Nice find skybean...I especially find the one where all the office buildings have their lights on to be a really cool shot....rarely are all the buildings lit up at once like that.

That's the CN tower during window washing. It involves a long ladder and a pulley system. The whole top comes down and the windows are washed.

That structure just left of Scotia Plaza is the Hospital for Sick Children's incinerator. It might also house back-up power systems, I'm not sure. It's north of the CBD just east of University Blvd behind the HSC.

Good work Skybean! Those photos are awesome. They must have been taken from Stoney Creek or Grimsby I would imagine - either way the distance is 54 - 55 km. as measured with Garmin's Mapsource!

But this shot isn't as good as those 55km shots. Must have been taken from Hamilton area, as someone already mentioned. Heck on a clear day when I was driving down the QEW towards Buffalo, I could see the skyline if I looked closely enough and if it was a crisp, clear day.

1 Harbourfront alone, as shown in that last shot, could be the downtown of a medium sized city.

2 The other remarkable thing is the area around the CN Tower and the Dome -- that area changes very dramatically every 10 or so years. It's quite something.

sp!re, you strike me as a recent migrant to Toronto. Am I right?

This a future shot I found of the tallest (Bloor to Lake) slice of the N/S skyline, which continues north about 3 or 4 miles.

CN is 1800+ feet and the main cluster is 1000+ to explain the scale.

From what I can see everything added is either under construction or approved, except Sapphire, which of course wants to be much taller than shown here

Wrong, The glassy building is Ryerson's new Engineering building completed in late 2004, the Rogers communcation centre is across the street with the bridge leading to it

I had classes in it before it was finished

on the map it is "ENG Centre for Computing and Engineering"
Ryerson is building like a bitch lately, there are 4 building under construction right now, plus when metropolis is finish they will use the theartes as classroom in the daytime

Whoa, I really like this picture. I've have seen similar ones but this one is wider angle view so it includes the CN Tower and Skydome and it is not as dark so alot more details can be seen so it looks so much better. One of the best shots of downtown for sure.

PS: i don't believe the 4th pic is from the 401 and Yonge. The only eliptical/curved tower there that I know of is the spectrum towers and they're green, but that would probably be how Meridian would look like. I think that would also be Ellipse.

When you upload the photos, they are saved onto the servers with Imageshack. They are given a web address (URL).

1. Click the thumbnail of the image after the upload.(A new window will open with the enlarged view of your photo.)

2. Right Click the enlarged picture. Select "Copy Image Location"

3. In the reply box of the forum, paste the URL inbetween


Paste Here


Note: If you click "Post Reply" there is also a mini-icon with a picture which you can click which will automatically force a box to popup for you to paste the URL, so that you don't need to type tags. This is the lazy man's method.

I would simply cut that forum specific URL from imageshack's page and paste it into the text box area where you usually write your posts. Don't worry about the script prompt... in this case the image is properly coded with the ... tags so it's not necessary.

Now if you are grabbing an image that is already uploaded on the web then you need to add the [IMG] tags as Skybean suggests.

I would simply cut that forum specific URL from imageshack's page and paste it into the text box area where you usually write your posts. Don't worry about the script prompt... in this case the image is properly coded with the ... tags so it's not necessary.

Now if you are grabbing an image that is already uploaded on the web then you need to add the [IMG] tags as Skybean suggests.

Nice pics...but it was a terrible day to take any pictures....it was way too hazy....then I was on my way to work this morning I couldn't believe my eyes....and when i went on break this afternoon....I could not believe the temperature outside...so hot today

Yep you got it Partybits, I entered that in the UPC, hopefully will be better then my other entries. The haze today was just awful, anything other then close-ups turned out below-standard.

Went out agian today, but it was still too hazy, but I couldn't turn down the point of view of the city I found, one of of those spots where I wish I had a better camera. I'll go again later in the year and maybe make a pano from all of the pics, enjoy!

I should really walk around campus with my camera, so many beautiful things.

Good pics man, but today was the smoggest day so far this week, lol. Starting tomorrow or Thursday it should be much better.

Yeah the haze today was way too bad, I finally take my camera out and I get two bad days of really bad haze. I'll shoot from there again when it cools down,and when there is realatively little haze. Yes, these were taken from Robarts, but from where I took them you must be a student, or faculty. The view from there was the best I have ever seen, 180+ degrees of pure skyline from west of Cityplace all the way to possibly Spadina, I was in awe.

Best of luck then. It's a great shot I must say. You managed to make a fairly bulky building look much more slender by catching a small segment of it. The curves look really wicked from that angle too.

Thanks, I also entered the one where the view is straight up, and includes The Td Centre and BMO, it seems to be doing pretty good and I actually might have a chance to get nominated finally.

Btw, I think I just saw the single most beautiful view of Toronto's core. Staring at downtown on Dundas around Lansdowne in the Portuguese area. You see a large church, then Dundas lined with those beautiful old buildings and then a slight depression in the street - then downtown rising at the end of Dundas, actually the central core with BMO in the middle
I think it's simply gorgeous, I'll take a pic one day if I ever bring my cam there.
