Danubis October 21st, 2004, 05:19 AM i wonder how much all these new residental talls in the cbd will effect the federal seat of brisbane, because they were redrawn before the election just gone to accomodate for all the new development in petrie blight over the past few years... resulting in areas such as west end being cut out of the seat and moved to griffith.
anyone care to guess how much population these deveopments will add to the current cbd population by 2007 (also coincidently the next federal election) and hypothesis on what it will do to labor's current 4.5% margin?

Dean October 21st, 2004, 06:40 AM lol @ Cul, just a few hey???
Love the look of festival hall's podium.
in regard to vision i very much doubt it will be up by 2007, considering its only just been proposed they first need approval then pre sales and pre leasing of office space and construction will be about of 2 and a half years... so im thinking completion in around 2009/10
Cheers
Dean - Melbourne
CULWULLA October 21st, 2004, 07:28 AM lol, .
dean , i was told by Vision architects hopefully the project will recieve approval early next year and construction will commence late 2005, and 2 years of construction, so late 2007 early 2008.?
anyway it will be this decade! lol

Potentially 6 new towers for top 15!
thats not bad!
Blend October 21st, 2004, 09:43 AM wow 4 bris
Wezza October 21st, 2004, 10:07 AM Lol. Just check Brisbanes list again Cul, i don't think CP1 is proposed. Well, i hope it's not, otherwise i've been seeing things for quite a while now!! :)
Blend October 21st, 2004, 10:54 AM Lol
CULWULLA October 21st, 2004, 01:15 PM wezza- it was a long day.
well if you go by these lists, brisbane will undergo the most significant change to its skyline.
10 out of top 15 will be new. i dont know if i can say this for any other city around the world even?

Dubai maybe? They're going nuts over there!
Anyway, that is a remarkable achievement by Brisbane! I think in terms of average skyline height increase this one rivals or even surpasses Melbournes early 90s boom!
MrTall October 21st, 2004, 02:07 PM Who designed Aurora, the Catholic Church? I've never noticed the cross at the top before.
kasperluke October 21st, 2004, 02:24 PM Hey Cul,
I know you have had a long day! And is must have been a long one!! On your Melbourne list you have two Melbourne Centrals...I wish we did have another 224m building! that would be nice!
tomrorow is Friday so you will be fine tomorrow! :)
Trances October 21st, 2004, 03:36 PM well dubai yes
but still then its top 1 will remain the same as the Burj is still a long way off.
but of the top 15 there are 10 Under C ! ( not inc the Burj )
so thats gotta match Brisbane sorry also given the shortest is a over 200M
but still this list looks unlikey to change as most towers that are being built are between 200-150 M.
cranerider October 22nd, 2004, 01:26 AM I'd still like to see more 200m+ towers in Brisbane. Melbourne will have 11 and Sydney will have 10 in their dense urban jungles. It will be impressive when all (well mainland cap cities) have 200m+ skylines. Come on Adelaide !!
Beautiful Perth's skyline has punch through that mark years ago

111 George is 145m not 138m
other then that. very good!

LOL:)
Most of those figures actually came from this web site and skyscraperpage.com . The 475 Adelaide street tower was a guess based on the rendering which puts it about the same height as Skyline next door - the spire seems taller but I did not include that in my height - same with 111 George St.

Your time will come, in the distant future though, perhaps 20 years time? To be honest I think you should be very happy with the crop of scrapers you have going up already. I mean, Brissy has a population of what, 1.8mil right? About half the size of Melbourne, less than half that of Sydney, so market and demand will be down substantially. I seriously doubt that Brissy will need that many 200m+ office scrapers, if built they would just create a high vacancy rate and leave the skyline stagnant with little to no growth for at least a decade waiting for demand to grow. Which I guess ain't too bad for scraper nuts in the short term but it would have a negative impact on the construction industry in the long run, plus who wants a decade of near zero construction? :runaway:
I ain't too sure about the resi market down there but surely 200+ resi towers would be more an exception than a rule. Heck, people talk about Melbourne's big resi boom and still 'only' 3 of those towers are 200m+. E, FWP and Prima. The majority are between 50m and 200m tall...
So, in a nutshell, don't be too greedy!

as ive said to many others. skyscraperpage is ok but its not acurate.
if you want accuracy go to ss.com>
Brisbane skyscrapers (http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/ci/bu/sk/li/?id=100505&bt=2&ht=2&sro=1)
Blend October 22nd, 2004, 02:27 PM unfortunately, ssp has the advantage of the search feature. You can specify what to view from when and so on.
ss.com doesnt seem to have that.
Shuzstar October 23rd, 2004, 11:36 AM poor,poor adelaide
and i know that 6 new talls are in but they wont really do THAT much to the skyline. if you got some more 100m+ then adelaide might stand out a bit more.
what they shouldve done is this, combine City Central tower hotel AND office which are both 80m so that wouldve made a 160m building. then adelaide would look btter.
but still on brisbane, bloodyy impressive and all of them are new funky looking ones which will add to a modern skyline. claps and cheers for brissy.
CULWULLA October 24th, 2004, 06:49 AM yes its a shame for the City Central site has a 99m height limitation. So instead of 2x80m scrapers they should have atleast gave one of them the 100m height and the other 60m! damn.
I hope soon Adelaide gets a 100m+ scraper. its time! its been many years since one of 300ft/90m+ has come along.
