View Full Version : Miami Skyline will get better and bigger by 2010.
VansTripp October 17th, 2004, 04:49 PM I can't wait for project to be completed. I remember that, Miami in 1980s have been heavy project in downtown for hispanic ecomony booming. Popular tourist come to Miami since 1980. You need play Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on Playstation 2. :)
Miami will going be growing more high rise skyscraper and modern building. I wish that, Crime need going down as much percent. Murder in 2002 for Miami was 60 per year. It need going down to 10-30 per year in 2010. It does same in NYC and Los Angeles.
Does Miami seem rudest city ever?
ChuckScraperMiami#1 October 17th, 2004, 04:54 PM BLINK, :) To tell YOU the TRUTH, I rather RAISE my KIDS and Wife here in MIAMI, than a CITY that LOST ITS ANGELS some 20 YEARS aGO, I mean L> A> is alot more RUDE than MIAMI EVER WILL BE, MIAMI HAS CHANGED, DID L.A. Changed , I don't think so.
VansTripp October 17th, 2004, 06:46 PM BLINK, :) To tell YOU the TRUTH, I rather RAISE my KIDS and Wife here in MIAMI, than a CITY that LOST ITS ANGELS some 20 YEARS aGO, I mean L> A> is alot more RUDE than MIAMI EVER WILL BE, MIAMI HAS CHANGED, DID L.A. Changed , I don't think so.
Nah. Los Angeles was not bad about rude but not only for Hispanic. (Any race can be rude though) If you thought that, Los Angeles have more rude then means you have bad day with people. People in Los Angeles was pretty good and polite to me. Toronto is more rudest bigger cities ever.
Jasonhouse October 17th, 2004, 07:07 PM ???? I must be missing something in the translation. :)
nimbyhater October 19th, 2004, 02:17 AM looking at the miami skyline thread with pictures before the 1980's and the way the skyline has grown since then, the dramatic difference, i can only imagine how different the skyline will b by 2010, it wont be recognizable, on par with some of the greatest in the world, truely world class
ChuckScraperMiami#1 October 20th, 2004, 01:50 AM TRUE NIMBY, :) By 2010, its True, YOU WILL NOT Reconize MIAMI , if you haven't seen it for 6 years, What I'm saying is, If you were here in Miami THIS FALL to Visit, And Never came back to MIAMI to Visit Until the FALL of 2010, and also Never seen a PIC of MIAMI in that 6 Year Period, You Will Never Believe that the City you see then in 2010 was the MIAMI that you visited back in 2004. All the New Condo Towers will BLOCK THE VIEW of the NOW Miami Towers from the I-395, Dolphin 836, and I-95 Expressways, By 2010, There will be OVER 12, -500 FOOT PLUS CONDO TOWERS JUST North of THE MIAMI RIVER to the I-195 JULIA TUTTLE Expressway. And Another 10, -450 FOOT PLUS CONDO TOWERS JUST South of THE MIAMI RIVER in the BRICKELL AREA, This CITY of MIAMI , Will be by 2012, THE CITY OF THE FUTURE !!!
OneTwoThree_ October 20th, 2004, 07:04 PM more bigger?

MIAballinboi October 20th, 2004, 10:07 PM ^before making fun of him, you should have seen that he said he was deaf,

nimbyhater October 20th, 2004, 11:32 PM shut up 123!
jdnn November 26th, 2004, 07:03 AM ???? I must be missing something in the translation. :)
Let me help you with that... it's a lot easier if you sign the words -- you'll totally understand everything.
Nah. Los Angeles was not bad about rude
but not only for Hispanic.
-- LA is not rude except toward hispanics --
(not only for -- only not toward--> LA is not rude but only not toward Hispanic --> (double negative taken out) LA is rude but only toward Hispanics.
(Any race can be rude though)
-- only a side note --
If you thought that, Los Angeles have more rude then means you have bad day with people. People in Los Angeles was pretty good and polite to me. Toronto is more rudest bigger cities ever.
-- the rest explains itself pretty well. it isn't hard to understand it really if you look at how the words are placed together and understand the possible implications. Being deaf does lots of wonders and of course, the education system in America for the deaf really blows -- and it's been bad for so many centuries due to the lack of accessible forms of communication especially between teachers and deaf students. Hopefully that'll change soon with new technology and better government action. Traditionally the Democrats support the deaf community because of their support with ADA, IDEA, and other legislations that have proved to be positive.
Anyways, I've always heard that California was pretty rude, but for sure I've heard of a lot of racism in Toronto, surprisingly. Houston, where I'm at, is a very friendly place and I love it a lot. Miami may seem to be ruder sometimes, but I believe it's the mask of culture -- Some people think the Miamense are rude but what they're really seeing is a cultural difference in the way how people interact with others. In truth, Miami is a very tolerant place --> which makes it a friendlier place as well. The same can be said for the infamous attitude of New York.
ChuckScraperMiami#1 November 29th, 2004, 03:50 AM Didn't Rodney KING say, " Why Can't We all JUST Get Along ??? "
bobo December 30th, 2004, 01:32 PM I doubt the skyline will look much different, to me this city is getting more and more broke by the day...I see areas of the magic city detiorating all the time. Miami is poor. I wish the skyline would become much bigger and better but Im staying pestimistic for the being time.
Yes Miami is full of rude people. But there are always nice people across the street from the bad people :)
streetscapeer December 30th, 2004, 05:12 PM I suggest we all just ignore the previous post!....don't waste your time:):)

Sure, It same in Florida, It seem pretty rudest city ever in Miami but why was not Tampa or Jacksonville? If you think CA is pretty rude so you have bad day with them then take over time so you will be fine. CA have less rude people than other state.

jzquince69 December 31st, 2004, 09:16 PM I met a chick who told me she hated Chicago. Turns out, she visited a friend on the South Side, got mugged, and had her purse stolen.
bobo January 1st, 2005, 12:52 PM Happy late New yrs Senor Chucky Cheese :D
ZuluKingOfTheDwarfPeople January 1st, 2005, 09:09 PM Rude if you dont know Spanish...
14k January 2nd, 2005, 06:38 PM I don't get this beef between L.A and Miami. Floridans keep saying it's a better place to stay and bla bla..may be so, but in L.A.C i never hear anyone talking about it.
My point is they're very different and uncomparable.
smiley January 2nd, 2005, 08:00 PM Maybe some Floridians (namely a few guys from Miami) keep talking about it, but most don't care much at all.
nimbyhater January 2nd, 2005, 09:29 PM I met a chick who told me she hated Chicago. Turns out, she visited a friend on the South Side, got mugged, and had her purse stolen.
my parents grew up in chicago, like any other city, they all have bad neighborhoods, seems like every1 that lives in chicago has gotten robbed on the south side at least once, lol, including both my parents (man if u could hear these stores)...
miami just wants to be able to say that its on the same level as LA to be able to compare itself to it... but they arents, totally different, LA is the second biggest city in the US and miami just cant put itself at that level, and realistically will never b able to for at least 50 years
Roark January 3rd, 2005, 08:50 AM ...they really dont do shit for a city cept fill a few hotel rooms for a few days, i challenge the average person to name the cities of the last 5 super bowls, the dont focus on the city at all... we get maybe three or four skyline shots rite b4 they go 2 commercial, and a shot of the stadium from the blimp... it helps, but nuttin to change the entire nations persona of our city, get real guysNimby...go find a girl whose father works for a company that employs 100 or more people in Miami. If you can find one that employs 25,000 people nationwide or more that is even better. Now, once you do that, see if you can get invited to a SuperBowl hospitality tent, either on game day or any of the 7 days leading up to the game. You with me? Now, talk to the people in those tents, and try to ascertain what kinds of decisions that they make on a day to day basis.
Think of the sponsers...for every sponser, there is a party at the game, and undoubtedly, 50-1000 employees/attendies to each party.
I appreciate your challenge to ask the "average person" where there last 5 superbowls were, but if you ask some above average people, like the kind that employ 100's or 1,000's of people, I'm betting you will find that they will know.
Average people sit on their arse and watch from the sofa, so, in that regard you are correct.
But consider that when the city hosts a good party, which highlights community, livability, services, and amenities; the people that make things happen don't forget. They may relocate their entire business, or at least have a convention/conference in the host city. Apart from the immediate impact, there is longstanding residual benefits.
If you get shy and don't want to talk with the decision makers of corporate America, you can always have a great time at the parties raiding the buffet or hitting the open bar...they won't care if you are only 15! Oh, and if that girl has a sister...
streetscapeer January 3rd, 2005, 12:19 PM ^^^haha...good one!
jzquince69 January 3rd, 2005, 06:00 PM LA is too big. Miami metro has 1/2 the population of the LA smsa. Comparing cities to each other is like apples and oranges. Technically, LA may have the 2nd highest population in the US, but Chicago's downtown is at least 3 times as massive and dense as LA's. In fact, overall, Miami metro has more "skyscrapers" than metro LA. (emporis- buildings at least 12 stories tall). Chicago's overall skyscrapers usurps LA's by an even greater margin.
LA is a phenomenon in industry and transportation since the seventies. plain and simple. Miami is a major hub to the Americas, industry and transportation, and home to the very wealthy with exclusive neighborhoods as well. LA has Hollywood which has been a major catalyst in its development for decades.
Miami can definitely hold its own without a question. LA's geography have made it what it is today- major port city; cargo; immigrant city; etc... Miami has similar status- and with the economic rise of the Americas, Miami will undoubtedly take a leap forward. LA had the advantage early on of being a major gateway to Asia and the South Pacific.
SayHelloToMyLilFrein May 24th, 2006, 04:18 PM I have traveled to many cities houston Chicago New york La San francisco Portland Seattle you name it.I Love Miami with all my heart. Its my city. But the sad reality is that Miami is the rudest city in this country 'thats if you consider it even part of this country" lol.Look at the crime rate for example its much worse than new york and La.it was also voted the rudest drivers in the country. It was also voted the most stressful big city in the nation. It was also voted the poorest big city in the nation not to far back.Even though it is one of the most expensive to live in Look at one of its suburbs it has the highest violent crime rate of any city in the united states point blank.Opa-locka look it up facts dont lie.If you look at the metro area population its fifth only following new york, LA ,chicago, and philly.soon to surpass philly in the next few years. So it does compare.Keep in mind the population does not include the estimated 1/4 illeagal aliens.I love Miami though. It has its ups and downs just like all cities. Before any one gets affended and starts pointing out my poor writing skills and spelling lol remember i love this city.Thank god the goods of Miami balance between the negatives. No place in the states are people so open about their own cultures.no place in the united states can you go to the beach on christmas. No city has the invisable energy and magic of Miami. this city will overcome all obsticles as it always has.for example hurricane Andrew. What major city has had to deal with a catagory 5 hurricane? To be honest all of these obsticles will eventually make us the best city in the nation and its just starting to happen. :)
SayHelloToMyLilFrein May 24th, 2006, 04:30 PM Iforgot to mention aspecially to the last post before mine Miami has the biggest cruize ship port in the world the second buisiest airport in the united states the largest outlet mall in the united stated it has more high rise buildings than LA in the metro area only third to new york and chicago. It also has the biggest tourism industry in the country next to new york city.Look up the facts on the net. They are true.Dont under estimate My city.
rider_of_rohan May 24th, 2006, 09:38 PM Miami wasnt voted poorest city, its a statistic that was pointed out. There are other places you can go to the beach on Xmas. I have pictures of me standing on a hill in short sleeves and 70 degree weather with no snow in South Dakota on xmas day.
Miami is my home town and its a large city with a lot of energy and financial pull now days. I would by lieing if I said I wanted to move back there though. In fact if I had to list the top 10 cities I would be willing to live over 500,000 Miami wouldnt make the list. Never the less I do care about what happens there and I want it to prosper.
ChuckScraperMiami#1 June 4th, 2006, 10:17 PM lol, u must have just had a bad expiernce in miami thats all, dont worry by 2010 it will get bigger and better just watch!

SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 6th, 2006, 08:58 PM ........first off congrads to chuck. to rider of rohan..... yes thats true Miami was rateted as the poorest big city by fact sorry for my wrong choice of words. Miami has tops the list in crime, poverty, traffic, and language barriers. If we could solve these issues Miami with its location could become the greatest city in the world.Though our skyline is huge it could be even bigger. thank the faa for that. though we do have in the area of 250 miles of city train rails. metro rail, people mover, and tri rail its not enough for this huge city....................It will soon be extended dramatically which is going to help us alot.Alot of people might not like this comment but its true. There is to much of a language barrier. To many people dont speak english here. Please dont missunderstand me im not racist.I am of latin descent cuban and puerto rican born in Miami. When this issue is brought up it always creates alot of argueing and even fighting among Miamians. My family came from cuban and puerto rico many years ago and they all know english and only speak english in public.its commin curticy to the american culture thats been here for hundreds of years both white and black.I think its wrong for many americans to have to leave their homes because to many people comming in and refusing to speak english.Think about it America would never have become such a great country that everyone wants to flock to if there was this language barrier that Miami has.Im not saying that people should give up there cultures or language.Im saying respecting american culture and language is a must in order to make this city more funtional and an over all freindlier place. The problem is to many people continue to spit on the american culture when invited to there country.Would you spit on my floor if i let you in my house? """think about it"""
SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 6th, 2006, 09:10 PM My overall point is two of the most important and best ways to make Miami a better city is to extend the city train system and also encourage and teach people english that arrive here from other countries such as south america cuban and haitie. This should have been done along time ago but its never to late.
ChuckScraperMiami#1 June 7th, 2006, 02:04 AM SAY HELLO :) < your HOT :) !!!, my friend Good Points :) ,

SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 7th, 2006, 02:45 AM ..................... gator if your refering to me im not sure but im sorry i did not mean it I admit it i have bad spelling skills. I hope this does not affect my respect on this site.I did not attend the best of schools lol...........................That is my down point. I do have alot of information that many people dont know.I also love Miami and am passionate about it.I respect every ones opinions and treat all with respect. If i disagree i will say it but in a respectful and open manor.I love people and love it almost as much if they respect what i have to say................................................I am good at expressing my opinions and love to do so.I beleve my opinions are very real and alot of people would agree. I also know alot about facts and prove to show helpful information to many people on here who ask questions and want to seperate reality from fanticy.ahhh being a bad speller stinks lol
SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 7th, 2006, 03:05 AM to chuck thank you for the compliments I really do my best on not being afraid of expressing my thoughts and doing research to inform people on here of facts.I enjoy informing people because thats what im good at and i like helping people.Yo keep posting my freind. Rx727sfl2002 June 7th, 2006, 03:10 AM people in america need to learn spanish
in every other country around the world two languages are taught to students in school why is it that in america people only speak one language?
its never to late to learn to speak another language besides english.
I REALLY FIND YOUR POST AND COMMENTS TO BE A BIT OUT OF HAND

SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 7th, 2006, 03:56 AM First off I knew some one would over exagerate and flip out when all i did was mention the word latin people and the spanish language in Miami. lol im used to it.race is a color not a culture. im latin myself. "think that over buddy" A fact you may not know is all humans are from africa in the begining.new york is not Miami dont ever forget it. thats why they flock here ha ha. They also hate on us so much apeacially when it comes to rap music. The reason because the first Rap artist to sighn a major record deal was from Miami.luke from 2 live crew. As far as you saying people in america have to know spanish lol thats much more extreme than any opinion i ever made, thats for sure.try telling that to people elsewhere in the united states lol .As far as cultural issues such as the latin population i think Miami is way ahead of nyc or any other city for that matter as far as cultural issues dealing with latin people.I have to add i never made a state ment affensive to you in any way why do you try to affend me? Also you put words in my mouth. The reality is one language makes a more sence.true or false? comunication is key true or false? think a little harder amigo.I will back my statement up again people invited to america with open arms should respect Miami natives that have lived here for generations here. How is that racist?
SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 7th, 2006, 04:00 AM head for the hills me lol never i was born and raised in the county of dade and you got to shoot me first.im not giving up like so many people that where born and raised here like me .look up the numbers on how many people where chased out this city by immagrants.its sick.
SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 7th, 2006, 04:03 AM my family is of immagrants and so is my wifie that had a son with me.Nothing wrong with them but there is somthing wrong with the ones that dont respect americans culture and language after they are invited on american land.
SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 7th, 2006, 04:04 AM gooooooo canes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gooooooo heat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! goooooooo marlins!!!!!!!
SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 7th, 2006, 04:18 AM people are people from another country or not.people disrespenct and respect no matter what nationality or where they are from but only fools bite the hands that feed them.hey rx 727 you are entiteled to your opinion and i respect that thats why your in the united states right? Just relax guy and respect my opinions.lol you gonna have to shoot my before i leave my city "Miami till i die"!!!!!! grrrrrr
Rx727sfl2002 June 7th, 2006, 05:54 AM OK HERE IS A SHORT HISTORY LESSON
AMERICA WAS INHABITED BY NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS WHOM DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH
THE INDIANS WHERE FORCED OFF THERE LAND AND BASICALLY ERADICATED
SO IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT RESPECT WE SHOULD THEN BE SPEAKING NAVAJO OR SOME OTHER INDIAN DIALECT OUT OF RESPECT FOR AMERICA...
AS FAR AS THE INVITATION GOES I DONT RECALL THE INDIANS EXTENDING AN INVITATION FOR ANYONE TO COME OVER AND RAPE THE PLANET THE WAY AMERICA DID INDIANS TOOK FROM THE EARTH ONLY THAT WHICH THEY WHERE GOING TO CONSUME AMERICA IS EXCESIVE THEY CONSUME MORE THEN THEY CAN HANDLE. HOW MANY GARAGES FULL OF CRAP DO YOU ACTUALLY NEED? HOW MANY CARS OR SUVS? HOW MANY TVS IN EVERY ROOM? HOW MANY LIGHTS NEED TO BE TURNED ON AT ONCE IN A HOUSE? HOW MANY SUBURBS MUST WE BUILD?
THIS IS THE AMERICAN DREAM THE AMERICAN CULTURE THAT YOU REFER TO?
FRANKLY I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR ANY (IMMIGRANT) THAT DOESNT KNOW MORE THEN ONE LANGUAGE I JUST SEE HIM OR HER AS A CLOSED MINDED INDIVIDUAL AND WHEN I SAY IMMIGRANT IM REFERRING TO AMERICANS ALSO
BECUASE AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED AND HISTORY IS CONCERNED THE TRUE AMERICANS LIVE ON A RESERVATIONS WITH THIER OWN RULES, LAWS, GOVT.
SO PLEASE CUT THE CRAP ON HIALEAH OR LATINS THIS IS A FREE FOR ALL COUNTRY NOT MINES AND NOT YOURS AND NOT THE SO CALLED AMERICANS (JEWISH, ITALIAN, IRISH, SCOTTISH, BRITISH, DUTCH, FRENCH, AFRICAN, HISPANIC) SETTLERS OF THE PAST OR THE MANY OTHER DIVERSIFIED SETTLERS OF THE PRESENT WHICH ARE MEXICAN, HONDURAN, NICARAGUAN, COLUMBIAN, CUBAN, HAITIANS, DOMINICANS, AND SO ON...
SEE ITS PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT DONT UNDERSTAND THAT AMERICA IS BASED ON IMMIGRATION AND WE EITHER ALL BELONG HERE OR WE ALL BELONG BACK HOME AND THE TRUTHFULL HEIRS OF THIS LAND ARE THE INDIANS.
rider_of_rohan June 7th, 2006, 06:17 AM The "Native Americans" actually migrated here from Asia. There are no truely native Americans. Humans are not naturaly from the Americas at all, we are all conquerers.
Rx727sfl2002 June 7th, 2006, 06:24 AM WELL THEY WHERE THE FIRST INHABITANTS OF THIS LAND GIVING THEM SQUATING RIGHTS
I FOR ONE RECALL THAT THE OLDEST CITY IN AMERICA IS ST. AGUSTINE FLORIDA AND THAT IT WAS FOUNDED BY THE SPANISH.
BUT ONE NOTABLE FACT IS THAT AMERICA SHOULDNT EVEN BE CALLED AMERICA SINCE THE GUY WHO DISCOVERED IT "SECOND" WAS REALLY NAMED ALBERIGO AND NOT AMERIGGO...REALLY THIS IS ONE F@CKED UP LAND WE LIVE ON... READ BELOW IF YOU WANT TO BE ENLIGHTENED ON A BIT OF REAL WORLD HISTORY.
http://muweb.millersville.edu/~columbus/data/art/COHEN-01.ART
100% humedo June 7th, 2006, 09:35 AM Well, America(United States I mean) has some holes in it's story and eventually they'll be fixed but right now I would too consentrate on the language issue.
That's good start.
people in america need to learn spanish
in every other country around the world two languages are taught to students in school why is it that in america people only speak one language?
I have no clue why United Statians have it that way, I just know it's wrong.
In FL/CA about half of the population(more than just half in the two biggest cities) speak spanish as their first language. Just that alone is a good enough reason to learn the language, second it's a very beautiful language and third it's been spoken all over America and in the roots as in Spain ofcourse.
But I already see some progress. Alot of stores have bilingual staff, there are spanish tv and radio stations etc etc and the way Miami keeps on growing it's going to get colonilized by the spanish language at some point :D
It's all just a matter of time.
ChuckScraperMiami#1 June 7th, 2006, 12:28 PM Well Everyone :grouphug: , This Topic we are on is really pushing Us the Miami  Forum way up over the competitive that was very close to us , and like the great Rodney King :nocrook: saying back in 1992 during the Los Angeles Riots,

Well anyway, Keep up the Posting here in this On going DEBATE :righton: !!!
and the Boss  is watching us , so no bad words :nono: , LOL.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention :omg: ,
There's a " GUN " :gunz: :hammer: :gaah: Show this weekend at the Coconut Grove :okay: Convention Center, lol, I think its the right time to buy a Bazooga :guns1: :horse: !!!, lol, did I spell that right ??? :dunno:
DGM June 7th, 2006, 02:26 PM Lol, it's Mr727hyde2002 again. I don't really see how European conquest has anything to do with whether we should be speaking Spanish or not. Sunk costs, my friend. I personally believe that the American education system needs to be improved in many ways, including teaching second languages more thoroughly. I suppose I am a sort of hypocrit because I never learned Spanish. But, I made efforts and was mostly just the victim of incompetent teachers. Also, is anyone else a little bit scared that there is a gun convention in the grove? I'm definitely staying away from Grand Ave for a few weeks after it.
Displaced Miami Man June 7th, 2006, 06:07 PM Here is my take, if I may... you want to have all Americans learn Spanish.. ummm what about the other immigrants that come into this country.. should the Orientals then have to learn both english and spanish? how about the Italians, French, Germans etc.. should they also have to learn Spanish? I feel that you should learn English when you come here.. period. if I go to another country should I not learn that language if I am to succeed in communicating with people of that country? If a bunch of English speaking people move to China and they start having a large influx of English speaking people there should all the Chinese living there have to learn English? NO. my opinions do not make me close minded, stupid, racist or whatever else you want to call it its common sense... if 80% of the population of a country speaks one language then the people coming into that country should learn the language of the majority the majority should not have to learn the language of the minority when my family came over from Italy they learned to speak English because that is the language of this country... doesn't mean they no longer practiced the culture of being Italian they just realized that to succeed here they needed to learn the common language there is nothing wrong with having one common language that we can all share im not saying the people speaking spanish should no longer use that language but why is it a stretch for them to learn to speak english? again this is my take call me what you want its just my opinion
Rx727sfl2002 June 7th, 2006, 10:31 PM the truth to the matter is just becuase they speak spanish doesnt mean they cant speak english...
my grandmother doesnt know how to drive a car but at 85 years old she speaks english and spanish yet she doesnt know how to operate a vcr...
truth be told she speaks spanish all the time and you would never know
unless you where to speak to her in english that she knows... its just ignorance to think that hialeah folk dont know the language... problem is a white person walks into hialeah and being that cubans are such a diversified race one would think that white person is cuban or from another latin american country. so yeah they are in a mess when they cant figure things out and think its rude or whatever they think when they get a response in spanish.
as far as all the other countries that visit here learning the language the fact is most of them know 2-3 languages jsut like all over the world you keep both your fathers and mothers last name while only in america they make you drop one which only makes it harder to do your geneology... only here do they have things screwed up they think they are making things easier by eliminating something or dropping something else but they are only dumbning up the country even more...
someone tell me where jakarta is at? or point me to brazil? seems this country is so centralized they dont know there is more out there...
Displaced Miami Man June 7th, 2006, 10:59 PM I work with someone that is from England and he has one last name. My family came from Italy... guess what.. one last name. Germans that I have known.. one last name. I have a friend whose parents came from Hungary.. guess what, one last name. The only people that I have ever met where the mother and fathers last name are used are of Spanish origin. So why is it that you feel it necessary to say "Only in America"? How many Canadian folks do you know that know multiple languages. I have known many Canadians and they know either english or if from Quebec they know French and some English. I have been to French Canada and to English speaking Canada so I know this from experience. I used to make deliveries in Quebec and most of the people I had to interact with knew no English at all. Are you going to bash Canadians as well? It's really getting old that people must continue to bash America. No, we are not perfect, but how many places are.
Rx727sfl2002 June 8th, 2006, 02:25 AM people that come here or migrated here lost there second name and its not only a latin thing. if your italian and born here most likely your last name is nothing like it was written or pronounced in italy...
doubleroll June 8th, 2006, 03:18 AM And the Miami skyline will get bigger and better :runaway:
It's getting there :banana2:
The more languages you know the better :)
It's all good
Displaced Miami Man June 8th, 2006, 11:56 AM ok no more of this language/political stuff... lets talk buildings (but for the record... yes my last name is exactly how it was in Italy)

SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 8th, 2006, 09:36 PM ........RX727 Im not saying every latin person does not speak english or respect american culture. My grandmother for example came here at age 9 as an orphan from cuba. Her parents where killed by the government in cuba.she still knows spanish but i have never heard her speak it. none of her 5 kids one is my father, ever where taught spanish.although many respect american culture and language there is a very large percentage people that totally disrespect american culture and language why do you think so many long time Miami natives are gone ?As far as native americans yes thats true they where first but they did not not originate here.Look up the facts the human race originated from africa.Native americans are people that i respect very much.As far as in florida they are given so many benifits its amazing.I wish i was native american. They do deserve it though.because of one language is the reason why united states is so successful and thriving.if there is to much of other languages in the united states what will happen is confusion miscomminucation a rise in racial tensions/crime and a drop in the economy.just all the things the city of Miami has been through in the last 35 years. You can say Miami is a model city of whats to come. Its not latin people remember i am latin. Its the ones that disrespect the very country that invited them here to live a better life.Remember some of the building boom has to do with latin american companies Miami can use latin culture as an advantage but many/not all have to learn to respect american culture. Rx i hear you out and I respect your opinions but im not sure your hearing me out!!! There is a high volume of People in Miami spitting on american culture. They make the latin people that do respect american culture look bad.
SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 8th, 2006, 09:41 PM ok :gunz: Enough about talking about respecting the Born natives of Miami now lets talk about the building boom in Miami.   :applause: :applause: :applause:
Rx727sfl2002 June 8th, 2006, 10:34 PM you need to look up ancient history dude, pompie places like greece where people spoke a multitude of languages it was mixed and was one of the greatest cities of old world...
one language keep us from riots? better economy? not sure i believe in that if that was the case we should then all be one race with one language and screw the rest...
well i suggest you start taking up chinesse since they are the majority in the world. as for disrespect to this country i really think the american english speakers are the most disrespectfull ones being that they cant understand or tolerate the fact that people are migrants just like them and when they came here they wherent forced to learn an indian tongue instead they kept there native language (english) what makes it right for america? maybe becuase the majority speak it well i guess yes that would make it right but what will happen when in the next few years the majority of the people here are spanish speaking whats to stop the shift being that all of south america is basically spanish and most of north america is almost getting there?
i mean as we see it latins tend to have 3-5 kids while americans have 1-2
so overall the latin culture might just outpace the english one...
seriously i would swear you hate being latin from the way you talk.... im glad i speak english but im also glad i speak spanish.
SayHelloToMyLilFrein June 8th, 2006, 11:02 PM Ancient history ? lol All humans originate in africa isnt ancient than what is?You have not heard me out .How can you say I dont like latin people? If i didnt like latin people lol i am one plus i married one plus my son is one plus the rest of my family is latin.I am pround to be latin. I am also proud to respect the american language and american culture. I have no respect for those running to america for help then returning the favor by spitting on their culture those type of latin people make the rest of us look bad to the rest of this country .enough said.for everyones sake in here lol ahhh stop the politics. I know this is Miami and its in our bood including mine lol sorry.but dang this is a building forum.Hey someone quick bring in the latest photos of the skyline.Hey I love all people latin white black whatever its really culture not color that seems to seperate us.Talking spanish in public obsesively is 100% disrespect to american culture you know it as well as i do.it makes latins that respect america look bad.
Rx727sfl2002 June 9th, 2006, 08:28 AM talking your native tongue is the most respectable thing you can do for your culture instead of running from it embrace it...
why should a person talk english? why change for the other person? why cant they change for you? what gives one more right then the other?
disrespect....you need to stop disrespecting drop the negative things about hialeah, language, and culture... and the fact that americans are just to lazy in general to learn another language much less cook a traditional home cooked meal. so lets not generalize here and stop it with the disrespect...
whats right to you is wrong to someone else...
and i for one along with many others will tell you that its taking a crap on your language not to talk your own tongue... you shouldnt have to speak another language all becuase someone is uncomfortable and being latin you should feel ashamed if your children or yourself dont speak your native tongue
that is basically turning your back on your roots and culture...
rider_of_rohan June 9th, 2006, 10:04 PM Geeze, take it outside
