The most famous Great wall in Iran is the the Red Snake: http://www.archaeology.co.uk/cwa-2/world-news/the-enigma-of-the-red-snake.htm -> It is longer than Hadrian's Wall and the Antonine Wall taken together. It is over a thousand years older than the Great Wall of China as we know it today. It is of more solid construction than its ancient Chinese counterparts. It is the greatest monument of its kind between central Europe and China and it may be the longest brick, or stone, wall ever built in the ancient world. This wall is known as ‘The Great Wall of Gorgan’ or ‘the Red Snake’. An international team of archaeologists has been at work on the snakelike monument and here they report on their findings. The ‘Red Snake’ in northern Iran, which owes its name to the red colour of its bricks, is at least 195km long.

Rudkhan in the north of Iran:

What are you showing here is a Turkic fortress somewhere near Iran's Caspian Sea coast. The Great wall of Gorgan is made of earth and lie in the middle of desert. Blatantly misleading.

Turkic fortress?!! Gorgan and desert?!!

Of course as I said those are the pics of Rudkhan, not the Great wall of Gorgan but both of them were built with the same material and almost the same environment, in fact the largest forest in Iran is in Gorgan.

firstly where did turkic come from, and where did the desert come from??

anyhow , the great wall of gorgan is buried away in history, but certain areas of it remain and have been excavated

Thanks finally some photos of Gorgan wall, as you can see it's a semi-desert landscape, not Gilan jungle. ;)

I dunno but I googled Rudkhan and wikipedia says it's built by the Seljuk Turks?

:)

rudkhan is a complex that has been there for many years prior to turkic migrations
the seljuks certainly may have added and reconstrcuted some parts
but for the most part it was constructed by the sassanids as a defensive fortress against various arab invasions i believe, some claim it has origins before that aswell

its a really cool complex in a very special location

nd the wall is so big it stretches from some forest like parts to open grass and farmland :)

i cant see your pics and your other comments are 100% wrong

also, i would like to say that sadly, iran's corrupt authorities are deciding to split the gorgan wall for a railway project :bash:
