EarlyBird October 22nd, 2004, 03:25 PM I've given it a 5. I like a lot of the architecture in Birmingham and the new-look Bullring is definitely different, but I think it's an eyesore. I think that in 20 years time the people of Birmingham will be thinking "what were they thinking of". It looks like a huge "Pearly King" beached whale.
Blunther October 22nd, 2004, 03:38 PM I thoguht that when it was first built, but it's really grown on me now. As long as it's well maintained, and KEPT CLEAN (apparently, it'll be cleaned once a year - I'd like to see how long they keep that up for!!), I think it'll be a great landmark for years to come.
Phobos October 23rd, 2004, 07:06 AM Horrible...taht building is a cancer in Birmingham
this is one of the few buildings in the wold that deserve 3 or less...
EarlyBird October 23rd, 2004, 09:09 PM If that thing was in Liverpool they'd be nicking the silver disk things within a week... :jk:
Rigadon October 24th, 2004, 10:53 PM a clear 10 form me

Blunther October 26th, 2004, 06:30 PM I guess you love it or you hate it then!!
EarlyBird October 26th, 2004, 08:05 PM It would have been interesting to see who voted for what... I want to know how many of the high scores were from people in Birmingham! Still, better than the Arndale tower...
Blunther October 26th, 2004, 08:45 PM Supopse I shoujld've made it public. I voted nine, for the record.
I'd imagine many of the high scores are from brummies. I think the building takes a bit of getting used to :)
Rigadon October 27th, 2004, 01:02 AM . I think the building takes a bit of getting used to :)
for those with no imagination or taste. :)
Rigadon October 27th, 2004, 01:05 AM I'. I think that in 20 years time the people of Birmingham will be thinking "what were they thinking of". .
who cares they can always knock it down- in the meantime the city will enjoy having the coolest building in the country.
Doyle November 25th, 2004, 01:58 PM Well I voted 9 for the record. I think it looks absolutely awesome from certain vantage points and when you're stood in digbeth you might think an alien spacecraft had landed. It is an exceptionally bold move and may well backfire in 5, 10 or more years time, but for now it is very welcome.
Grygry November 26th, 2004, 03:22 AM 9.5! I'm just loving it! No one would dare do that, appart from the brits !
I like the gleam when you're far away fom it, and the pop art like dots when you're close to it. It's funny, and surely different to all these shopping malls that are copied on the same uninteresting architectural schemes. :) :) :)
Ashok November 29th, 2004, 05:24 AM i guess this is one of those buildings u either love or hate, n i hate it 3/10
zafiris December 6th, 2004, 09:29 PM 0 or 10? Well, first of all this was designed for Selfridges based on customer behaviour. A shiny building for the consumer. A big shiny blob someone whould say. Locals feel pride, Selfridges came in town. Conclusion is that the only one who gets a 10 here is Selfridges Ltd.
Hardouin-Mansart December 6th, 2004, 10:36 PM That girl has a funny sort of "xic".
DamienK December 25th, 2004, 09:56 PM Whoa. 6/10

EnglishKevin October 9th, 2005, 02:18 PM I absolutely love it but it is desperate for company . It looks so out of place .
10/10
Jutcho October 12th, 2005, 04:41 PM I simply love it, so different and fresh. 9.5/10
Henk October 12th, 2005, 05:08 PM Verry special. But I don't like it. 5/10.
El_Greco October 13th, 2005, 11:46 PM 7/10
vertigosufferer October 13th, 2005, 11:53 PM Like the Urbis in Manchester, it does arouse discussion, and can look slightly out of place in it's surroundings. However I think it's a bold statement of the recently refurbished bullring district of Birmingham, and you need a touch of the modern, aswell has the old in any City.
Eyecatching if nothing else 8/10 ;)

SGoico August 20th, 2006, 11:55 AM Fine example of how cool and original doesn't mean beautiful. I'm being generous: 3.5

Erebus555 October 24th, 2006, 04:44 PM Amazing building in my eyes. The entire bullring development would not have been as successful and eye catching nationally or internationally without it. 10/10
Taller, Better October 24th, 2006, 05:57 PM Not my cup of tea... striving too hard to be "different". Will look dated very
quickly.
L8Hatter October 24th, 2006, 07:40 PM It's transformed the way a lot of people view Birmingham and has probably done wonders for tourism. You have to admit, that's pretty impressive for a shop. 9/10
cinosanap October 24th, 2006, 07:48 PM I don't like it very much but it gets a higher score for innovation.
SactoSpam November 9th, 2006, 02:30 AM 7.5 for it's uniqueness.

Crownsteler January 22nd, 2011, 12:06 AM This building at least deserves quite a few points for its uniqueness and funkyness. It is also really well lit at night. But it is a bit to closed for my tastes and perhaps tries a bit to hard. I wonder how well it ages. Still an 8-/10 for now.
