Batang_genio November 27th, 2011, 10:49 AM Right across this building on Makati Ave corner Kalayaan, there is an abandoned construction site with massive rebars already sticking out from the ground. It has been like this for a few years. Does anyone know the story about this discontinued building. What was the intention and who owns this land?

I have a brochure or a clipping about it, hope I could find it and what I remember with the project is that it was projected to be tallest and if I remember it right it was the Eaton Makati project.
Batang_genio November 27th, 2011, 01:21 PM Thanks AYS. I found this link. The render looks amazing. Shame it was discontinued. Do you know why?

how many meters???
That should have been 250-+m and was envisioned to be the tallest luxurious hotel at 64 storeys. Grand Hyatt has 66 levels.

Eaton Square November 28th, 2011, 02:46 PM OT: knife ... 'looks like a knife ... pero ang ganda at may spire pa ... :okay:
it could have been one rare design of a building in the philippines. unfortunately . . .
thomasian November 28th, 2011, 03:28 PM This project is good on its own, but with The Gramercy Residences and the future Trump Tower Manila as its neighbor, it easily gets lost in the towering heights beside it.
@tita01 looks like a very, very promising forumer. I actually would have wanted him/her to take on the place I've vacated as a moderator. I think he/she has the makings of a moderator that specializes in proposed and under-construction skyscrapers. Given more time, I think he/she may perfectly fit the bill and will be up to the job, and hopefully will be posted on the spot he/she deserves, keep it up!
Okay, I know, the he/she gender uncertainty for @tita01 looks annoying, more so when repeated six times in just one short post like this one. It's quite confusing actually because of the avatar he/she is using right now, the LGBT flag. :D
I have a brochure or a clipping about it, hope I could find it and what I remember with the project is that it was projected to be tallest and if I remember it right it was the Eaton Makati project.
Yeah, "The Eaton Makati" or "Eaton Hotel Makati", too bad it had to end up like this. At least there is hope because there's the foundation and basement levels completed already. We only need someone who could buy what has been done of this structure and finish it, just like the Eton Tower Makati which will rise from the existing foundation, basement, and ground and second levels of the discontinued World Commerce Plaza. Same thing with the Alphaland Tower which will be built on the Westmont Bank Tower's completed foundation levels.

impossible ata yan bro.. nakalagay sa info 32 floor lang to... buildings in 40+ floors reaching 200+ meters... but with 32 is impossible...
with 280/32=8.75meters ung floor ceiling!! whoaa!!... wala nmn cigurong ceiling na ganitong kataas..
solving the average is 32meters times 4meters <-- average ceiling in the phils..
it is somehow around 130 meters.. di kolng maintindihan yung sa render bakit ganyang kataas... mathematicaly it is impossible..:)
tama c HANG_tod :)
Batang_genio December 6th, 2011, 12:40 PM This is not the Mercedes Building, but the discontinued Eaton Hotel. There are construction workers wandering around the site. Could this mean that the Eaton Hotel has been resurrected??? Someone please investigate.

mapuan_CE December 6th, 2011, 01:31 PM mercedes building is being constructed in front of that abandoned eaton project- DATEM is the general contractor or both buildings- few months ago i was assigned na mag asbuilt ng structure dunno kung itutuloy ni DATEM or magclaim lang
Batang_genio December 6th, 2011, 02:11 PM What do you mean by asbuilt? Is that conducting a review of all the work that the construction company has done so far on the discontinued site?
If that was done last month, what were these construction workers doing at the site? Maybe another construction company has taken over?
HANG_tod December 6th, 2011, 03:35 PM nireresume na ang eaton hotel, kaso not as supertall
leofriends December 6th, 2011, 04:12 PM @leofriends Eaton hotel ung tinutukoy ko
tama c HANG_tod :)
oh sorry.. i misinterpret the conversation...

how many meters???
This was the first render of the EATON before the developer changed it to a boxy one. And then eventually after years of delay it was discontinued.
nireresume na ang eaton hotel, kaso not as supertall
Are you serious Hang tod? Believe it or not my sister got a one bedroom condotel unit from EATON that was fully paid. Developer headed by Wilson Yap et al if I'm not mistaken. Wala raw siya balita dito. Somebody must resurrect the EATON thread. Sorry OT.
Batang_genio December 7th, 2011, 11:15 AM I've definitely seen trucks delivering construction materials to the Eaton Hotel site. Construction workers inside the premises too.
Please resurrect The Eaton thread. There's finally some activity going on inside this abandoned site after 8 years of inactivity.
tita01 December 7th, 2011, 12:25 PM buhayin na natin ung eaton tower thread kasing taas ata ito ng pbcom
sana sumunod na ung skycity
The Eaton of Makati will have separate grand lobbies for the hotel and for the residential suites with 15 highspeed elevators. Floor to ceiling height of 2.9 meters, higher than the usual 2.4 meters in most buildings, gives an air of opulence and space. Floor to ceiling curtains will also enhance the view of the Makati skyline for the appreciation of occupants.
The superstructure will install a jointless piping system from Germany that can withstand the maximum pressure of 1,200 psi (pounds per square inch). Since there are no joints, there will be no leaks. On the 7th basement level will contain a sewerage system technology from Denmark capable of recycling water. Although purified, the recycled water will be used only for water closets. Crown Jewel Philippines Holdings Corporation, the developer of The Eaton Makati, has allocated huge amount of its budget to acquire the system due to its cost-effectiveness and in preparation for unforeseen water disturbances in the future. There are three large water tanks in the building — one on the 7th basement level, another on the 26th floor and the other on 62nd floor. Six parking levels have been allotted — three for the Holiday Inn and another three levels for residential suites.
The country’s tallest structure is guaranteed earthquake-resistant with the concrete mix of 14,000 psi. The high concrete mix eliminates bulky and obstructive columns. With such strength, The Eaton Makati will be the country’s strongest structure. Most buildings have concrete strengths of 5,000 to 10,000 psi. Even the world’s tallest building, the Petronas of Malaysia, has a reported strength of only12,000 psi and is already quake resistant.

I hope the gray color is the final color of the façade and not just an undercoat for the pink color seen in the rendering.
