Hello my fellow Tweedsters,
I want to hear your views on whether Tweeds should become apart of the Gold Coast or Queensland. I have already set up a forum in the Gold Coast, but this one is for Tweed Heads and NSW residents view points.
Its hard for me to give my opinion as im up the other end of the state in Cairns. However i did notice that Tweed and Gold Coast share the same buses. :)
regards
Ferdinand from Cairns

join the Queensland family? Gold Coast already treats her like a sister

Of course she would need to listen to her "new mother"

Well, Tweed Heads is already part of the Gold Coast urban area according to the ABS...and there are a couple of other Australian cities that do fine across state borders (Albury-Wodonga, Canberra-Queanbeyan), so I don't think a state change is really necessary unless there's some benefit to be gained from it. I don't see why a common city council couldn't be established across state borders, irrespective of the state boundary.

No i dont believe so.
When in the area i feel it has a style greatly different from GC and can be felt after literally just stepping over the border.

No.
A much better idea would be for New South Wales to take over the Gold Coast. By force, if necessary. Everyone knows Bob Carr would love to emulate the presidential majesty of numerous American heads of state, and here's an ideal opportunity for him to do so. Surely the Queenslanders up there would shower his liberating force with flowers and sweets as the column of Sydney transit busses trundle across the border, Bob at the helm, with a mammoth NSW strike-force following behind, comprising corrupt ministers, consultants, and police officers bearing gifts of laundered money in brown paper bags, and drugs.
Who's with me on this?

It is already apart of/from Queensland. It is currently a part of NSW. What a difference a little space makes.

According to the Courier Mail there is now 5.7 Billion worth of construction currently underway in Tweed Shire!!! This is up from 4 billion last year. It's amazing growth can be attributed to its location close to the Gold Coast and its appeal to people commuting to work in Brisbane every day.
It is interesting also that a demographic change is also occuring in Tweed with more young families taking up residents - Courier Mail.

The attitude of New South Walers towards Tweed Heads to me seems whatever happens to Tweed Heads is of no importance to the rest of the state. I would of thought this thread would be running hot with alot of replies from New South Wales particularily Sydney people.
Tweed must be of low importance to Sydney compared to cities in the Sydney Metro area!

Nah, we treat Tweed Heads like our Byron Bay.

No-one in Sydney knows or cares about any other town in the state besides, yes, Byron Bay.

Who cares about the left-wing, tree-hugging hippies of Byron Bay?
