We already have a thread for Kalimantan. I think it would be better if you take out Kalimantan's part, because it will be a lot of pic and image repost here and there...
Mehome September 28th, 2011, 08:46 AM ^^ Kalimantan and other regions are located in the eastern part of Indonesia, and why one earth should i have to remove it from this thread? this thread is not just about Kalimantan, but Papua, Sulawesi, Maluku and Nusatenggara as well.
RonnieR September 28th, 2011, 10:21 AM ^^ Nice thread. I have been to Ujung Pandang and Ambon, Maluku! I love Ambon. It's a different atmosphere compared to other cities in Java. They look different than the Filipinos and Indonesians. :)

But it will be quite repetitive since we already have a single specially dedicated thread for Kalimantan Island.
Okay, we don't have to count Kalimantan out, just be focus on other parts of Eastern Indonesia in this thread.

Manado city is predominantly Christian, with Protestant being the majority and a sizeable number of Catholic, Pentecostals, and other Christian denominations. in fact, Manado is definitively the city of Indonesia with the most churches per inhabitants and would certainly rank in the top ten on a world chart. in a 1km radius of you could have at least 20 churches, but two mosques. The remaining 20% of the population are Muslim.

From 1910 to 1962, the city was known as Hollandia and was the capital of a district of the same name in the northeast of West Papua. It was briefly called Kota Baru and Sukarnopura before assuming its present name in 1968. The literal meaning of Jayapura is 'City of Victory' (Sanskrit : Jaya "victory" and Pura "city").
