Cities like Paris, London, Madrid, Vienna, Warsaw, etc. will very likely not be associated with skyscrapers. In fact the only true Skyscraperscities (as in being defined by scrapers) are Frankfurt and Rotterdam. Let I put it this way: people a.k.a tourist don't go to cities in Europe to see skyscrapers... Ohh well, maybe I can still fool myselves someday day it will :pet: BaalNamib July 10th, 2006, 05:52 PM True True Warsaw has the best contrast between old town & modern downtown. Photos from Vistula River are amazing. My rank: -Frankfurt -Paris (la Defence) -London -Warsaw coth July 10th, 2006, 06:21 PM ^you missed rotterdam. it is definitely on third place. ♣628.finst July 11th, 2006, 05:20 AM to be correctly - moscow has the largest skyline in europe. it is just so wide and so big, so you can't see it from any one point. ^^ Exactly. Moscow has a very big "skyline" without a very specific "centre", sometimes dotted with beautiful or ugly commieblocks (Depends on districts... I've seen some very decent area as well as very chaotic area) Anyhow Frankfurt Am Main has a more impressive skyline. Istanbul come close--- amazed to see how Turks and Russians nowadays invest so much on skyscrapers just like we North Americans do. ♣628.finst July 11th, 2006, 05:23 AM ^you missed rotterdam. it is definitely on third place. Jan's hometown... it's in the third place... or fourth place in my opinion. 1- London 2- Istanbul 3- Frankfurt Am Main 4- Rotterdam 5- Moscow 6- Paris La Defense 7- Other European skylines are not even worth to be in the list. 1878EFC July 11th, 2006, 01:16 PM http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/3091/skyline7qs.jpg (http://imageshack.us) ^^ Liverpool in around 2008 virg July 12th, 2006, 03:31 PM LYON: 2.6mio - Tour du Crédit Lyonnais: 165m - Tour Oxygène: 120m (2008) - Tour Société Suisse: 82m - Tour EDF: 72m - Tour CIRC: 72m - Tour UAP: 71m - Gratte-Ciel I & II: 65m http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/954/pano113ki7ib.jpg (http://imageshack.us) http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/2580/2y8c26u0vg.th.jpg (http://img129.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2y8c26u0vg.jpg) http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/8813/copie3decopiedepartdieudscn439.th.jpg (http://img227.imageshack.us/my.php?image=copie3decopiedepartdieudscn439.jpg) http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/5851/fev3hl.th.png (http://img129.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fev3hl.png) http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/7822/hauttour27yk.th.jpg (http://img161.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hauttour27yk.jpg) http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/9259/hpim42039do3mw.th.jpg (http://img161.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpim42039do3mw.jpg) http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/5365/lyon3vueaerienne9mp.th.jpg (http://img55.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lyon3vueaerienne9mp.jpg) http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/562/lyonphotos6yz.th.jpg (http://img56.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lyonphotos6yz.jpg) http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/4696/page3135eg.th.jpg (http://img111.imageshack.us/my.php?image=page3135eg.jpg) http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/8982/unbenanntsrtzu9yn.th.png (http://img160.imageshack.us/my.php?image=unbenanntsrtzu9yn.png) http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/2503/partdieu43jl.th.jpg (http://img160.imageshack.us/my.php?image=partdieu43jl.jpg) http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/2372/wrhtrh9ry.th.png (http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wrhtrh9ry.png) LILLE: 1-3mio - Tour du Crédit Lyonnais: 120m - Tour Lille Europe: 110m - Tour de la Cité Administrative: 76m - Tours Eurocity I, II, III, IV & V (2008): 59m - Tour Siège de Région: 57m http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/4662/1861021sn.jpg (http://imageshack.us) MARSEILLE: 2mio /!\ A new skyline will have been built in 2009 in Euromed district /!\ - Tour French Line: 150m (2008) (Zaha Hadid) - Tour SAS Suède: 130m (2009) (Nouvel) - Tour résidentielle: 130m or 100m (2009) - Tour résidentielle: 70m (2009) - Euromed Center: 70m (2008) (Fuksas) S.Yorks Capital July 12th, 2006, 03:51 PM Sheffield: Current skyline. http://212.67.202.205/~madeinsheffield/graphics/horizon.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f100/richiebabes/Sheffield/P6260038.jpg westisbest July 12th, 2006, 10:24 PM best skylines for skyscrapers 1.London 2.Frankfurt 3.Paris 4.Barcelona 5.Madrid Best skylines all round, skyscrapers, architecture, history etc 1.Liverpool 2.London 3.Rome 4.Paris 5.my back garden Skyscrapers alone do not make a skyline, where as Hong Kong is Brilliant to look at it is not famous in any way, Dubai is unreal and breathtaking, not history since 1990 Liverpool has a mixture of highrise Modern and historical buildings with pleny new ones on the way, all over 100m, most special of all for me is not the Royal Liver Buidlings or any other 3rd grance it is the Anglican Cathedral. i post below 2 images of the worlds best Cathedral, the 5th tallest in the world, the tallest in the UK and the overall largest of all time http://jonathan.rawle.org/pg/liverpool/images/anglican1.jpg http://www.**************************/night4/thumbnails/anglicanapril2.jpg westisbest July 12th, 2006, 10:29 PM from the top of the cathedral you can see as far as blackpool, the lake district, Wales, Manchester. from the top the drop is only 331ft but above sea level that increases to over 530ft. it is one of the highest points in the northwest (structural, not land alone), this is only behind Beetham in Machester that is 700ft aboce sea level renco July 12th, 2006, 11:00 PM Kod mene je sve ko suza (i na zemaljskoj i na satelitskoj)osim NET-a.Doduše on se emitira iz Kutine. gm2263 July 12th, 2006, 11:48 PM Stunning Liverpool!!! The buildings to he left are all around 260-300ft, the yellow core rising in the middle of that cluster is a 40 storey mixed use development. In front of it a planning application has been made for a 36 storey tower. In all, there are over 30 tower cranes on the city centre skyline. How many can you spot in that one picture? Altogether there will be about 3 clusters, maybe 4. So it's pretty spread out. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v489/mesofius/skyline066.jpg VelesHomais August 6th, 2006, 09:29 PM Btw, Brescia is surprising! Didn't expect it :okay: I would say that today, my rating is - Frankfurt - La Defense, London, Warsaw, Rotterdam The rest are questionable. Tallinn has a very nice but small skyline. Moscow will have a magnificent skyline very soon, in 2 years, I beleive. Kyiv's skyline will be up there in 5 years.
