The Gateway Tower is a structural steel-framed building. These photos taken weeks ago showing this building currently installation of its structural steel columns reached 18th floor and floor slab construction on its 15th level.

To date, construction of steel columns reached 21st level.

This building is part of the on-going Araneta Redevelopment. And some earlier details were posted on the Araneta Redevelopment Plan thread.

I remember creating a thread for this ages ago, what happened to that, by the way?

At 124.35m, not as the tallest steel building in the philippines, yung rufino tower pa rin ang tallest all-steel building in the philippines.

Mas okay nga sana pag pre-fab ang walls at para mas makinis ang finish nito.

Unfortunately, steel framed buildings tend to be like that when it comes to the rust. Gateway Tower's steel frames look actually clean and brand new, most other steel framed buildings underconstruction, including the Freedom Tower, already have rusty girders.

I would rather prefer reinforced concrete since they tend to last longer (as mentioned in the History Channel series, "Life After People") as they tend to resist corrosion and wear. I'm glad they are coverring the columns with concrete, I hope they do so with the steel beams as well. I hope they don't use cheap spray on fireproofing (like in the original WTC, as well as the Robinsons malls) and instead use ones that are much much more...tougher....

Thanks for that buddy.

Yes better if it's concrete since it will have natural concrete cover to protect steel reinforcements against deterioration when exposed to rain and fire. When I visited the site I still found no fire protection applied/sprayed on those structural steel members, just the installed concrete cladding on those columns on lower floors. The advantage of steel building is the speed in construction and with the use of steel decking, building is lighter but sometimes requires bracing to increase rigidity. And it is easier to demolish and the building will have higher salvage value.

They used red oxide or red lead primer on those steel members, gray color primer is better since it is easier to find where corrosion is occuring. Some construction used that primer.

I wonder how much an office unit here will cost, the area is very accessible using Major Transportation mediums so employees will have no problem reporting to work

Ok, now I'm scared....what could possibly be causing the delay? Did Araneta miss a payment?
