Missoni To Design Manila Condo Building

(NEW YORK) Missoni is taking the notion of being a lifestyle brand even further and more literally with an upcoming luxury apartment complex in Manila. The collaboration between Missoni Home and the Philippines' biggest development company, Century Properties, will feature interiors splashed with the Italian fashion house's signature prints and punchy hues. “Our brand is an experience of happiness, excitement, beauty, creativity, style and elegance,” said Vittorio Missoni, a shareholder in Missoni S.p.A., in a statement. “We create our own style from the seasons of nature and we play with color; life is more beautiful with color.” Units at chez Missoni will start around $100,000.

This isn’t Missoni’s first time on the block in the real estate realm, though it is their debut residential project of a long-term nature. Ottavio and Rosita Missoni launched the Hotel Missoni line of chic home-away-from-homes with Rezidor Hotel Group in 2005. They have since opened branded outposts in Edinburgh and Kuwait, with locations in Turkey, Oman and Brazil poised to open by 2014.

The Manila condo development, which is yet to be named, is hitting the burgeoning Manila scene with at least one fashionable neighbor: Versace. Century Properties has already broken ground and started construction on the Milano, the 53-story property with a $68 million pricetag and a sure-to-be flashy spread of Versace furnishings, plus interior consulting by Versace Home. Manila has experienced a rosy economic forecast in the last year or so. This resurgence has included the arrival of retailers including Hermes and Forever 21 and projects like Versace’s Milano residence—plus another (equally as flashy) Century Properties-branded collab with Paris Hilton on a clubhouse concept for one of their existing condos, the Azure.

Missoni’s foray into the Manila real estate market does not yet have a timeframe for breaking ground or move-in dates.

MISSONI-PHILES, WELCOME HOME

Missoni has put its trademark chevron pattern to work across a hotel chain, Havaiana flip-flops, caftans, Bugaboo pushchairs and, thanks to an upcoming wallet-friendly collaboration with US retailer Target, even garden furniture.

Now, the family-owned Italian fashion firm is expanding into yet another product area: property. In the Philippines.

Missoni Home is collaborating with Philippines-based developer Century Properties on a luxury condo complex in Manila. The fashion group will design interior features in the complex, whose units will start from $100,000.

‘Century Properties is at the cusp of launching its collaboration with Missoni to build the very first residential building by Missoni Home in the world,’ Century Properties Managing Director Robbie Antonio said in a press release. ‘This is a testament to Missoni's strong belief in the prospects of the Philippines and the strength of our firm. With this collaboration, we are further pushing the boundaries of Philippine and global real estate alike.’

MD Marco Antonio added: ‘Both companies have a lot in common, working through three generations as a family, and possessing the values of passion, innovation and excellence.’

Century recently completed the Milano Residences, a 53-storey condo development in Manila with interiors by Versace. The company also has a design collaboration with Paris Hilton in progress.

Missoni unveils its first foray in to real estate
24 August 2011: Iconic brand to create homes

Why have a Missoni blanket or cushions when you could have an entire Missoni home?
Collaborating with leading luxury real estate developer Century Properties, the iconic Italian fashion house, has confirmed that it will design the interiors of a residential building in Manila, Philippines.
Luxury fashion-branded projects are on the rise as designer residences become the latest hot commodity. In recent years, brands including Armani, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli and Tommy Hilfiger have collaborated with developers in designing hotels and residences around the world.
Century Properties managing director Marco Antonio said of the one of a kind collaboration, “We are extremely proud and honored to be working with the Missoni family for one of our new projects. Both companies have a lot in common, working through three generations as a family, and possessing the values of passion, innovation and excellence. The Missoni brand has endured in the industry because it was not afraid to innovate amidst existing global trends. And like the Missonis, we aim for our brand to transcend future generations.”
“Missoni is both life and lifestyle” adds Vittorio Missoni. “Our brand is an experience of happiness, excitement, beauty, creativity, style and elegance. We create our own style from the seasons of nature and we play with color; life is more beautiful with color.”
The building’s completion date is 2015 so true Missoni devotees have time to save for their Missoni dream home.

Fashion Company Missoni Takes On Luxury Housing

Earlier this year, Jose and Robbie Antonio, the father and son duo behind Century Properties, a Makati City, Philippines-based real estate company, visited Forbes to discuss the Milano Residences in Manila. As if posh apartments touting private infinity pools didn’t provide enough amenity outrageousness for 53-story condo project, the luxe residential building’s interiors were designed by Versace.

About 75% of the building’s fashionable units, ranging in price from $100,000 to $2 million, have sold since hitting the sale block in January. Perhaps then it’s not surprising that Century Properties, whose founder Jose Antonio ranked 24th with $245 million on Forbes’ list of the Philippines’ Richest, has just announced another luxury condo collaboration with yet another iconic Italian fashion brand: Missoni.

Missoni Home, the housewares branch of the Varese, Italy-based fashion company, will design the amenities in a yet-to-be-named luxury condo complex slated for construction in Manila. The building’s projected completion date is 2015 and prices will start at $100,000.

Missoni Home is not new to commercial real estate. It designed the Hotel Missoni line with Rezidor Hotel Group, with hotels open or opening in Scotland, Kuwait, Turkey, Omanan and Brazil. But the collaboration with Century Properties marks the first time the fashion house is venturing out into residential real estate.

“Century Properties is honored to launch the first condominium in the world with amenities designed by Missoni,” says Robbie Antonio, managing director at Century Properties, in an email. “It was a natural extension for us to collaborate with Missoni given our predilection to further our portfolio of luxury branded projects as well as our goal of making Manila an international city.”

Fashion-real estate collaborations have become increasingly popular in recent years, with fashion brands like Armani, Gucci, and Roberto Cavalli signing up to design residences and hotels in cities around the world. In May, Tommy Hilfiger went into contract on New York City’s Metlife clock tower building for $170 million, with plans to turn it into a hotel. Antonio, whom oversaw the Milano Residences development as project head, says the fast-growing economies of developing countries like the Philippines proves attractive to fashion companies — one reason Missoni signed on for its first residential project in Manila rather than a famed fashion capital like New York, London or Paris.

The Manila real estate market has been bolstered by both local and foreign demand, asserts Antonio. He notes that luxury branded real estate like the Milano Residences and now the Missoni collaboration speak to the foreign buyers market. In addition to the Missoni condos, Century Properties has a number of “branded” projects in the works, most notably a design collaboration underway with Paris Hilton at the Azure condo complex in Manila.

The stripe-tastic branding machine that is Missoni has churned out hotels, a forthcoming budget line for Target, and, now, full-on buildings. Collaborating with developer Century Properties, the Italian fashion brand will design the interiors of a condo tower set to rise in the Philippines. It's the first time Missoni has ever worked on residences; no word yet about what the place will actually look like but we assume it will have nary a solid color to speak of. Soon, folks will be able to travel to and fro their Missoni luxury condo via their Missoni bike while wearing their Missoni Havaianas and then later relax on their Missoni patio furniture. It's their world—we just live in it.

Century Properties partners with Missoni Home

[August 23, 2011 Manila, Philippines] Two companies from opposite ends of the world, both rooted on the same foundations of a rich history, respect for family values and a culture of passion, creativity and quality, have forged a partnership for a one of a kind condominium development in Asia.

Century Properties, the Philippine’s foremost developer of luxury real estate, officially announced its collaboration with Missoni Home, the global Italian fashion and design brand, for a project that the former plans to build in Manila.

Missoni Home will create the interiors and amenity spaces of the new Century project, making it the first residential development by Missoni Home in the world. The firm’s Managing Directors Marco and Robbie Antonio are yet to announce the development’s name but confirmed that it is a residential building.

Century Properties chose Missoni Home to infuse its creative imprint into the unique lifestyle experience that it created for its new residential project.

“Century Properties is at the cusp of launching its collaboration with Missoni to build the very first residential building by Missoni Home in the world. This is a testament to Missoni's strong belief in the prospects of the Philippines and the strength of our firm. With this collaboration, we are further pushing the boundaries of Philippine and global real estate alike,” said Robbie Antonio.

The Missoni brand has endured in the industry because it was not afraid to innovate amidst existing global trends. And like the Missonis, we aim for our brand to transcend future generations.”

Feel At Home In The Philippines With Missoni

They're all about the collaborations this year.
Missoni Home is teaming up with Century Properties in the Philippines to design the interiors and amenity spaces of a condo building in Manila.
But for those who aren't looking to relocate, you can always Missoni-fy your home by shopping the fashion house's upcoming collection at Target.

^^ Haha, their Beef Misono, love it!

I have to admit though that I needed to look up Missoni when I first saw this thread as I seriously haven't heard of them before.

I'm a fan of the designs of Armani/Casa, I was actually thinking that after Versace (Milano Res.) would be a collab with Armani/Casa... until this Misono, eh Missoni pala came along.

This Missoni thing is pretty scary, would we see a rainbow-brite building with all sorts of funky paint jobs and patterns on the façade?

I think Versace..since it is a collectors item...no units alike in a floor..plus classy people owning it. Don't have the layout yet with Missoni..lets see what they can offer.

I really liked the design of the fully furnished units especially from an artists point of view. its something fresh. This is coming from a guy who feels that flourescent lighting is homier than incandescent. sometimes, colors do wonders in the morning, coupled with opened glass floor to ceiling windows. The morning sun and flourescent lighting gives justice to colors unlike incendescent which puts everything in a veil of piss yellow tint.
but don't listen to me, I sell condos for Century Properties, I want you to see for yourself :)
