Architect: P&T Architects

The project: This building is a headquarters for AzerEnerji, the state provider of power for a whole of Azerbaijan. P&T Architects was therefore tasked with producing a building that is highly secure and functional, but equally interesting in terms of design. The 28-storey tower is capped with a triple high lounge space with views across Baku. The ground floor, meanwhile, holds a museum for the founder of the modern state of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev.

Key points: The building is critical as a hub for Azerbaijan's energy needs, and its importance was reflected in the design. Electricity is expressed in the tension between the three tower elements where the central element is sticking out at an angle, as well as by illuminating the core on all floors seen from a distance as a large central element of energy. The form of the building is designed to reflect both importance and authority, sitting on a 1.4 meter base above street level.

Может быть, мое мнение и поменяется - я не категоричный человек.
Покажет время и реализация проекта. Но пока, не впечатлило. Хочется большей высоты, чтобы скайлайн Баку приобрел размашистую линию ЭКГ, линию символизирующую жизнь.

А я не хочу чтобы мы стали прототипом Дубая. Несколько 200-300 метровых башен будет более чем достаточно.

Я тоже за самобытность Баку. Но наличие высотных зданий не сделает его похожим на Дубаи (хотя почему именно Дубаи, а не, например, Шанхай :)). Дубаи слишком бездушный... ему очень далеко до Баку по этому показателю.
Насколько мне известно, 200-метрового уровня достигнет пока что не построенные Socar-tower и высотка из Crescent Place. Быть может, еще и Sky Park, если оживет. Не так-то уж много. Поэтому-то психология находится в режиме ожидания чего-то более высокого. Конечно, иной аспект, это сейсмоопасность региона... Надеюсь, новые высотки достатосно устойчивы.

P.S. Baku when was established as a city Dubai that time may be was fishermen village.

Dubai was sand desert during whole time, Baku was always established city, not big but it was one of those ancient cities with great history like Jerusalem, Istanbul and so on.

AzerEnerji is a Government corporation providing electric power to Azerbaijan. This is expressed in the architecture of the new headquarters building: electricity is expressed in the tension between the three tower elements where the central element is sticking out at an angle and by illuminating the core on all floors seen from a distance as a large central element of energy. The Government connection is expressed by a serene and efficient design that is not gimmicky but is clean and simple but not boring or running the risk of outdating.

The location along the airport road makes the tower stand out, and the described core lighting will be seen by people going to or coming from the airport, thus be one of the first impressions of Baku and Azerbaijan for visitors to the country. The exposure brings with it an added responsibility in the designing that should live up to the ambitions and technological aspirations of the country. The aim is therefore to create a landmark in Baku that will set a standard.
