I heard construction now extends up to the far end of the property ( one hectare baya ni ) but picture taking is limited only up to this side coz that part of the U/C is concealed behind houses.

Construction begins on Butuan gateway

By MIKE U. CRISMUNDO
September 23, 2011, 5:39pm

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — A multi-million road construction to build a gateway to the capital city of Butuan in Northeastern Mindanao (Caraga region) is now in full swing.

The P71 million “Bancasi Airport section: NRJ Antongalon Section road construction project” of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will establish an entry point going to the five provinces and six cities in the Caraga region.

At the center of the rotunda will rise a P50-million “Balangahai” Shrine and Chinese monument.

According to Region XIII DPWH Regional Director Danilo E. Versola, the target completion of the Bancasi Airport Section project is on August 7, 2012

The scope of works of the project includes the construction and concreting of rotunda-3 lanes with paved shoulder, pavement markings, sidewalk and center island, earthworks, sub-base and surface course drainage and slope protection, said Versola.

This project is one of the 15 projects being implemented by the DPWH regional office in 2011 with a total appropriation of P1.4 billion.

The project is complemented by the proposed Butuan-China Friendship Park-cum-museum to be constructed inside the rotunda, said Versola.

When completed, the road will give easy access to Bancasi airport in the north, a by-pass road on the south, Butuan to Surigao-Davao road on the east and Butuan to Cagayan de Oro City-Iligan City road on the west, he said.

Multi-million-dollar aquaculture/hydroponics project up in Butuan City

BUTUAN CITY, Jan. 30 (PIA) – This city will see the rise of a multi-million-dollar aquaculture and hydroponics farm this year.

Greenphil Aqua-Culture and Hydroponics Holding, Inc., through its subsidiary, the Caraga Green Aqua Farm and Hydroponics Development Corporation, is already moving ahead to construct their modern aquaculture and hydroponics facilities at Barangay Kinamlutan, this city.

Officials of the firm already paid a courtesy call to city officials, conducted on-site inspection and in the process of requiring city permit, documentation and other business and legal papers for their operation within the year.
Greenphil will develop and produce high-quality, export-oriented seafood products and fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants to meet the rising global demands.

Once operational, the project will provide numerous jobs and propel the local fishery industry to global competitiveness.

“This investment is a big factor for the city’s favor, in terms of income and employment generation,” said City Councilor Ryan Anthony Culima on Friday. (MUC/PIA-Caraga)

US investors eye Butuan project

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — Investors from the United States visited this city last Tuesday looking for a possible site for the construction of a Solid Waste (SW) Bio-Reactor Project (BRP).

The group of Environmend Systems, along with their Philippine counterpart, paid a courtesy call to the city officials led by Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante, Jr. at the City Mayor’s Office and expressed willingness to establish a $5-million SW-BRP project in this region’s frontier and capital city.

“The purpose of their visit to our city was to personally see the proposed plant site, the actual condition of the present dumping site, and to talk to us about the project,” said Amante.

He lauded the environment-friendly project which he said will add employment opportunities to villagers.

“We will submit our official proposal once our American partners are convinced on the feasibility of the project,” said Felino M. Cortez, the local counterpart of the Environmend Systems Group.

The American investors personally visited Barangay Sumilihon and other possible places where the SW-BRP plant may be constructed.

Construction begins on Butuan gateway

Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils Inc turns over P4 M project to Butuan City gov't

by Jennifer P. Gaitano

http://www.pia.gov.ph/?m=1&t=1&id=63100

BUTUAN CITY, Nov. 9 (PIA) -- The Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Incorporated has officially turned over the P4-million Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project dubbed "PPP-BBQ KIOSK" to the city government here with Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr Nov. 8. It was held at Silongan corner A.D. Curato Sts and witnessed by city officials and stakeholders.
Mayor Amante said that Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils. Inc., with its 100 years of existence in the country, continues to satisfy the Filipino people in its products.
“Thank you Coca-Cola Bottlers for choosing Butuan City and for being our partner in this project… We were only then thinking of a 1-M project but Coca-Cola has extended it to 4-M just to ensure that Butuanons would really enjoy the kiosk, as well as enjoy Coca-Cola beverages,” Amante said.
City Economic Enterprise and Development Office (CEEDO) Manager Ma. Ruth Jugao said the city government is very much happy to accept the "PPP-BBQ KIOSK". She also assured the Coca-Cola Bottlers, through the Territory Sales Manager for Butuan Elmer Ian Pabatao, that the city government will do its responsibilities especially in maintaining the cleanliness of said kiosk.
Pabatao said they partner with other local government units but it is only in Butuan where they sees the booming economic growth that made them decide to extend the cost of project to P4 million.
“I promise three things to the city government and these are: to satisfactorily serve all the stall vendors; ensure quality production of the Coca-Cola; and to continuously coordinate with the barangay officials here who will also ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the area,” said Pabatao.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Josefina Cabrera, Stall Owners Association President in Butuan City thanked the Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils. Inc. and the city government for providing them a well-ventilated venue/kiosk where they can better serve their customers.
With this development, the city government is encouraging Butuanons to patronize the "PPP-BBQ KIOSK" and support partnership of the two parties. (PIA-Caraga)

Japan sees Butuan City as site of PPP pilot projects
Posted by admin on Sep 11th, 2011

http://www.usnewslasvegas.com/provincial/japan-sees-butuan-city-as-site-of-ppp-pilot-projects/

The frontier and capital city of Butuan in Mindanao is being chosen as the pilot city of Japan Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) projects as several untapped business opportunities are being seen for economic development.
Based on their actual site inspection, the visiting Japanese delegation, composed of economists, engineers and academicians had seen biogas waste as potential to energize Caraga region and also found the rich and fast growing forests plantations as suitable for producing wood pellets.
The Eight-Japan Engineering Consultants Inc. and EJ Business Partners Co., Ltd. are also proposing to establish solid waste for energy project in Butuan City, creating gas using digester with bio-degradable and sale of electric power created by gas engine.

SOCA - Mayor of Butuan...

Source: http://www.butuan.gov.ph/home/component/content/article/1-latest/439-state-of-the-city-address-2011-of-hon-mayor-ferdinand-m-amante-jr-full-unedited-text.html

We want to transform Butuan into an organic center through a self-sufficient green revolution which will bring more livelihood and economic growth.

44 infrastructure projects will be started in September this year all over the rural and the urban barangays and there will be more of it before the end of the year.

The Chinese Government has manifested interest in the 1.5 hectare Elliptical Rotonda. At the center will be the China-Butuan Friendship Gate and the Balangay monument, a PPP Project between the Local Government of Butuan, the DPWH, & the Chinese Government. This P140M Project in Bancasi will commemorate the 1,000 years of Butuan’s trade relation with China.

The National Museum will soon restart the excavation of the remaining Balangays in Barangay Libertad and we hope that with the approved P10 Million grant from TIEZA, we can establish an Archeological Park in the area, up to the Bood Eco-Park. This Archaeological Park will be the first of its kind in the Philippines.

Together with the Department of Trade and Industry and the Butuan City Chamber of Commerce we can lure more investors by promoting investment packages in the Regional Center in Tiniwisan for more revenue and more economic activity for our people.

We will also appeal to all the National Line Agencies, professional groups and the private sector and the academe, to host at least one regional or Mindanao-wide seminar, conference or convention, to pump our economy into one of the most vibrant economies in Mindanao.

We will do our best to complete the Sports Complex after a long 20 years of doing nothing, and dream to bid for the 2014 Palarong Pambansa here in Butuan City.

As we have completed the different infrastructure projects of the past administration, we have envisioned to continue the South Public Market construction on a Build Operate Transfer scheme and the SP Hall on a progressive but downscale approach to save up the funds of the government.

Toyo University Presents Final Report on “PPP Possibilities for the Future of Butuan City”

http://www.butuan.gov.ph/home/component/content/article/1-latest/523-toyo-university-presents-final-report-on-ppp-possibilities-for-the-future-of-butuan-city.html

(November 14, 2011) Tokyo, Japan - Toyo University PPP Research Center presented today its final report on “PPP Possibilities for the Future of Butuan City” at the Japanese university’s main campus in Tokyo, Japan. The presentation was attended by the Butuan delegation composed of representatives from the LGU, led by City Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante, Jr., with representatives from the business and academe sectors of Butuan City.

The Butuanons were formally welcomed by Dr. Makio Takemura, President of Toyo University, and Prof. Yuji Nemoto, PPP Research Center Principal. Also present to witness the presentation were Mr. Geoffrey Hamilton and Mr. Michael Flynn, PPP experts from the United Nations, and Mr. Froilan Pamintuan of the Philippine Embassy in Japan.

The final report contained observations in the fields of agriculture, recycling, renewable energy, economic enterprise and tourism. The most noteworthy recommendations include the mechanization of the agriculture industry, the conversion of waste to energy and the use of wood pellets as biomass fuel. Prof. Sam Tabuchi, team leader of the group that conducted the study, emphasized that Butuan City is rich in timber and has the ability to grow trees, such as falcata and ipil-ipil, in three to five years. He says that this is a major advantage over Western countries which need approximately 40 years to grow trees for biomass fuel production.

In his response, Mayor Amante expressed that his administration is serious about the current efforts to strengthen Public-Private Partnership in Butuan, in line with the PPP advocacy of Pres. Noynoy Aquino, and that the City Government is committed to work on the recommendations of Toyo University for economic development in Butuan City.

The presentation of the report is a component of the MOU between Toyo University and the City Government of Butuan which allowed Toyo University PPP Research Center to conduct a study on possible Public-Private Partnership Projects in Butuan City. A team from Toyo University conducted interviews and site inspections in Butuan City last September. The study marks the first time that Toyo University conducted such study outside Japan, choosing Butuan City as its first non-Japanese LGU subject.

Today’s event also included the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for academic, scientific and cultural cooperation and exchange between Toyo University, Caraga State University, Father Saturnino Urios University, Saint Joseph Institute of Technology, and the City Government of Butuan. It was immediately followed by a business forum, where Mayor Amante presented Butuan’s investment opportunities to potential Japanese investors, and a reception dinner hosted by Toyo University for the Butuanon guests. – CMO-PIO

Partnership to boost Butuan economy

By MIKE U. CRISMUNDO
November 18, 2011, 3:33pm

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – The Japan-Butuan Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) move is seen as a very positive business outlook and is also expected to provide impetus to the city’s economic growth in next year and beyond.

This landmark partnership developed during the Asia Pacific Public-Private-Partnership Forum held at the Tokyo Convention Center in Japan early this week.

In the forum, Toyo University president Makio Takemura, and PPP Research Center head Professor Yuji Nemoto presented the investment opportunities here.

Also present during the investment presentation were Geoffrey Hamilton and Michael Flynn, PPP experts from the United Nations’ (UN), and Froilan Pamintuan of the Philippine Embassy in Japan.

In this gathering before Japan businessmen, the Toyo University PPP Research Center presented the "PPP Possibilities for the Future of Growing Butuan City.”

The presentation of the report is a component of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Toyo University and the city government of here that allowed the Toyo University PPP Research Center to conduct a study on possible PPP Projects in this city.

It was learned that a team from Toyo University conducted interviews and site inspections here last September.

It was also learned that this is the first time that Toyo University conducted such study outside Japan, choosing this city as its first non-Japanese local government unit (LGU) subject.

The report contained “highly potential investments” in the fields of agriculture, recycling, renewable energy, economic enterprise, and tourism.

The most noteworthy recommendations include the mechanization of the agriculture industry, the conversion of waste to energy, and the use of wood pellets as biomass fuel.

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – The economic growth of this city in the Caraga Region continues to flourish as more business investments are expected to come.

As this developed, the national government is expected to expand the runway of the Bancasi Airport in an objective to accommodate bigger aircraft and additional flights to cater to the growing number of passengers and cargo handling.

The Philippine Ports Authority and Department of Transportation and Communications also allocated funds for the expansion of the Masao Port in Barangay Lumbocan, also this city. (Mike Crismundo)

Mindanao‘s biggest mall to open soon
Tuesday, September 20, 2011
Sun Star By Nelson C. Bagaforo

http://www.smprime.com/smprime/index.php?p=587&type=2&sec=49&aid=9760

GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- SM City General Santos, Mindanao's biggest mall is set to open in the first quarter of next year in this city, touted as the country's "tuna capital", targeting a huge retail market in one of the country’s fastest growing regions, the Soccsksargen area.

SM Prime Holdings, Inc. president Hans T. Sy, on Sunday said SM Gensan has a total floor area of 150,000 square meters, including the parking area, situated in a 17-hectare property they are leasing from one of the city’s pioneering families -- the Salazars.

Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.

"This our biggest in Mindanao," Sy told Sun.Star Davao.

Sy was in this city to grace the opening of newly widened 440 meter San Miguel street in Lagao, where one of the entrances of the mall is located. SM Prime Holdings spent P4 million for the project.

Also at the event are city officials, led by City Mayor Darlene Antonino, Representative Pedro Acharon and the Salazar matriarch Sufradia Las Marias Salazar.

The property where SM Gensan stands is covered by a 20-year lease contract entered by SM Prime Holdings and the Salazars.

"Everytime we invest in a place, we always see that we have the return of investment in 9-10 years, so the 10-year contract would be okay," Sy said.

Sy said total investment they have poured in for the construction of the Gensan mall, which is now 90 percent complete, is pegged at P2.5 billion, much higher than their investment for the construction of SM Lanang in Davao City, placed at P2 billion. SM Lanang is targeted to be completed in the last quarter of next year.

"This is our thrust. We want to intensify our presence in Mindanao," Sy said, but was quick to add SM has no plan of getting hold or monopolize the retail market on the island.

"We are here not to eat the pie, but we’re here to make the pie bigger," he said.

Sy said their next target in Mindanao, after the opening of SM Lanang next year, are the cities of Butuan and Zamboanga.

"These are the two areas we are looking at. The property we eye for the construction of these malls is now under negotiation," he said.

Hydropower plants up in Butuan
By MIKE U. CRISMUNDO
December 15, 2011, 3:01pm

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – The effort of the city government here and the local business group on public-private-partnership finally bared fruit Wednesday afternoon when a Japanese firm and three local business firms inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to construct run-to-river mini-hydropower plants in this region’s frontier and capital city in the Caraga Region.

The setting up of multi-million-peso run-to-river hydropower plants in this city will be a big boost to the national government’s Mindanao power generation program for 2012 and beyond, business analysts here said.

The signing of MoU at a hotel and convention center was witnessed by city officials led by Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante Jr. and Vice Mayor Lawrence Fortun; Yuji Munehiro, general manager of business planning division/business promotion group Toe (traffic operations engineer) of the CHODAI, Co., Ltd.; Satoshi Kato, manager, business planning and development division; Motohide Takano, vice-president of the Twinpeak Hydro Resources Corporation (THRC); Hendrick R. Menegdeg, president of the Hydro Resources Management and Consultancy, Inc.; and other local business leaders.

Signatories of the MOU include Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada, chief operating officer of the Equi-Parco Construction (EPC) Company, and Director Akinori Ido P.E. Jp. of CHODAI, Co. Ltd., a “Kabushiki Kaisha” group based in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan.

Under the MoU, the EPC, CHODAI, and THRC agreed to initially establish run-to-river mini hydropower plants in the Taguibo and Asiga rivers here.

The Japanese and local partners also agreed to help one another to establish two power plants producing 2.4 megawatts and 2.6 megawatts in Taguibo River, and another eight megawatts in Asiga River.

Under the MoU, the parties agreed for the grant of an exclusive right to explore, develop, operate, manage, and utilize hydro power resources in the said rivers.

“This power project in Butuan is a big help to Butuanons, and also a plus factor to the growing industries in this part of Mindanao. This is also a big support to our national government’s power generation in Mindanao,” said businessman Ronnie Vic Lagnada.

Investors eye 2 power generation projects in Butuan
The Philippine Star Updated December 19, 2011 12:00 AM

http://www.philstar.com/nation/article.aspx?publicationSubCategoryId=67&articleId=759832

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Two Japanese companies are set to invest in power generation projects in this city, Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr. said.

Amante said EJ Holdings Inc. has expressed interest in putting up a waste-to-energy project through the operation of a sanitary landfill in Dumalagan town.

The company has already applied for a loan with the Japan International Cooperation Agency to fund a feasibility study for the landfill operation. It also signed a memorandum of understanding with the city government for the conduct of the study.

The Chodai Group, on the other hand, would like to put up a hydropower project in the province. It conducted ocular inspections here and is set to discuss and perform additional feasibility studies.

Power generation projects are among the 11 priority Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects presented by Amante to potential investors during a recent investment trip to Japan.

The PPP projects include corporate farming and agro-forestry with farm-to-market roads as support infrastructure; development of the Masao Container Port, airport and waterways; and water system and renewable energy development.

Other projects are human resources and tourism development, housing, completion of the south market or integrated business center, drainage development and major rehabilitation of roads and bridges, solid waste management, organic food production, and upgrading of the Butuan Medical Center.

Last month, a Japanese PPP research center reported that Butuan City is ideal for PPP investment opportunities in agriculture and renewable energy.

The report contained observations in the fields of agriculture, recycling, renewable energy, economic enterprise and tourism.

Recommendations included the mechanization of the agriculture industry, the conversion of waste to energy, and the use of wood pellets as biomass fuel.

DPWH allots P15.3-M road maintenance budget for Butuan City in 2012
by Robert E. Roperos

BUTUAN CITY, Dec. 18 (PIA) -– The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Butuan City District Engineering Office (BCDEO) has allotted P15,307,000 for the road maintenance of this city in 2012.

The announcement was made by BCDEO Planning Engr. Rey Canlas in an interview with a local broadcaster here recently, saying roads in the city must be well-maintained so that this will last for a long period of time.

“Naa ta’y budget nga P15,307,000 for the whole year para sa atong maintenance sa kalsada sa national highway sa Butuan City area,” Canlas said.

(We have a budget allocation amounting to P15,307,000 for the whole year for the maintenance of roads in the national highway in Butuan City area.)

Engr. Canlas said aside from developing farm-to-market and barangay roads, DPWH is also focusing on the maintenance of the roads. “Through this, the local government could be able to save money,” he added.

The BCDEO official also said part of the budget will go to the wages of the workers who will maintain the said infrastructure project.

He added these workers are under the “Kalsada Natin, Alagaan Natin” program of the national government.

The nationwide program aimed to implement maintenance and infrastructure development particularly on road projects. (PIA-Caraga)

City gov’t backs PPA projects in Butuan City

by Robert E. Roperos

http://piacaraga.blogspot.com/

BUTUAN CITY, Dec. 24 (PIA) -- Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Port Manager Renato Tolinero recently said the city government here is regularly supporting their projects, particularly in the development of the Masao Port in Brgy. Masao here.

According to Tolinero, the local government through Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr. supports the development of Masao Port that will help boost the economic condition of the city.

Tolinero said since the city is the regional center of Caraga Region, there must be a stable port here and not to be dependent in the Nasipit Port in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.

The official added this is because the Nasipit Port is already congested. “Thus, decongestion must be made in the said port in Agusan del Norte,” Tolinero said.

The PPA manager here added the Nasipit Port is considered the only passenger port where major shipping lines are docked and serving the passengers in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, as well as nearby provinces in Caraga Region and in Northern Mindanao.

The development of the port of Masao was planned out during the previous administration through the late former City Mayor Democrito D. Plaza II and is set to be continued in the present administration through Mayor Amante. (PIA-Caraga)

Butuan City’s revenue tops P300 M
by Robert E. Roperos

BUTUAN CITY, Dec. 30 (PIA) -- The city government here has collected tax revenue amounting to more than P300 million after Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr. assumed the position 19 months ago.

In an interview with a radio station here, City Councilor Ryan Anthony Culima, chairman of the Committee on Trade and Industry said for over one and a half year of Mayor Amante’s administration, the city government was able to overcome the budget deficit of the previous administration.

Culima added when Mayor Amante assumed the position, he inherited a budget deficit of some P24 million from the previous administration.

“Sa paglingkod sa office ni Mayor Jun Amante, aduna’y budget deficit nga kapin kon kulang 24 milyones ka pesos… Karong panahuna, after more or less one and a half years, adunay savings nga more or less 300 million pesos nga cash… So makita nato kung gi-unsa pag-manage sa administrasyon ni Mayor Amante ang panudlanan sa dakbayan,” Culima said.

(When Mayor Jun Amante assumed to office, there is a budget deficit of some P24 million… At present, after more or less one and a half years, we have incurred savings of some P300 million cash… So, we can see how the Amante administration managed the financial aspect of the city.)

The official also said more infrastructure projects are lined-up and are set to be implemented next year that will attract business investors.

Culima further said some business investors have already expressed their intentions to put investments here, an indication that these businessmen have confidence in the administration of Mayor Amante.

Meanwhile, in a previous press conference with Mayor Amante, the official said Robinsons Department Store is set to start the construction of Robinson’s Mall next year. He also said negotiation is on-going between the city government and SM Supermarket.

Culima said this is the result of the transparency and accountability governance exercised by Mayor Amante, supporting the flagship program of the Aquino administration as emphasized in the Philippine Development Plan. (PIA-Caraga)

DOST grants P1.2M to Butuan City for eco project

by Rio Connie Leah M. Flores

BUTUAN CITY, Agusan del Norte, Jan. 9 (PIA) -- The start of 2012 proved to be bountiful for the city government here after receiving P1.2 million from the Regional Office of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The amount is intended for one bioreactor unit which will be used to convert biodegradable waste into fertilizer, in support of the city’s Clean Ground, Zero Waste Program (CGZW).
DOST-Caraga Regional Director Lyndo Villacorta personally handed over the cheque to City Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr. and CGZW Program Coordinator Ruth Jugao recently.
A bioreactor is a machine that grinds and converts biodegradable solid waste into compost, a good fertilizer for vegetable crops.
Biodegradable waste includes spoiled or wilted vegetables, fruit peels, meat/fruit/vegetable trimmings, food leftovers, fish entrails and trimmings, leaves and twigs and seeds.
According to Jugao, the Langihan Public Market is one of the major sources of biodegradable waste daily. Currently, biodegradable wastes from the market are distributed to Barangays Ampayon and Bit-os for the vermiculture project.
Dr. Villacorta further said he is glad that DOST was tapped to take part in strengthening the campaign on Solid Waste Management as part of the convergence efforts between the city government and Regional Line Agencies for a more efficient public service to the people of this city. Butuan ‘fishing-village’ restaurant soon to open
Saturday, 04 February 2012 00:00

WHILE fastfoods and restaurants were sprouting up in Butuan's business center, a new type of dine-out is now being developed in an outskirt of the city and offers variety of freshwater fish foods instead of serving meat products, seafood and chicken barbeques. Christopher Lindo, owner of the GML agri-ventures, said the idea of putting up an outskirt aqua-food restaurant is to provide alternative venue for a growing health-conscious people who turn away meat products in favor of fi sh and vegetables. "It's just like a fishing village-type restaurant in the city's outskirt with a rural ambiance," said Lindo in an interview while feeding pellets to catfishes in his two grow-out earth ponds in Villakananga village at the city's southern side. Hopefully, he said, the ongoing constructions of a fish farm, an Athensinspired hotel and a restaurant building including a park in a 1.5 hectare Land can catch up with their target of a grand opening in mid-year. Unlike other restaurants and fastfoods including eateries that usually serve meat products and chickens, Lindo said they would serve better varieties of freshwater fishes that are available in the village's ponds. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regional office lists at least five fastfoods and 47 restaurants including eateries in Butuan, the Caraga's regional center, which has a total population of 298,378 (2007 census) distributed in 86 barangays, 36 of which are classified as urban.

Shall be in Butuan soon. Many years ago there used to be a few restaurants with music that one could listen to whilst dining. The one we always used was the new Narra just round the corner from Rizal Square. I dont think it is there any more.
Can anyone suggest a really good place to eat and listen to music. Please please-- NOT the disco type of music etc.

Thanks.

SUPER GOOD NEWS!

PPA Nangandam sa Implementasyon sa Pagpahalapad sa Pantalan
by Dxbn Butuan on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 10:15am ·

Glad to see that that corner in Butuan will finally have a building. That area has been occupied with tiangges and pirated DVD stalls for the longest time despite it being a prime location in the city.

The presence of Jollibee and Mc Donald's there will definitely make that area vibrant and bustling. I hope to see more fastfood chains there like KFC, Wendy's or perhaps Starbucks. hehe..

Took this chance to snap a portion of Regatta East Village on my way to L.A.
They are still into site development for now. The house designs offered are much like the 60's - 70's with a neo/techno touch to it. Sleek and elegant.

A big help to ease the volume of rainwater that has plagued this side of the boulevard during rainy days. Across this is the old, bigger open drainage canal. Sadly, it's congested with (but not full of) trash, I just wanna make that emphasis lest I may be misquoted.

A RLC consultant/engineer conducted an open forum at Barangay Bayanihan this afternoon. I think this was attended mostly by the barangay residents and business owners in the area. Handouts were provided which I was able to read, so far I was able to a scan page for the rendering only. Confirmed it's a 3 storey structure wherein Go Hotel will be at the top floor. Pasensya if di kaayo klaro ang pag ka scan. it was done in a hurry.

Got the pertinent data for Rob Place Bxu. This as per the handouts provided from yesterday's dialogue with consultant/engineer. Sorry I was not able to scan it, but I hope this will suffice:

1. Shopping Mall (41,889.74 sq. m.) - 3 storey building will include Robinsons Dept.Store, Supermarket,Cinemas, Food Court and For Lease Spaces)
2. Go Hotel (5,029.39 sq.) - 5 Level Building atop the mall - 175 rooms
3. Parking Area Outdoor (5,187.50 sq. m.) - Parking areas at the rear, sided and fron of the mall with total of 415 parking slots.
4. Landscaped Areas (1,053.11sq. m.)
5. Area For Future Development (33,347.48 sq. m.)

Area Allocation

1. Supermarket - 3,826.90 sq.m.
2. Retail Speciaty Shops(1st flr) - 4,096.71
3. Department Store ( 2nd Flr) 4,128.94

AMANTE STARTS P97.7M FLOOD PROJECT IN GROUNDBREAKING RITE

By PAT SAMONTE
and JOEL PORTUGAL

BUTUAN City––Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr. has formally started a P97.7 million project aimed at solving this city’s perennial flood problem.
In a groundbreaking ceremony, Amante said the project consists of three components: construction of a main drainage canal along Teofilo Sanchez Street, construction of another drainage canal along Montilla Boulevard and rehabilitation/cleaning and declogging of the drainage canal junction from T. Calo Street to Villakananga Creek.
The construction work will affect a wide area covering Barangays Golden Ribbon, Rajah Soliman, Diego Silang, Villakananga, Maon, J.P. Rizal, Silongan, Agao and Tandang Sora, but the benefits will be reaped in the long term, he said.
According to Amante, the project will deflect rain water to rivers, creeks and other waterways to keep residents safe from floods and give guests and visitors as well as investors comfort while travelling in the city.
Since natural calamities like floods are caused by illegal logging and illegal mining, he called on the public to help government in its effort to protect our forests and to support the city government’s clean waste program.
Amante said the flood control project is financed by the Local Government Support Fund of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (P60 million) and the city government (P37,723,917).

GMA readies Butuan station
Posted on May 01, 2012 10:15:18 PM
http://www.bworldonline.com (http://www.bworldonline.com/content.php?section=Corporate&title=GMA-readies-Butuan-station&id=50965)
BROADCASTER GMA Network, Inc. is seeking a permit to put up a television station in Butuan City, documents from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) showed.

The broadcaster on April 23 applied for a certificate of public convenience to install, operate and maintain a five-kilowatt ultra high frequency TV station in the Agusan Del Norte city.

“It is respectfully prayed unto this honorable commission that the foregoing exhibits be admitted in evidence and that the corresponding order be issued as may be proper under the circumstances,” GMA Network said in an NTC filing.

Already, the company has an affiliate station in Butuan City. However, affiliate stations are not owned by the company, they are usually owned by local Filipino businessmen who rebroadcast the broadcaster’s originating signal during specific time block for negotiated fixed fees, according to GMA Network.

The company, as of 2011, operates a total of 74 TV stations throughout the country, 35 of which are in Luzon, 18 are in Visayas and the rest are in Mindanao, according to the network’s annual report.

GMA Network ended the previous year with P1.715 billion net income after tax, down by 39.01% from P2.812 billion recorded in 2010 due to the absence of political advertisements seen in the 2010 election year.

The company is looking to spend P650 million this year, largely for two regional stations in Ilocos and Bicol.

Shares of GMA slid by 1.96% to P9.98 on Monday. -- Cliff Harvey C. Venzon
