View Full Version : #Photo Gallery: Qatar & Bahrain Maps
Nick in Atlanta October 23rd, 2004, 09:23 PM As not everyone has a great idea of where exactly Qatar and Bahrain are located and what the names are of some of their cities, I decided to post a couple of maps to get things started for me on this new thread.

By the way since were on the topic! Is there any development in hawar? Other than the two star hotel that was there!
Bahraini Spirit October 24th, 2004, 02:03 PM it's actually 4 star hehe. Well there was a proposal for danat hawar project, no idea what happened to that.
This was the information:
Major plans are in hand to develop the Hawar Islands into a tourist haven. The Southern Area Development Company (SDC) is funding a multi-million-dinar to develop tourist and leisure facilities in Hawar including a luxury marina complex, a five-star resort hotel, extensive leisure facilities, and a resort village.

I dont want qatar and bahrain to fight over the island, therefore i am going to take over the island. i currently dont have any islands, so.
Qatar4Ever October 25th, 2004, 05:06 PM well actually hijazzy, uae did share a boarder with qatar. If you drive to salwa, the saudi-qatar boarder, there is a road sign that directs south and reads "uae." The road is still there, bus saudi arabia being saudia arabia decided that it wants a 3 or 4 km access to the sea between uae and qatar so they just claimed the land for them after gulf war II. Then they claimed to the uae that this was their to start with, and uae being uae agreed just to avoid any sort of confrontation or misunderstang with saudi and sign it off with out consulting with qatar. The next morning saudi arabia comes and closes the boarder and blocks all cars and commerical vechiles from passing these 3 or so km to uae.. instead qataris wanting to go to abu dhabi and visa versa have to travel an extra 2 hours just to pass into saudi arabia and then go to uae... very sad!
oh yeah... this way all qatar trade and commerce by land has go to through saudi arabia first!!
HiJazzey October 25th, 2004, 07:57 PM Q4E,
What the hell are you talking about? That area was ceded to Saudi Arabia in the border agreement between AbuDhabi and Saudi Arabia. In return they got Buraimi oasis area. This was like 30 years ago! And frankly, the UAE is anything but passive when it comes to territorial disputes. This is the country that kicked up a massive fuss with Iran over the lesser and greater Tunb. Two islands that get submerged on high tide!
HiJazzey October 25th, 2004, 08:06 PM In case you don't believe me Q4E, here's something I found at the US Library of Congress...
Saudi Arabia's eastern boundary follows the Persian Gulf from Ras al Khafji to the peninsula of Qatar, whose border with Saudi Arabia was determined in 1965. The Saudi border with the state of Oman, on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, runs through the Empty Quarter (Rub al Khali). The border demarcation was defined by a 1990 agreement between Saudi Arabia and Oman that included provisions for shared grazing rights and use of water resources. The border through Al Buraymi Oasis, located near the conjunction of the frontiers of Oman, Abu Dhabi (one of the emirates of the UAE), and Saudi Arabia, has triggered extensive dispute among the three states since the Treaty of Jiddah in 1927. In a 1975 agreement with Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi accepted sovereignty over six villages in the Al Buraymi Oasis and the sharing of the rich Zararah oil field. In return, Saudi Arabia obtained an outlet to the Persian Gulf through Abu Dhabi.
Qatar4Ever October 25th, 2004, 08:34 PM During the iraq invasion of q8, there was a q8ity family who left q8 to AD. They went from saudi arabia to qatar to ad, because the route was shorter then going from saudi arabia to ad. After q8 was librated, they returned. Once they got to the boarder, there was a saudi army jeep which collected their passports and passports of many other q8ity coming back from uae and going to q8. the officer in the jeep asked them to follow them, and htey did till they got to the saudi boarder where he handed back their passports. they asked why cant they go into qatar from uae, the officer said this land no longer belongs to ad, its saudi and to enter qatar u must enter saudi arabia ... ever since that road that connected qatar to ad was sealed off by a barb wired gate with a saudi army jeep monitering it.. now we have to go 3/4 the way to 7assa just to go into ad...
BulldozerGirl November 21st, 2004, 05:24 PM The extra two hours drive still hasn't stopped Qataris from coming to the UAE. I can't find parking in Dubai because of Qatari cars :p
Qatar4Ever November 21st, 2004, 07:33 PM hehe me too.. i cant find parking in doha coz of qatari cars :D
three things qataris are in love with.. land crusier.. 9ynat il 3aysh.. and dubai!!
smussuw November 21st, 2004, 07:48 PM Q4E,
What the hell are you talking about? That area was ceded to Saudi Arabia in the border agreement between AbuDhabi and Saudi Arabia. In return they got Buraimi oasis area. This was like 30 years ago! And frankly, the UAE is anything but passive when it comes to territorial disputes. This is the country that kicked up a massive fuss with Iran over the lesser and greater Tunb. we all know that Saudi Arabia steal every decade a part of land from each of the neighbouring countries. Saudi Arabia didnt confese about the UAE until it gave it part of the land and that happened almost will all the neighbouring countries. They also used to moved towerd the borders before until Sheikh Zayed made some white line borders so that Saudi Arabia dont play with the borders. I used to rememeber that we fifnt have to go through KSA if we wanted to go to Qatar and even in schools we learned that we have borders with Qatar. pity we have only sea borders now. It wouldnt be a problem really despit that in the Saudi borders they treat us like cattle of sheep.
Qatar4Ever November 21st, 2004, 08:35 PM unfortuantly its true!! they border police have no idea how to treat humans like humans!! and ud better not complain.. it will make things only worset
Bahraini Spirit November 21st, 2004, 09:00 PM qatar4ever, i agree with u, same thing on the causeway, i remember last time, I went to saudi to pay condolences to my saudi neighbour and the guy wrote in my passport (Please change the pic) cause he thought i was too small in the pic (only 3 years younger) and I nearly killed him, cause he has no right to write in my passport. But to avoid any problems plus having no time to complain, i let it pass by. I changed my passport though. This doesn't apply to all saudis, so all of ya out there, don't think am generalizing or take it personally. It's the truth though, unfortunately.
BulldozerGirl November 22nd, 2004, 12:06 AM So why is Saudi Arabia interested in harrassing fellow Gulf residents at the borders? And why is it interested in grabbing strategic land and divide other countries?
Perhaps we should be more afraid of Saudi Arabia invading us, rather than worry about Iraq or Iran.
Qatar4Ever November 22nd, 2004, 10:38 AM why do you think qatar allowed america to set camp and a central command in qatar!
HiJazzey November 22nd, 2004, 11:06 PM Invading! Terrorising! How about nuking pillaging and raping while you're at it
If anything Saudi has been too easy going with you lot. A very firghtening neighbour would give free oil to it's neighbour, give aid and finance many of their infrastructure projects, open up its economy to the extent it damages local businesses (I want to see what Dubai would do if Saudi leaves the GCC), and foot the bill to liberate a neighbour which was so hefty it crippled the country for the next decade, whilst they didn't pay a penny.
And if you want to talk about bad treatment, look at how Saudis are treated in other gulf countries.
But then again, I know better than expect you not to bite the hand that feeds you.
Qatar4Ever November 22nd, 2004, 11:25 PM well im short on time and ill replay about your comments later, but one thing catched my eye was hen u said how saudis are treated in other gulf countries, maybe you should ask yourself how saudis act in other gulf countries then ull find the answer!! anyways i really hope you dont get upset over this..
HiJazzey November 23rd, 2004, 01:17 AM There are good people and bad people, like every other nationality. Besides, you don't hear of Lebanese people smashing up Saudi cars do you? Only in places like Bahrain. It's unacceptable.
Bahraini Spirit November 23rd, 2004, 03:39 AM dude were not pinpointing at saudis and labeling them, it's just a border issue. I understand when u talk about car smashing, but i tell you it happens a lot in other gulf countries but you never hear about it, and I've seen it. But that's not the point really, so don't take it personally. The issue is about the borders and related topics.
Qatar4Ever November 23rd, 2004, 07:11 AM Invading! Terrorising! Well I dont know about invading, however I am very concerned about terrorising. I know the saudi govt is doing its best to calm things down in the kingdon but things dont seem to get any better. I really wont be suprised if terrorist attacks get carried out anywhere in the gulf by saudis or from other gulf nationals who have been assigned by saudis.
As for qatar, im not sure when we got free oil, aid, finance or help in any way to build our infrastructure projects from saudi arabia.
open up its economy to the extent it damages local businesses What opening up are you talking about? Your economy is not even open for its own ppl! And what damage to the economy? The saudi economy is already damaged enough and I cant see how it can get any worse. Any company opening up in saudi arabia is probably to your benefit rather then to you disadvantage. Best example is Etislat of UAE and how it drove Saudi Telecom prices down and all.
I want to see what Dubai would do if Saudi leaves the GCC
Im very interested to see what happens if Saudi Arabia does pull out. Cause Im sure that still each spring our summer tens of thousands of saudi cars will still pack dubai. And the saudi will even invest more and more of their moeny into duabi if they pull out of the GCC. Infact if it does happen I think UAE will drop all of its agreements with Saudi arabia, expically the social ones conerning the non-empolyment of saudis in the public sector. So not only will you see capital moving from saudi to dubai, a big chunck of the population will migrate to dubai.
foot the bill to liberate a neighbour which was so hefty it crippled the country for the next decade, whilst they didn't pay a penny.
Please! Yeah like saddam was going to be happy with kuwait only and stop at the boarder and send flowers to saudi. Yes saudi picked up the bill to liberate q8, while at the same time pay to avoid any confrontation and probable takeover from iraq.
look at how Saudis are treated in other gulf countries. Really man go to bahrain or duabi and see how the saudi act over the weekend. Sorry but this needs no arguement.. just take a look.
On a lighter note saudi does play a large part of the gulf. It enough that places like bahrain and uae GDPs highly depend on Saudi tourism dolllars. Also many of the projects going up in the gulf, esipically in dubai and doha are financed by saudis, if not then they are being constructed by saudi compaines. The list really goes on, and im sure we all know to what extent saudi arabia plays in each of our countries economies.
But hajizzzy, all emtions aside, how are you kidding! Do you really think saudi arabia is getting any better! Im not trying to downsize saudi or anything like that, and i dont hate it! my dad grow up there and i still have a couple of uncles living in khobar and it really hurts me to see what is happing to saudi arabia. We all know saudi has the capital and the know how to compete with countries like france spain and ohters of that league.. bus look at what u have.. over 20% unemployement.. terrorism.. and the worest beacrucy ive seen in my entire life.. the gulf countries realize that the old system of doing thing isnt going to work in todays world and they all want to prepare themselves for tomorow.. they all seem to move in one direction while saudi arabia.. and this is very obvious in ur attitude when u replayed, refuses to move forward cause anything they dont suggest to the gulf seems not to work for them and they keep bringing up the old story of we are saudi arabia .. u guys are dwarfs.. we have mecca and medina.. we are an islamic country... and so on.. ya3ny what we sit and wait for saudi arabia to go down so we all go down with it!!
anyways i think this pretty sums it up.. by on a personal note.. inshalla u dont take any of this as offensive.. im just stating the obvious and all i said about saudi is not of hate or envy bil 3akes min 7er9y ow 7by likm .. and im sure ull say qatar is this or that, trust me i dont think qatar is any better than saudi arabia.. so i hope u dont think this is a war to see who has the better country.. fa man allaah!!
