diskojoe October 6th, 2011, 09:19 PM Me and my girl are going to go to San Antonio for New Years but I havent been there in about 20 years. What the hell is there to do?
I need some ideas for grub and pictorals?
ikops October 7th, 2011, 09:09 AM Isn't that the city with the famous riverwalk?

Yes it is. I definitely plan on doing the riverwalk for a minute. We will be staying at the Grand Hyatt and possibly in a penthouse if we are lucky. They have a deal that if you sign up for it you can stay in a penthouse for an extra $25 a night if it is not rented.
Here is a link to the hotel. Rooftop pool!

LSyd October 7th, 2011, 07:29 PM cool. it can get chilly there in winter though.
Riverwalk, Tower of the Americas, there's a lot of old neighborhoods near downtown, and some funky clubs out by Trinity and San Antonio College.

Word. Can definitely use some ideas for where to get cocktails. Trying to find stuff close enough to get there on foot.
diablo234 October 7th, 2011, 08:53 PM Market Square is relatively close to the Riverwalk and is worth checking out. Also there was a new museum that was recently built (I think it was Museo Alameda).
And you have the King William and La Villita neighborhoods as well.

ardamir October 8th, 2011, 11:26 PM Youre a douchebag if you dont go to the zoo.
Son of Dad October 10th, 2011, 07:29 AM Is it that good? I have no idea.

It is generally considered one of the top zoos in the U.S. I have seen it ranked in the top 10 more than once.
diskojoe October 10th, 2011, 10:32 PM ^^^
The zoo there is actually pretty nice but I will not be going there. Maybe if I had my kids with me but they are NOT going. Just me and the wife. I will not be seeing any tourist traps. I saw the Alamo when I was 8 and dont need to see it again.
So mostly I'm looking for food, drinks and people watching. Some buildings will be photographed as well.
ardamir October 10th, 2011, 11:24 PM Of course, I would expect a Houstonian would want to avoid a zoo that puts his city's to shame.

In that case then I absolutely recomend that you check out Market Square.
hannah_banana October 11th, 2011, 12:40 AM Go to Southtown and also check out the Pearl District area.
desertpunk October 11th, 2011, 02:23 AM Don't forget dinner at Il Sogno... ;)

Why would I want to do that (avoid zoo)?? I've been all over the globe, junior...

Dude, Im not going to the zoo because I AM TRYING TO HAVE A ROMANTIC WEEKEND WITH MY WIFE. The zoo does not seem to work into that plan for me some how. Plus Im only going to be there for two days.

This seems good too. Trying to find a few options for dinner in case some of the places are too busy.
diskojoe October 11th, 2011, 04:20 PM Go to Southtown and also check out the Pearl District area.
This seems good.
ardamir October 11th, 2011, 08:40 PM After you go to the zoo you should go here:

I'm a Houstonian?!
spencer114 October 13th, 2011, 05:21 PM Ok, I have nothing of value to add to this ( never been to SA) but I have to say that the "after you go to the zoo" comment had me laughing a good five minutes. Classic!
popnfresh October 21st, 2011, 10:58 AM Hit up Southtown.
Walk the Riverwalk (or take a barge) from downtown to the Pearl. Then check out the Pearl. Dine or shop.
Get a hot dog from Jerry's on Commerce St.
Go to La Cantera or Eilan.
Drive out to Bandera.
Go to the Japanese Tea Garden. (http://i.imgur.com/RiIjo.jpg)
Oh yeah, they may not have mentioned it, but check out the Zoo.
