SkyscraperCity.com is a forum for the discussion and sharing of information about skyscrapers, and urban environments. You need to be a registered member to be able to post comments. Registration is free and by doing so, you agree to abide by the forum rules.
Forumers
1. Forumers should only have one account. Multiple accounts are not allowed for whatever reasons.
2. No spamming. Chain letters / junk mails etc. are strictly prohibited. Creating multiple threads of the same or similar topic is not allowed. While similar posts in different related threads are allowed, it is not encouraged. Repeated postings of similar pictures will also be considered as spamming. Such materials may be deleted.
3. No advertising. Threads of advertisement of any kind, including properties or websites are not allowed.
4. Threads should be posted under the appropriate subforums and in the correct format whenever applicable.

When quoting images, ensure that the image can be used under fair use and provide the source name and link with the image.

This is a general notice to remind all that quoting long and full articles from external sources is not the proper way to start a discussion or to use as an argument. The reasonable way to qualify as both 'fair use' and 'readable' when quoting outside news sources is to:
1. name and link the source
2. quote a maximum of about 100 words
Your news quote should look something like this:

6. Threads about city vs city / state vs state or the likes are not allowed. Such discussions within other threads are also strongly discouraged.
7. No expression of hate. Forumers making posts portraying racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia or any form of discrimination will be immediately brigged or banned.
8. Forumers shall maintain proper behaviour during discussions. Personal attacks, name calling, usage of foul language is a serious offence. Avoid off topic discussions, baseless comments and bigotry.
9. Sexual or obscene posts are not allowed if are not of educational purpose or irrelevant to an on going discussion.
10. Make sure signature is in accordance to the guidelines.
GUIDELINES:
Signature lines may be up to 5 lines of default sized (vB size 2) text , spaces included. (at 1024x768 resolution, default IE or Firefox font)
No text over size 3 is allowed, even if your sigline uses only one line.
Signature lines should not have nationalistic, combative, racist or any other kind of commentary which may offend others.
Signature lines are not permitted to include embedded coding (except that for web links and visually manipulating text), attachments, links which trigger a download or any other kind of disruptive or invasive action to either SSC's of our users' property.
Posting Youtube videos into signatures is not allowed.
Members are not permitted to quote other members in their signatures for any reason.
As always, SSC staff reserves the right to moderate for reasons not specifically mentioned here. You are here at our permission. We may revoke that permission at any time for any reason, or even no reason at all.
Remember, many different people from many different cultures are present here together. Please be respectful of your fellow members, as it is this cooperation among so many that allows Skyscrapercity to thrive.
11. Report any misconduct of forumers to the moderators. If a forumer is attacked by another and attacks him back, he will be equally eligible of an infraction / brig / ban.
Moderators / Administrators
1. Moderators are empowered to enforce the rules stated by taking appropriate actions deemed necessary.
2. Threads required to be renamed, moved, merged, deleted, stickied etc. can be suggested to the moderator at this thread: MODS CONSULTATION (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1283607).
3. Reporting of the misconduct of forumers should be done through private message NOT visitor message.
4. General moderating procedures:
A forumer will be given a warning / infraction when found to break a forum rule.
After a few infractions, the forumer will be brigged (can only view the forums, but not post or vote) for a period of time, determined by the moderator. Brigged forumers who are caught to re-register will have all accounts banned.
Further problems will result in a permanent ban.
Moderators however, have the authority to take whatever actions against the forumer based on the severity of the offence, without following the above procedures.
5. The list of moderators are listed at the very bottom of the forum page.
