AS of October, this year, the total amount of fresh investments poured into Davao City has reached P3.42 billion, According to records obtained from the Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC).

This, after the Davao City Investment Incentive Board (DCIIB) approved earlier this month five more projects with local tax incentives. The new projects are valued at P645.49 million.

The new projects, whose owners availed themselves of incentives provided under the Davao City Investment Incentive Code, are expected to generate a total of 1,268 direct and indirect jobs.

As DCIIB-approved projects, their investors are entitled to such fiscal incentives as exemption from building permit fees and charges; exemption from the Mayor’s permit fees, business sales taxes and other fees and charges imposed under existing city ordinances for a maximum of three years; and exemption from basic real property tax for a maximum of two years.

They are also qualified to enjoy non-fiscal incentives such as assistance in securing business licenses and permits, processing of local investment incentives, business matching services, help in finding suitable sites for their location, assistance in finding sources of raw materials, providing of manpower and other production needs and access to the city’s data-banking services.

The total amount of investments as of October this year is only 3.45% short of the total investments recorded in 2010.

Last year, Davao City attracted P3.54 billion total investments in 13 different projects that generated 4,494 direct and indirect jobs.

Of the 13 projects, nine are property development projects, three are tourism facilities and one is agri-business.

Topping the list of projects approved this month is the “hospital” of the Metro Davao Medical and Research Center worth P327 million. The project is a tertiary hospital with hotel amenities that will generate 414 direct and indirect jobs.

It is followed by the Pinnacle Hotel and Suites of the Central Parq Group of Companies worth P205 million which will generate 194 total jobs; the Main Street Claveria and Brooklyn and Walters Hotel of the Davao Rogienald Corporation worth P120 million which will employ 87 workers; and the six-storey condominium of Kim Guan Realty Development Corporation worth P85 million which will generate 442 jobs.

Other projects this year include the Orchid Hills, a high end subdivision project of the BDA Holiday Prime Properties, Inc. with P220.98 million total project cost; the Damosa IT Park– Building 3 project of Davao Land, Inc. with P52.23 million project cost; and the Recreation Park of the Gumamela Caverock Farm Resort with P29.63 million project cost.

Another project is the other tourism facility of Home Crest Residences of the Globalcrest Properties, Inc. which will construct a three-storey 28-room boutique hotel with P27.50 million project cost.

Since the enactment of the Investment Incentive Code in 1994, the city government has granted tax incentives to P35.21 billion total worth of projects which generated a total employment of 19,053 direct and 28,719 indirect jobs.

Yup, may vacant lot sa bandang taas. Yung mga gusto magtago doon nagpa-park para di halata na nasa casino.:lol: Maliit lang ang area, mga around 20 vehicles lang kakasya..

I just wished they just demolished the building outright and made a new one. The Cuison Hotel was built duirng the 1960's and was largely abandoned until the 1980's when finally it was opened (pero tinamaan ng kaguluhan sa Davao) the old casino was a newer addition actually being built in the early 1980's hoping that Pagcor partnering with Cuison Hotel, the hotel can pull in clients/guests. However the hotel was shut down again in the later part of 1980's and was taken over by PNB i think.
the front part/old reception area became Duty free philippines before it was shut down on the suspicion of a smuggling front.
the hotel used to have a pool at the top floor and it was just right with the deepest part at 6 feet. (Ilang beses din ako nakapasok diyan... VERY CREEPY!)
The parking spaces are all located in front and the back of the old casino building.
So I am wondering, is it still structurally sound or did the new owners simply retrofitted the whole building?
About it being near the Bajada Diesel plant, fortunately the Aboitiz bajada diesel plant is not running 24 hours a day anymore (unless magkaroon ng energy deficit from the mindanao grid...ok guys THAT IS THE MAJOR clue if Davao is experiencing an energy deficit), so it does not have a major impact on the overall status of the hospital.

Unless they perform diagnostics like MRI/CT or even electrodiagnostics, then that plant becomes a nuisance. (the owners MUST know that they need to ground these machines properly or face the consequence of a 60 Hz noise )

The highlighted part's also my concern. Considering that it will become a hospital, will it be safe to think that its an old building? Do we have government agencies that set up requirements before a structure can be considered as a hospital facility? Coz I just hope that this building's been checked structurally, not only that daghang ungo dinha og whitelady coz it's an abandoned building for decades, but was it well maintained? Im sure the proponents look unto these na before (not the ungo but the structure ehehe) but lam nyo na, just to be safe. eheheh

The project looks massive but to this very day, I still have no clue to how it would look like once completed. They have not released any rendering to the public, have they?

As i remember, dili man ata noise ang problem ani since duol ra man pud ni sa Redemptorist parish and wala may reklamo from the church. Ang problem ata ani is Ground vibration. not sure though

Well, that Diesel Plant used to be the only source of power in Davao City. It really does not generate these days UNLESS there is a shortfall of electricity. Then this augments the shortfall.

about removing it? nope I do not think Aboitiz would as of the moment and seriously, this plant is what makes Davao City having less or no brownouts at all....

Naku, sana mga taga Davao muna...but of course they will not be able to control that, lest they will be charged of discrimination...

They own Club Med too. Dr. Yvette Tan-who I knew from my previous job has the reputation of being very kind and generous to her patients and people she works with. In many instances, she gave free consultations and medications to her poor patients. That I can personally attest. Her very wealthy mom- who is very supportive of her cause is behind the purchase and eventual reno and construction of this hospital so she could continue her philantrophic works. A source of some of this info is a future tenant (EENT Clinic) who's with me and his family in Whistler right now. This hospital, once open, will be Davao's if not Mindanao's biggest private facility of this kind.

if ur talking of Yvette Yenco-Tan of chdc and san pedro, i guess Fernando Tan is her husband. the Tans' were a typical negosyanteng intsik sa among lugar in the 80's sa dvo oriental-an old skul supermarket-and yes dra. yvette is very approachable though typical rich fil-chinese ang itsura pero bisaya kaau ug kinaiya and her clinic @ chdc ky magfall-in-line ang mga pasyente just like dr. guillano of alexian bros.:)
