Hello everybody,

I am in my second year at a business school in the Netherlands and I am looking for an internship in Asia. I figured it would be a good idea to ask you for suggestions where to look. Do you have any tips that could help me find an internship or do you know (or work for) a company that could use an intern?

I prefer a country / city where some English or Spanish is spoken. I was thinking of Manila, Singapore or Hong Kong, but other suggestions are welcome!

Here is some information about myself and the purpose of the internship:

I am 20 years old and I am in my second year of IBMS (International Business and Management Studies – when finished, it will equal a bachelor degree). As an intern, I am supposed to work in the area of marketing, finance or human resource management. I prefer marketing and human resource management. The internship has to take place in the months of September 2005 - February 2006 and my school has to approve the work that I have to do in order to ensure that I will actually learn from it.
My English is fluent, but my Spanish is still very basic (this should improve in the coming year). Also, my knowledge of computer software (Excel, Access, SPSS and Word) is at an advanced level.

If anybody has any suggestions or knows a company that could use someone like me, please let me know!

Thank you.

PS: I posted this topic in other local forums too, because I couldn't find a relevant central forum. I hope that that's o.k.

Your best bet is Singapore or Hong Kong. Both these countries use English as their business language & they're both quite int'l.

Why would you need Spanish?

Seoul's probably not the best place. It's tough for foreigners to get a non-English teacher job there, for various reasons. It's something that I am not very happy with the government about.

Try HK or Singapore. You might even try Shanghai - it seems to have a bigger and bigger international presence every year.

Thank you all for the suggestions! A fellow student of mine is from Shanghai, maybe he could give me some information about companies there. To simo: It's not that I am that eager to learn Spanish, It's just that I would really like to be able to talk to people outside the company too. So if there's an Asian country where they speak Spanish (I thought they did in the Philipines) it would be o.k. too, instead of English.
