View Full Version : Crazy commieblock now building in Singapore!
RafflesCity October 26th, 2004, 02:39 AM Singapore is a hotbed for dense commieblock living and the styles have gradually evolved since the 60s and also got taller.
Latest mutant is this 50-storey block of 7 joined by communal gardens and skybridges.
Fancy a jog on the roof?

MIMICA October 26th, 2004, 02:58 AM EWWWW! I really don't think that should be built and if it is: I am very sorry to all that have to suffer! :)
sOmeOne October 27th, 2004, 12:51 AM I love it! :D
FutureLOTpilot November 6th, 2004, 11:04 PM I love it! :D
ME TOO!
redstone November 7th, 2004, 03:53 AM Should create one 'apartment fan club' forum in the world section. Or perhaps move this one there? :D
RafflesCity November 17th, 2004, 12:44 AM i could copy this there but we have a thread on this in the world projects already :)
martm November 24th, 2004, 10:28 PM I'd love to bulit them in my city :D
Thunderflip December 28th, 2004, 10:43 PM I think one is enough but not that much all together.
Phallic January 2nd, 2005, 08:20 AM This is exactly what i have in my head! :eek2: Only that mine is on a grander (read: impossible) scale
Nightsky January 3rd, 2005, 08:33 AM The gardens look very nice, but the facades are horrible!

AnnubiX April 27th, 2005, 04:05 PM hahahaha it would be great to have some commieblocks like this in Mallorca, instead of urbanizing the whole island :D
I'd REALLY love to have it in the Arenal, as an hotel :)
Victoria October 16th, 2005, 06:02 AM Wow, that's huge.
chrishung October 16th, 2005, 06:06 AM Are those little square boxes air conditioning units? I hope not. I just don't like them sticking out of buildings like that.
Its interesting to see how they connect all those blocks together. Looks like some kind of fence.
El_Greco October 28th, 2005, 02:22 AM Nice.I mean really nice.I would like to live in one of these.
XADE November 27th, 2005, 07:42 PM I love them, i think theyre quite good. Yeah, its true that the facades have a lot of "boxes" and stuff, but i would be a solution for the problem of indiduals air conditioned on the facades, thats horrible i think.
redstone November 23rd, 2006, 04:53 PM It's rising....

Rebasepoiss November 23rd, 2007, 09:53 PM Cool! :) All big apartment houses should have some public facilities like gardens, children playgrounds etc.
arxeos November 25th, 2007, 03:54 AM they should put something blue on the top of the buildings like it looks now with the net where they are working it would look awesome
lucianmx_2007 January 5th, 2008, 05:31 PM o my lord.......those commies are grate...maybe the will built minimodel in bucharest!! ithink ythey should add a spire!

Depotmaster April 5th, 2008, 06:58 PM Wow, great, I love the trees on it. The Russians could learn something from them when it comes to commieblocks... :)
Aokromes April 5th, 2008, 07:29 PM You mean something like 3*45 Stages:
Несколько фотографий из внутреннего двора.
Отсюда эта стенка ещё больше поражает своими размерами, и смотрится гораздо лучше.

Depotmaster April 8th, 2008, 11:13 PM Oh no, these Russian towers look so crappy... Crazy that this style is still being built. Perhaps there is a lack of good architects over there. Or the demand is so big that they don't need good architecture. I don't know. BTW, this thread is about the block in Singapore...
Stefan1 April 12th, 2008, 11:46 PM wow... beautiful Russian residential towers
Iluminat April 13th, 2008, 12:50 AM better then russian everage...
goschio April 13th, 2008, 05:31 AM Errh, thats ugly! Looks really cheap and so yesterday. Hello, its the 21th century.
0/10
Depotmaster April 18th, 2008, 04:09 PM Well that's what we call "relativity" I guess.
echo April 27th, 2008, 10:36 PM WOW, these were amazing pictures!! Such a large walls of new commieblocks, among old ones. That's really sweet. These pics reminded me again that I have to visit Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev just for the amazing blocks there are...
OMH May 31st, 2008, 05:04 AM Wow! i'm stunned...both the Singapore and Moscow blocks really look impressive ..i think its a good think that they still build commieblocks in Russia, its certainly better than suburban sprawl..,unfortunately they don't built them anymore in Western Europe or North America, i really think high-rise commieblocks should be built again..IMO huge , wide commies like this look much more impressive than just plain residential condominium towers like they build nowadays in toronto and other North American and Western european cities.... i really must visit Moscow someday, just looks fantastic (the Singapore commieblock looks very stunning...probably one of the most impressive commies i've seen thus far.
Rebasepoiss November 8th, 2008, 02:56 PM Any updates on this?
kikita November 13th, 2008, 09:57 PM The gardens look very nice, but the facades are horrible!
I really liked the facades. They look like some kind of a wacky circuit board.
Would love updates, too.
With pictures!
