Hi people,i am starting a new thread,this time related to Industrial clusters.
While poring over the google map/wikimapia images of other cities in India,more than their planned cities and townships,i was struck the their planned industrial areas.Particularly Ahmedabad,Mumbai,Noida,Gurgaun,Pune etc.Huge industrial areas with rows and rows of SMEs,in a very planned,developed area.These areas are usually outside the city with good connectivity and adequate infrastructure.No wonder investors make a beeline for them.
In Kolkata i tried to find such industrial clusters and surprisingly there are quite a few.Although in size and scale they cannot be compared that to other cities,and like everything else in Kolkata they are scattered here and there in an unplanned manner.But in recent times and looking over older google maps we can see that a large number of new factories have opened around the city.
These cluster only show probably 50% industrial activity.There are tons fo ther smaller factories in Kolkata city area,Howrah city,Taratolla,B.T road,D>H road,Bantala leather area,Tiljala etc

Dankuni,beside the new highway and the old highway.There is a massive plant of Bhushan steels here.

Barasat-Sodepur road,this area and its surroundings is growing fast industry-wise.The Keventer-agro plant is a few kms from here.
