The bridge construction is part of the a major project aiming to a radical renewal of the whole area: this includes the former Italgas Gasometers on the Ostiense, as today on the way to a complete decay, and on the right bank the City of Taste built an managed by Gambero Rosso corporation, and India threatre, plus further minor facilities. Moreover the bridge will be part of Rome's bikeways network extent.

From a structural point of view the bridge features three distinctive elements: on the right bank a long Corten steel crutch lay on a concrete base spanning for about fifty meters. On the opposite side a sort of reversed foot, made of concrete, spans for thirty meters. Those two elements will be matched by a prestressed concrete joists.

Unfortunately after this update works stopped for about six months. As a matter of fact the main contractor withdrew arguing they were unable to complete the works due to their complexity.

In september Rome municipality decided to re-award the works to MAEG Costruzioni SpA, the same constructor of another bridge built in the latter years: the Bridge of Music.
