View Full Version : The Great-Designs-Thread

Alright, this forum is for indoor-designs of Buildings, but I hope I don't bend the rules to far by opening this thread,
which is about any real object that has a notable and preferable good design.

Also, hopefuly this brings more enthusiasm into the design-forum itself :)

So in this thread you can post any man-made object which is no building.
Of course good design is also always a matter of taste, so tolerate the others opinions.

Some examples of what might be posted here:
Cars, Motorcycles, Ships, Boats, Airplanes, Guns, Watches, Clothing, Furniture, Computers/Laptops etc. etc. etc.

Rules:
- Post a single object per Post with no more than 3 pictures
- credit the pictures
- say why you love this specific design/object

Enjoy the marvels of design :)

----------------------------------------

I start with the BMW R850R (1993-2006)

(not me either)

I love this bike because it has a very individialistic exterior, compared to most other naked bikes. And thats not only because of the boxer engine, but also because the general design is so well made and timeless. And this bike is design wise a bit simplier than its later bigger brothers like the R1200R (which has more edges and is less rounded).
And, of course, it goes very well and is great for bigger tours.

British fighter of world war 2, with tremendous power. And it also looks like its powerfull. I just love that giant air-entrance-thing (oil cooler I think) it has.
For me this is the propeller-driven fighter in optical perfection.

The Equilibrium Bookcase is indeed a very cool idea. However, I don't think it is very practical: if you pull out a book from somewhere in the middle it may be hard to put it back to the same location because you have to push away the books next to it against gravity :)

Citroen DS: thats indeed a marvel of modern design. Citroen always had great ideas in innovative designs.

Please always add one or two sentences to the design you adore. This shall not be a simple picture dump.

For example, I cant see why the Alfa Romeo 147 should be a good design. In fact its rather ugly I think. But maybe you could explain why it is so good :)

This looks like 3 sets of beds(1 kingsize and 2 single beds) attached together with elaborate wooden hinges and mounted on a wooden bench-very clever idea.
