Three qualifiers and you can log in and vote. I think it is pretty much for New Taipei City citizens.

Is it just me or does A LOT of these designs feature weird and abstract mountain-like curvatures mimic-ing nature seem really pointless and a waste of space? I don't get why THIS is the new style. There are ways to be green really without having to look like a mountain, or tree, or hill I mean seriously, it's expensive to build and very unfitting - not to mention unrealistic. What a waste of competition funds. Maybe they should add "feasibility" into the criteria

yes the last one "green cell" is really too literal and somewhat vulgar and obscene looking - they worked too hard to make it literally into a tall mountain.

i don't know what's going on in the first one at all. it's just a top view of a bunch of different shaped black boxes. no color renderings at all or other views of the design. it looks like a hot black mess! dont know how they even got selected. :dunno:

i like the second one "field of dreams". the way it blends into the hills is more subtle but more abstract than literal.

so of course the taiwanese folks voted for the vulgar mountain design with 49.3% of the votes. not surprising i guess...sigh... :ohno: maybe they are hoping it will cover up taipei 101!!

surely the people of new taipei city don't mind a green erection in their backyard no? i'm curious as to why there is a competition for this in the first place? ying-ge already has a ceramic museum.

it's the politicians lol, as they assume a massive museum (in this case, erection) will surely bring economic prosperity to all lmao (the more museums the better).

I find thread in taiwan-city forum and I make quick overview .
Government is actually planning a lot of development in Ying ge. more than what I thought.

It looks like they call it Shan Ying Art Village.

seems to me all the people voting are just voting to see how much inaction there is going to be. Remember that competition in Taichung? The one with Helium balloons as elevators and looks like a giant windmill that houses a maximum of 50 people? YEAH.

Forreals, the people voting in these designs doesn't seem to know that it's their tax dollars paying for this sh*t, and they're gonna bitch and complain about not having money and that gov isn't doing enough.

I think we should vote for the worst one.. then the city wont pick that one and will pick another one instead! Reverse psychology.... wahahaha!!!

it's the best of the other two finalists. and i like how it blends into the park-like environment instead of just another man-made structure that sticks out on a landscape.

I am Taiwanese dude. I just said that I am about to go back to Taiwan. I live in Africa and I love it here. Cape Town deserves the World Design Capital for 2014 because we put a lot of effort into the event. the IDA congress in Taipei announced the Design Capital today and it was Cape Town :) Was so happy about it. If you guys have the chance, you should visit South Africa and most importantly Cape Town. The culture, diversity, city, architecture.. Everything is spectacular... Trip Advisor doesn't lie... I've visited USA, England and Germany, but no cities beat the beauty of Cape Town and its people.
