The crane has been placed on the site. Behind it, Londrina's current tallest, Torre Alicante (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=654335) (U/C, 130 m).

I think it's only a matter of the render's perspective. There's no difference between the bottom and the top.

Very nice shot, Adriano! Torre Alicante dwarfed Torre Málaga, which until then had stood alone as the tallest of Gleba Palhano.

Anyhow, as Maison Héritage rises, it will block completely this view from Torre Alicante.

I'm not a big fan of this building, but as it will become Londrina's tallest, I thought it might deserve a thread here.

We can't see it as the trees cover, but in front of Málaga, they've just opened this very good market, Mercado Palhano (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1295385). It's one of the first steps to turn Gleba Palhano into a pedestrian-friendly zone.

The design is very Brazilian. A new midrise white tower in a sea of midrise white towers. It won't be recognizable when it is finished.

^^
The glassy residential towers of Vancouver or Toronto look all the same to me. We have the same "problem" in New York, Hong Kong, Gold Coast, Tokyo, Athens, Berlin or Rotterdam. So it's not a "Brazilian thing" to have similar residential towers. Also, 142 m is not a "midrise" and as you can see in the skyline photos, there are buildings of all colours not only white.

I never even heard of Londrina before today. I guess the skyline is very recent?

Keano, actually the city is kind of recent. Londrina was founded in 1929 in the middle of the Atlantic Rainforest by British entrepreneurs led by Lord Lovat. It was incorporated as a municipality in 1934. Got people from 40 different countries by the 1930's (mostly Italians, Japanese, Germans and Spaniards) and became the "world capital of coffee". The culture collapsed in few hours back in 1975 after the Black Frost. The region reinvented itself, and it's today the biggest producer of cereals/soybeans in the country. Londrina has 511,000 people (municipality) and 1.1 million in her metro area (a policentric one).

Anyhow, about the skyline, Gleba Palhano's (the booming district across the lake) is brand new. Debuted in 2000's. Downtown's however, is almost as old as the city: by the 1940's, the traditional wooden houses started to be replaced by highrises, giving Londrina a very powerful skyline for a city with her size. For further information and old photos, go to my thread NORTE do PARANÁ - 80 Anos (1929-2009) (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=966008).

Well, it must be a case of elective blindness, because they are all different. Of course there isn't any shaped as a sphere, but I don't think that's common elsewhere either.

At least the towers in this city are nice, unlike that tacky cluster of buildings in dubai which also look very much the same.

To me, it's better to stick with the plain than to the tacky.
