Moscow? it has no skyline so far, is that a joke?
to be correctly - moscow has the largest skyline in europe. it is just so wide and so big, so you can't see it from any one point.

Lists are great no doubt but it's the architecture, the people and the context that make a good skyscrapercity.

Cities like Paris, London, Madrid, Vienna, Warsaw, etc. will very likely not be associated with skyscrapers. In fact the only true Skyscraperscities (as in being defined by scrapers) are Frankfurt and Rotterdam.

Let I put it this way: people a.k.a tourist don't go to cities in Europe to see skyscrapers...

Ohh well, maybe I can still fool myselves someday day it will :pet:

^^ Exactly. Moscow has a very big "skyline" without a very specific "centre", sometimes dotted with beautiful or ugly commieblocks (Depends on districts... I've seen some very decent area as well as very chaotic area)

Anyhow Frankfurt Am Main has a more impressive skyline. Istanbul come close--- amazed to see how Turks and Russians nowadays invest so much on skyscrapers just like we North Americans do.

Skyscrapers alone do not make a skyline, where as Hong Kong is Brilliant to look at it is not famous in any way, Dubai is unreal and breathtaking, not history since 1990
Liverpool has a mixture of highrise Modern and historical buildings with pleny new ones on the way, all over 100m, most special of all for me is not the Royal Liver Buidlings or any other 3rd grance it is the Anglican Cathedral. i post below 2 images of the worlds best Cathedral, the 5th tallest in the world, the tallest in the UK and the overall largest of all time

from the top of the cathedral you can see as far as blackpool, the lake district, Wales, Manchester. from the top the drop is only 331ft but above sea level that increases to over 530ft. it is one of the highest points in the northwest (structural, not land alone), this is only behind Beetham in Machester that is 700ft aboce sea level

london and moscow both suffer from not having a single skyline cluster. obviously this is changing in london... canary wharf area has 3x 100m buildings u/c right now, two of which will have a big effect. its very compact right now though...

Which two? Are you getting height confused with scale? The buildings to he left are all around 260-300ft, the yellow core rising in the middle of that cluster is a 40 storey mixed use development. In front of it a planning application has been made for a 36 storey tower. In all, there are over 30 tower cranes on the city centre skyline. How many can you spot in that one picture? Not much happening my arse!

^^I see the cranes :) but like i said i only see 2 buildings that are realy higher than anything else; for a city the size of Liverpool its not much,obivously im gonna have a look at the Liverpool subforum.

The angle and me not knowing Liverpool has alot to do with my comment ,clearly.

Not a significant competitor yet, but here it goes. 3 more commercial towers will rise in this location. Altogether there will be about 3 clusters, maybe 4. So it's pretty spread out.

Btw, Brescia is surprising! Didn't expect it :okay:

I would say that today, my rating is
- Frankfurt
- La Defense, London, Warsaw, Rotterdam

The rest are questionable. Tallinn has a very nice but small skyline. Moscow will have a magnificent skyline very soon, in 2 years, I beleive. Kyiv's skyline will be up there in 5 years.

naples looks so tall because the cbd is surrounded by 2 floor buildings! it does look damn good though until you know the tallest building is a mere 129m.

here's canary wharf... cant wait for them to build arrowhead quay... will make the biggest difference from this angle. you can see 17 100m+ buildings in this shot believe it or not. the cranes at the front are building a 71m tall. what i wanna know though is whether the elektron towers (7x 70m-ish) will be visible from here or not on the right next to ontario tower. i have a feeling they will obscure the city.
