With over 60,500 attending last nights game in Dublin the IR test concept is well and truly alive. The Aussies at least put a lot more effort and physicallity into the second game than they did in the first game thrashing.
Im looking forward to the next series in Australia.

It was a great game. I see you neglected to mention the score ;). It was a good sized crowd considering we beat you badly in the first test. The trip down under next year will be much closer I reckon(home advantage and more Aussi players).Anyway hard luck, I would wish you luck for next year but I want us to win again:)

Forget the game.

That dog was the funniest thing I have ever seen!

It was on the ball in the first few minutes, then played midfield for the next few, finally started making aimless leads up and down the corridor. Ended up being unceremoniously dragged.

Much like the Pig incident at the SCG that time.

Can you explain the animals bit, I watched some of the games in an Irish pub in London, and I don't know what you are talking about. It was embaressing seeing the Aussies get thrashed like they did, they seem to have forgotten every football skill they have. You would expect them to be able to kick endless 3 pointers, but they didn't seem to have a clue near the goals.

Not really, the stadium can hold 82,000 and in previous tests it was sold out.

The main problem with the Aussies I think is the ball.... I mean it is so different to handle from the footy they use all year, they just don't seem to have the confidence in skills when passing or kicking the round ball. Add that to the fact it was not our best team out there (IMHO anyway), and the Irish are just too damn good to give that sort of head start too. Anyway, we'll beat them next year on the return leg! Loving this International rules :D

Game starts.

Dog runs on field.

Dog chases the ball wherever it goes.

Seven very funny minutes.

Its very difficult for the AFL players to kick the round ball as it goes against the natural action of kicking the oval ball. They must learn to kick around the body, not kick in a direct line which is more natural.

The aussies do quite well considering the difficulties of the round ball.

hmm i wonder why the decline in numbers.

Oh wells next year more people will come to see that infamous Dog :D

Maybe the NRL can get their own dog to increase match attendances HAHAHA.

Well the series was effectively over with Australia so far behind.

So to get more than 60,000 to watch what was virtually a dead rubber was an excellent result.

Ooh so the series was closer last year?

Why did Australia get smashed? Well i dont know the actual score but people said we got smashed?

The series last year was closer with a sell-out in Perth and a good crowd in Melbourne.

Why did we get smashed?

Take your soccer ball to a field and try to kick it through the goals on the run.

Its very difficult.

72,000 is the most that has attended an IR match at Croke Park. Still over 60,000 to a game that no ones plays is sensational.

when it was last played in Croke Park the stadium was in the middle of being rebuilt and only had a capacity of 72,000.

A story from the BBC about Brock the dog who ran on to the field (happy ending).
