2012 redesign. Original design below:
-----------------------------------------------------
New project by wallman architects and tridel developments!
Ten York will be Toronto's second tallest condo, unless you count Trump and its cheating spire! :ohno:

note: to avoid confusion, there will be fins on the building, contrary to the final posted render.
in the classic lake view, this will appear to be Toronto's tallest building.

Imagine people's surprise when they find out it's only 5th tallest despite looking tallest.
Innsertnamehere November 23rd, 2011, 05:14 AM article:
TORONTO - City-owned development agency Build Toronto announced Tuesday its first partnership will be with widely known developer Tridel, which will collaborate on a 75-storey, $295-million residential building in the downtown area.

Dimethyltryptamine November 23rd, 2011, 07:01 AM I like it, especially the boxes of light. It'll look good on the skyline and is something different. Plus it looks quite thin so it will look extra tall :)
thryve November 23rd, 2011, 06:15 PM The title should be changed... the project is officially named "Ten York", not "10 York Street".
Skyscrapercitizen November 23rd, 2011, 10:37 PM  So slender, just another marvelous project for Toronto...
MegaCity416 November 24th, 2011, 12:10 AM Good height! Interesting that this will appear to be the tallest building from the lake skyline view. Any renderings from that POV?
Mercenary November 24th, 2011, 12:46 AM Toronto will have the 3rd best skyline in North America after New York City and Chicago :)
And by 2020, we will probably top Chicago too :)
isaidso November 24th, 2011, 06:46 AM ^^ I'd say it already is by quite a wide margin.
Good height! Interesting that this will appear to be the tallest building from the lake skyline view. Any renderings from that POV?

It really exemplifies how far from the lake the CBD is. First Canadian Place is 50 m taller than this proposal, but it's many blocks north of the waterfront. Once the waterfront fills out, that traditional image of Toronto will likely disappear forever. I just hope these new towers are as good or better than the ones they'll obscure from view.
SWFC fan December 12th, 2011, 10:39 PM Quite a good design. It reminds me of the Toren, except like 4X bigger.
isaidso January 26th, 2012, 01:59 PM Another site has this at 253 m. Which is correct?

248.7 m ≈ 249 m
Innsertnamehere January 29th, 2012, 01:14 AM rumor has it that 253m will be with the mechanical penthouse / fins. no idea where this number came from though.
heres some views originally posted by Tridelwebmaster on Urban Toronto (http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/showthread.php/8136-Ten-York-(-120-130-Harbour-Tridel-75s-Wallman)/page10);

dnh310 January 29th, 2012, 05:51 AM Important height, nice design.
isaidso February 6th, 2012, 12:44 AM When will they start digging?
MattToronto February 6th, 2012, 07:21 PM Still waiting on final approval.
tim1807 February 9th, 2012, 09:44 PM I hope it's soon.
Innsertnamehere February 13th, 2012, 05:00 AM i heard sales start in march. i expect a very quick sell out, so i predict construction starting early summer.
Innsertnamehere April 10th, 2012, 03:52 AM This has been increased to 253m, and with a small design change. can a mod change that, as well as changing the title to "Ten York"

kingsc April 10th, 2012, 09:21 PM I like it better with the little spires at the top
MattToronto April 10th, 2012, 10:11 PM They weren't actually spires, rather ribbings from the fins on top. The render was very misleading.
Travis007 April 20th, 2012, 12:30 AM Potential new rendering for Ten York.

tim1807 April 21st, 2012, 02:39 PM ^^ :ohno: I prefer the old design.

isaidso April 22nd, 2012, 09:29 AM Most people on the Toronto forums agree with you. They keep altering the design so who knows what they'll end up with.
Innsertnamehere July 9th, 2012, 04:00 PM they are completely redesigning this tower, and all we have so far is this floorplan, and a description of the building posted by deranged on Urban Toronto (http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/showthread.php/8136-Ten-York-(-120-130-Harbour-Tridel-75s-Wallman)/page30):
http://s12.postimage.org/xkaqu5cp7/tridel.jpg
Went in with a person who works for Tridel and saw the floor plans of the re-design work in progress. It's indeed going to be like the marilyn Monroe building where the base is wide, narrows in the middle, and is wider on the top again. Instead it will not be circular, but a rectangle with a thin side and a fat side.
Project will be finalized and VIP sales will be in September after E Condo sales wrap up.
As per above, the main building is no longer a square, it will be a similar shape as the triangular base.
10 units per floor. 8 elevators in total - 4 high rise, 4 low rise.
The largest unit "protrudes out of the building and will have a view of south west and north. It's 900 sw ft.
The smallest unit is a bachelor unit at 488 sq ft.
Each floor will have 5 x 1bdrm units, 1 bachelor, 2 x 3bdrm, 1 x 1+den, and the 2+ den large "protruding" unit on the west side.
Tridel is emphasizing this will be one of the iconic buildings of the Toronto skyline. I'm so exited for it.
Eric Offereins July 9th, 2012, 08:41 PM ^^ :ohno: I prefer the old design.
So do I, but it is still a cool design.
Innsertnamehere July 9th, 2012, 10:12 PM but even it isn't the final design.. lol.
gugi182 July 9th, 2012, 11:09 PM It a great design applause for Toronto

Marcanadian September 9th, 2012, 06:55 AM Can't really tell much from that rendering, but it looks promising.
OldBoy137 September 9th, 2012, 03:16 PM New rendering looks good.
KamT September 9th, 2012, 04:01 PM Wow! The new rendering is nice! Something new for Toronto. :D
Btw, why is this thread only 2 pages? It's one of the most important buildings in Toronto, I would expect more people talking about it. Guess not.
Innsertnamehere October 13th, 2012, 07:01 PM This one is now 224m and 65 floors, but here are some new renderings:

isaidso October 13th, 2012, 07:05 PM It was so much nicer before. I suppose these NIMBY's think their views are now preserved with a 10 floor reduction? This has accomplished nothing besides an inferior building.
xfogus October 13th, 2012, 07:33 PM Looks great, really adds to the skyline. I wonder how loud it gets if you open a window or go out on a balcony.
cruzin4u October 13th, 2012, 09:02 PM To me, it looks like a monolithic slab - much like Chicago Trump (which isn't a bad thing).
I don't have any hope in Tridel really. There may be some curtainwall, but at this time it just looks bland for some reason. I can't put my eyes around it.
in'sauga October 13th, 2012, 10:06 PM such a boring design. The original render was a million times better :ohno:
Epi October 13th, 2012, 10:14 PM It was so much nicer before. I suppose these NIMBY's think their views are now preserved with a 10 floor reduction? This has accomplished nothing besides an inferior building.
With the way buildings in Toronto work, they will probably just announce a 'surprise' addition of 10-15 floors when they're midway done as long as they think they can sell more units. They probably voluntarily reduced the height as they see the market winds changing and to temporarily quell the NIMBY protest so that they can strike later.
isaidso October 14th, 2012, 12:04 AM Perhaps, but its the design I'm disappointed with. This was a proposal that went back to the drawing board because the city wanted something special built here, but what we got is nothing ground breaking or remotely better than what's down the street.
kalabaw October 14th, 2012, 12:16 AM new rendering:

It looks like an axe!
desertpunk October 14th, 2012, 02:59 PM I really like both designs. After building this wedge, maybe the developer can find another spot and put up the original tower too. :P
cruzin4u November 16th, 2012, 08:04 PM This project is 88% sold!
"anyone pondering the current state of Toronto’s condo market may want to take note of the rip-roaring success of Tridel’s recently launched ten york project.
The 65-storey glass tower — which will rise from a wedge-shaped site at york and harbour sts. — has been regarded as a bellwether, a development whose sales performance this fall would offer an indication of the health of a condo market that some analysts believe has become oversupplied.
Of the 600 units at Ten York released to date, 532 had been sold as of early November. If the Toronto condo market is cooling, “you sure as heck wouldn’t have known that from what was happening at our sales office,” notes Jim Ritchie, Tridel’s senior vice president of sales and marketing."
http://www.thestar.com/living/realestate/condos/article/1288463--looking-up
Some other tidbits:
"glass-enclosed lobby with 30-foot-high ceilings."
"the north and south facades will be glass curtain walls."
" Here it’s going to be very sleek and finished looking; more like a commercial building."
Eric Offereins November 16th, 2012, 09:37 PM ^^ And still no construction? Amazing.
ThatOneGuy November 18th, 2012, 03:19 PM This building has a FAR better design than any of the glass condos built recently in Toronto. Too late to change those ones already built, though.
Still can't beat FCP, though.
Innsertnamehere November 18th, 2012, 08:36 PM ^^ And still no construction? Amazing.
this went to sales a week ago. I don't expect construction until spring.
Expect the next major building to begin in Toronto to be the Massey tower, at 205m.

I'd put Ten York in the top quintile with the latest crop being substantially better than the ones built at the beginning of the cycle.
Innsertnamehere December 9th, 2012, 09:01 PM word is that this has already sold over 80% of the units, meaning that it has a high chance of happening.
Taller, Better December 9th, 2012, 09:15 PM ^^ And still no construction? Amazing.
This proposal is less than a year old at this point. There are many, many steps to complete from the original concept to the point of construction.
isaidso December 15th, 2012, 04:24 PM This one is growing on me.
