THE ARCADIUM
Center for Dining & Entertainment
San Juan

Project
A design proposal made at the request of a Major Entertainment Venue Operator

Location
Main Business District, Hato Rey Ward, San Juan, Puerto Rico

Type of Project
Commercial

Design Parameters
A large enclosure with a flexible layout capable of housing at least three separate environments or concessionaires, an out parcel, a main bar, a serving kitchen, a service corridor, a small stage, dressing rooms, public washrooms and extensive landscaping, for up to four hundred sit down users.

Design Approach
A large tentlike tensile structure in woven stainless steel over an open platform, set across of a small stage and a backdrop of dressing rooms and public washrooms. The screen would provide shade and be a simple rain screen, also doubling up as a projection surface for videos and other images during the evening.

Our proposal strove to provide the largest enclosure with the least amount of structure, and sought transparent or translucent materials towards the towering backdrop of the "Coliseo".
