OK, I really like this one, but first I suppose I'd better give you the info about what it's supposed to be:

"This extraordinary building, designed by the acclaimed architect Daniel Libeskind, is itself is a massive sculpture representing fragments of a world shattered by conflict. You enter at the base of the 55m high Air Shard, go through to the main exibition areas in the Earth Shard where the floor is curved at the same ratio as the earth, then relax in the Water Shard which holds the restaurant and has a fine view over the Quays. An even better view of the Quays can be had from the 29m high viewing platform in the Air Shard, constructed from an open lattice work of steel through which the wind whistles. Everything is at peculiar angles, including the lift shaft which tilts at 4 degrees. At first glance the main exhibition space seems lacking in exhibits, but this is an illusion brought about by the sheer size of the place. Also located in this area are 'silos', each concentrating on different aspects of 20th century warfare. Perhaps the most moving experience is the audio-visual display - the 'Big Picture'. Every hour the lights dim and the whole area is flooded with the images and sounds of war, covering various subjects throughout the day, including Why War, Children and War and Weapons of War."

Try to ignore the stuff in the background where possible!

I'd show you some night scenes with the coloured lighting on the panels, but this is about architecture, not about how good we are at shining lights.

OK then, only three votes and no comments... Is it really that bad? The scores it got don't suggest so! Vote people... :bleh:

interesting but bad surroundings. would have scored higher without surface parking.

Yeah, point taken about the surface parking. It would have been interesting if they'd created a multi-storey metal shard next to it for cars to go in.

I find Libeskind hollow and VERY irritating. But if I get him out of my head for a second: the imperial war museum does look very cool. 9/10

should show some pics of the interior lest people realy look at it as a piece of sculpture and not a building:

this is inside the high 'shard'
