The bridge joins two Tiber river fundamental banks: on the right one (north wise) there is the brand new MaXXI museum and Renzo Piano's Auditorium Music Hall (after which the bridge was named).
On the left bank there is the Foro Italico Olympic area, hosting the Olympic Stadium, the Olympic swimming pool and Tennis Stadium, with further minor sport facilities.
Here's a satellite view before bridge's built

Here's it will look after completion:

And here's a pic shot in June 2011:

As today only pedestrians and bicycles are allowed.
tool2106 September 18th, 2011, 08:42 PM I will start with some pics I shot in June 2011 at accomplished works.
Then we will go back in time to the several bulding steps and phases which spanned in the last two years.

Unfortunately the walking surfaces and the side prop, built with Indonesian bankirai wood, are getting quickly spoiled and ruined :(

Civis Fede II September 19th, 2011, 08:36 AM :applause:
tool2106 September 19th, 2011, 03:46 PM All right. Let's go back in time to analyze the different steps which lead to the bridge completion.
This is how the banks look in March 2010:

http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/7762/aa005g.jpg
Building process had been halted in late 2009 due to river's continuous floodings.
This lead MAEG and Mattioli featuring Rome Municipality, to completely change building process.
tool2106 September 19th, 2011, 03:59 PM Here are the building process schemes. Originally posted on the Italian Forum thread (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1078389&page=8). Copyrights at Ingegné (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/member.php?u=568645)
Once completed the concrete stalls and assembled the very first pieces on the banks, two 40 meters tall twin towers have been risen on each side:
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/6932/fase2w.png
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/6932/fase2w.png
Those were tied to the banks with four 3 inches wide iron stays each.

http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/3111/fase4.png
tool2106 September 19th, 2011, 04:07 PM Hereafter, thanks to a 800 tons crane, the several ashlars have been lifted and taken to their final position, tied to the towers with two stays each and eventually welded together with copper alloy.

http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/8530/fase6.png
This lead the bridge to look pretty similar to New York's Brooklyn Bridge
tool2106 September 19th, 2011, 04:32 PM The following step was building the two bows holding the joists, once again using the 800 tons and 75 meters tall crane, this one:
