høyhusforslag" og "Her skal det kommunale pensjonsfondet bygge monster-tårn som vil skyggelegge hele Grønland".
Galro November 3rd, 2011, 06:07 PM ^^ Sad, but true. I have lost count on how many articles I have seen against some development. Even for small stuff like infill projects. Perhaps I and my campaign would be seen as more credible if I used the Yimby name and account?
Tin_Can December 11th, 2011, 01:07 PM So how's it going? Any lucky with getting some media attention to petition?
Galro December 14th, 2011, 04:16 PM Sorry for late answer, but thanks for showing interest.
I have already been interviewed by one (quite small though) local paper here in the city. I've tried to contact all other major ones but no one seems interested in covering anything beside nimby stuff and I'm not completely sure what I can do further to be honest. So I guess it goes rather badly.
Þróndeimr December 14th, 2011, 04:21 PM ^^ most newspapers want articles concerning those who are against projects, especially highrises and expensive projects such as the Munch Museum. They don't bother much about those who are for, since they cause less trouble...
Galro December 14th, 2011, 04:28 PM Yes, you are apparently right. Such a shame though. It does begs the question on how much of this nimbys here in the city is actually real and how much is just constructed by the papers interviewing a few people who are against everything.
