View Full Version : How to stop flame-wars?
DiggerD21 October 25th, 2004, 01:07 AM Recently I have watched some threads which were hijacked and turned into flame-wars. One person makes insulting comments, the next one picks up these insults and makes personal insults and so on.
My opinion: Everyone who makes insulting comments (like "you fucking idiot") should get banned, prisoned or warned, no matter who started the flame-war or how high his prestige is in the forums. If one is warned or imprisoned several times, he will be banned next time (it is like a credit-point-system).
Perhaps there are only some more able moderators necessary.
RafflesCity October 25th, 2004, 03:24 AM personal insults on this forum can result in a brig or a ban.
let the mods know if you see this happening.

jmancuso October 25th, 2004, 05:14 AM what is it about this forum that attracts immaturity as opposed to SSP? is it that their level of tolerance is lower? also, something else i have noticed - people who are banned come backunder a different alias, get banned again and continue the cycle...
at SSP, if someone is banned, that's it, they're gone for good.

Both sites have different styles and standards of moderation basically. We have more members here at SSC, meaning the greater possiblity of trolls too.
The Game Is Up October 26th, 2004, 11:28 PM End all nationalistic "vs." threads immediately! That's my suggestion.

No way, I disagree. These can be argued in a controllable way between the mature by using remarks such as "respectfully" and others. Also, they are fun sometimes!
A suggestion is make a seperate thread for the unmature, where they can argue about their ways by flaming, but I'll tell you right now, a person who flames, looses respect, and it's their choice to flame.

yup, i agree. it does spice up the forum somehow if one can look at it as rapid mentioned : a person who flames, looses respect, and it's their choice to flame.
