View Full Version : The Commieblock city nr. 1 is ? De Snor October 24th, 2004, 09:12 AM You tell me ? sOmeOne October 24th, 2004, 11:29 AM Hah! Moscow obviously! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/b94280904/krylatskoye3.jpg /\ Krylatskoye district in 1994. Moscow is the #1 commieblock city in Europe. ch1le October 24th, 2004, 11:43 AM 1. Moscow 2. Kiev BIG GAP 3. Vilnius :D coth October 24th, 2004, 01:01 PM ^? How about St. Petersburg? It is definitely on second place. Vertigo October 24th, 2004, 01:57 PM Pyongyang definately. That entire city consists of commie blocks (well, 95 % of the buildings anyway) http://www.xs4all.nl/~davidee/Vertigo/PYON11.jpg http://www.xs4all.nl/~davidee/Vertigo/PYON09.jpg vinman October 24th, 2004, 03:33 PM So much commieblocks, that's beautiful! Singidunum October 24th, 2004, 05:07 PM Pyongyang Moscow and then any other city in EE. sOmeOne October 24th, 2004, 09:03 PM Heh, well, if we were talking about the entire world then the Chinese cities would get most of the cake. Because Moscow, even though it has most commieblocks in Europe, also has a big historical part which is somewhat untouched. Many Chinese cities are new and very dense. They do have historical cities too, which are very cool. Anyway, to tell you the truth Vilnius doesn't have that many commieblocks  Nightsky October 25th, 2004, 09:21 PM What about Brasilia? http://www.sitedotony.hpg.ig.com.br/cidades/brasilia.JPG [url]http://www.wsc.mass.edu/dept/mfl/images/brasilia.jpg(/url] However, I think Moscow or Pyongyang wins! Küsel October 25th, 2004, 09:24 PM Singapore is also quite extreme... and Bukarest (European Pyongyang)... and Shenzhen. Bukarest: http://www.remcomp.fr/~sylvie/RO/Bucarest.jpg Brasilia: I wouldn't say, most of the buildings are authority and office towers. OlekD October 25th, 2004, 10:25 PM I am able to say sth only about Europe , so: 1)Moscow 2)Kiev 3)Warsaw/Minsk/etc. Singidunum October 25th, 2004, 10:30 PM I jist got a strong feeling-I'D LOVE TO DRIVE THROUGH THAT STREET. I don`t have a license but imagine driving in sports car? No worries you'd kill someone or make a car crash :D Vespa October 25th, 2004, 10:39 PM I thought it was Hong Kong who was the commieblockcapital of the world. coth October 26th, 2004, 12:02 AM ^San Paulo Lindemann October 26th, 2004, 06:54 PM Well, Pyongyang can easily win because that city is just a Stalinist museum. John October 26th, 2004, 07:01 PM Moscow for the number and Pyongyang for the impression. Küsel October 26th, 2004, 08:03 PM ^San Paulo No, Sao Paulo has a lot of skyscrapers in the center, most of them office buildings or apartments for the rich. But most of the people live in houses. That's how most of SP looks like: View from our house in Osasco last year: http://www.socio.ch/maro/images/road2.jpg There are the so-called Cingapuras, commieblocks that replace the favelas - the people still can live in their neighbourhood but not anymore in shacks but in in blocks with full infrastructure. The biggest project at the moment is Parque do Gato close to the center: http://portal.prefeitura.sp.gov.br/secretarias/habitacao/habitasampa/2004/01_boletim/0002/portal/secretarias/habitacao/habitasampa/2004/01_boletim/0002/imagem/pg 8 - Favela do Gato.jpg coth November 24th, 2004, 01:33 PM @Kuesel center or not center - they have 48000 thousands of commieblocks... Küsel November 24th, 2004, 01:37 PM @Kuesel center or not center - they have 48000 thousands of commieblocks... Depends how you define commieblock. In Brazil the big condominios are for the upper class, and not like in Europe for the poor. There are the cingapuras which are social flats for the poor which replace the favelas in sito, but most of them are not built yet. CVRKI December 14th, 2004, 12:08 AM http://www.xs4all.nl/~davidee/Vertigo/PYON09.jpg :eek2: THIS IS GREAT !!! The whole world should be like this. redstone December 14th, 2004, 03:22 AM A city with over 10,000 highrise public flats, Singapore: http://home.pacific.net.sg/~teo10131/photos/City%201c.JPG http://home.pacific.net.sg/~teo10131/photos/City%203b.jpg http://skyscraperpage.com/gallery/data/500/300259.jpg http://skyscraperpage.com/gallery/data/500/85singapore_pano-med.jpg sOmeOne December 14th, 2004, 10:01 AM Oh damn, it's been a while since I visited the general european section! Beat this, Singapore! Moscow \/ http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/moskwa/2004_sept/moskwa_040918_9326.jpg http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/moskwa/2004_sept/moskwa_040918_9328.jpg http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/moskwa/2004_sept/moskwa_040918_9331.jpg http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/moskwa/2004_sept/moskwa_040918_9331_closeup.jpg http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/moskwa/2004_sept/moskwa_040918_9329.jpg http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/moskwa/2004_sept/moskwa_040918_9332.jpg http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/moskwa/2004_sept/moskwa_040918_9335.jpg http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/moskwa/2004_sept/moskwa_040918_9336.jpg pics by michau Yeah, and this is only the part of the city above which the planes fly. There are so many more commieblocks there :D sOmeOne December 14th, 2004, 10:02 AM If we had the time to post all this in the Emporis database, Moscow would be one of the top cities by the number of hirises :D Actually not just Moscow.. redstone December 14th, 2004, 04:25 PM http://e.1asphost.com/sssc/Panoramas/Pano-2a.jpg ^Look in the distance http://img31.exs.cx/img31/8381/sgaerial50kh.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v427/rotpics03/sgaerial4.jpg Got more, taken from Suntec City's rooftop deck hosted on SSC image host, which is down. I would find them when the server is up again. wc eend December 14th, 2004, 05:20 PM I don't think I would choose either Moscow or Singapore. For me the best commieblock city is one which consist for the biggest part of commieblocks, so it's about the percentage, not the absolute number. In this respect I think those 'forgotten' cities in Russia, North Korea or China have a big chance. redstone December 14th, 2004, 05:25 PM Don't forget Chinese cities on the rise. sOmeOne December 15th, 2004, 09:03 AM Singaporeans don't want to give up :D But it's all good, someday I shall move to Singapore and I love that city :) Nice shots  redstone December 15th, 2004, 09:06 AM I hope this won't erupt into a war of pictures. :) coth December 15th, 2004, 09:28 AM well, Singapore seems to be much larger than I thought sOmeOne December 21st, 2004, 11:58 PM Singapore is very big, a city of 4+ million, occupies an entire island.. Hobodog December 23rd, 2004, 11:24 PM Pyongyang is first...Not only is it a ton of commieblocks...but half of them were built only to never be filled. Those pictures show so many buildings that are practically empty...NK is a scary quiet place... SkylineTurbo December 24th, 2004, 05:07 AM Definately Pyongyang or Moscow. MIMICA December 25th, 2004, 08:50 AM Definately Pyongyang or Moscow. I guess I would say Pyongyang... sOmeOne December 25th, 2004, 09:26 AM Pyonhyang is smaller than Moscow.. CborG December 26th, 2004, 03:08 AM But Pyong Yang is 95% commieblock, far more than moscow sOmeOne December 28th, 2004, 08:50 AM There are towns in Russia that are 100% commieblock for that matter. Phallic January 2nd, 2005, 07:54 AM There are towns in Russia that are 100% commieblock for that matter. Really? Do you have any pictures? Otherwise I would have to call Pyongyang as the commieblock city no. 1 AnnubiX April 27th, 2005, 05:52 PM Well, but they are not capital cities... LONG LIVE TO BIG CAMARADE KIM JONG IL! LONG LIVE TO PYONGJANG! LONG LIFE TO COMMIEBLOCKS!! Küsel April 28th, 2005, 01:20 AM ^you are absolutly right! I think the only city that comes close to it is Bucharest... and also Lisboa! |
