The downtown campus contains over 160 buildings that contain about 14 million square feet. The 176 year old institution has a wonderful collection of buildings, both old and new, as well as some very beautiful spaces on it's campus. All this right in downtown for everyone to enjoy.

Many of the buildings are actually former mansions (must be at least 50 ), as this area was, along with jarvis St, the main area for Toronto's uber-rich before the days of Rosedale and Forest Hill.

Yes almost as nice as York :jk:

Obviously, the nicest university in Canada by far. Thanks for that compilation KGB.

the land belongs to victoria college, it was leased out for 30 years. victoria will get back the land and building after that.

Why not just look at the pretty pics, and keep the personal comments to yourself.....no wonder I'm ill-tempered.

"the land belongs to victoria college, it was leased out for 30 years. victoria will get back the land and building after that."

I don't know where you get that story...as far as I know, this theatre was built by the university with a $6 million gift from Alfred Bader, and another $2 million from UofT.

The Isabel Bader Theatre opened in March of 2001 and since then has been used for concerts, musicals, theatrical productions, and conferences. (it's not offices).

Ah...you are refering to the McKinsey building...basically across the street. Yes...I like that building very much...Taylor Hariri Pontarini built a little gem of stone, copper and teak. The Isabel Bader theatre is sorta in the same vein, so I can see where one might get confused.

Beautiful pics!

I got an eerie chill down my spine at the sight of that Munk Centre photo though. Evil has a home at U of T...

I don't think I've ever seen the fall depicted so beautifully in Toronto before with the colouful trees and leaves scattered on the ground. Great contrast between the beautiful structures in and around U of T within a natural setting.

Are these your pics? They all appear to have been taken the same day.

I didn't know the new Nikon 36.5 megapixel with 2700 MB compact flash memory was on the market already.

Why the hell didn't you post this in a "larger forum" as well? A terrific topic and a remarkable compilation (and framing/angles were noticed and enjoyed).

How about adding in "U of T" the developer (Foster et al), Trump can only dream about such city building".

Wow! KGB, amazing pics! You should seriously consider posting this in the international forums.

Great pics. I think October is my favourite month. Crisp cool weather (but not cold) and great colour. And I like the cloudiness...contrasts well with the colour of the leaves.

"Are these your pics?"

Yes

"They all appear to have been taken the same day."

They weren't even all taken in the same year. LOL (I thought the 175 year banners and later fall pics would have given this away). So...a couple of different days last fall...and a couple of different days this fall. Most taken in early evening and overcast days...so the lighting is generally the same.

"I didn't know the new Nikon 36.5 megapixel with 2700 MB compact flash memory was on the market already."

I don't know why you would say that...these are small size, low res pics taken in poor lighting (although I prefer low light). None of these are real keepers (or they wouldn't be here he he). For the record, I used a Dimage 7i, with a 512 meg flash card....more than enough for 800x600 low res jpegs. I don't think anybody would appreciate me posting full 14 meg per pic on the thread. LOL!!

"Why the hell didn't you post this in a "larger forum" as well? "

I did...it's on the "urban campus" thread.

"How about adding in "U of T" the developer (Foster et al), Trump can only dream about such city building".

There are a few more buildings u/c on the campus...I'll wait til they are completed and then maybe take some pics. As far as university campuses go, I think UofT has one of the largest and most comprehensive collection of buildings and architecture covering every era and style in the last 150 years.

beautiful !!

reminds me a little bit of Duke University in a more urban setting. and the modern constructions perfectly fit with the neo-gothic architecture.

Not at all. You may find him ill-tempered, I think he just finds some of the kiddies on these forums to be tiresome.
