Lake Palace (formerly known as Jag Niwas) is a luxury hotel, of 83 rooms and suites featuring white marble walls, located on a natural foundation of 4 acres (16,000 m2) rock on the Jag Niwas island in Lake Pichola, Udaipur, India. Hussain Sagar (Telugu: హుస్సేన్ సాగర్) (Urdu: حسين ساغر) is a lake in Hyderabad, India, built by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali in 1562, during the rule of Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah. It was a lake of 24 square kilometres built on a tributary of the River Musi to meet the water and irrigation needs of the city. There is a large monolithic statue of the Gautam Buddha in the middle of the lake which was erected in 1992. .

Does it have to be cities only, there are lots of lakes in India that are nowhere near cities. Beautiful lakes of/in India seems a better title IMO

Cochin Lakes

The city of Kochi is bestowed with several lakes, backwaters, lagoons, harbour and river streams, all making it an Amsterdam of East. The longest lake in India- Vembanadu Lake meets Arabian sea at Kochi. In addition, Chilavanoor Lake is one of the most beautiful lake in the city, making it hotbed of realty ventures. :cheers: Yep! Nothing can beat those lakes of Kashmir Valley. Dal Lake of Shrinagar is in a league of its own in terms of beauty.

This stunning lake is the centre-piece of this hill station . You can hire horses or cycles and go for a ride along the 5km perimeter or go boating or just sit and enjoy the view and the lovely weather.
