Sathurday, last day in Vilnius...

I went to old town of Vilnius to take some shots (damn, camera's battery was almost empty)

I think this was the best part of all :okay:

When I see the old town I realize that all the skyscrapers and all new modern developments are nothing compared with it.

Here is something radically new. I know this place quite well, and now Europa tower is in the back of picture very strictly. When I look to the picture I have mixed feelings about it. But how it looks in nature?

THE END. Hope, it was interesting... ;)

Holy Vilnius ;)

PS. Thank you!

Thanx for all 4 threads!!!

I like this perspective very much, never seen it before. A perfect mix of old and new :)

But this one is a little bit controversial (as Zigurds noticed above). What do people in Vilnius think about it?

Is it a TABU in Vilnius to talk about this picture? :D

It seems to be a tabu among skyscraperfans :D
There were a few negative opinions about "bad" views from the inside of the old town (like you see in this picture) but generelly there is more concern about the contrast of old and new vertical accents in the skyline i.e. church spires vs. new highrises which really contrast badly looking from some points.

Great pics of a beautiful city, perhaps the most underrated capital of Europe.

I quite like the contrasts between the old buildings and the new devopments BTW!

So you dared to answer my question :D Thanx ;)
The "church spires vs. new highrises" skyline pics I've seen so far from Vilnius were cool, IMO. The picture above disturbs me more. I don't like when the atmosphere of historical urban spaces (like old town squares etc.) is "spoiled" by some unplanned and unwanted elements. But its hard to judge just from some pictures how "serious" it is. Maybe it's something people don't notice in reality.

I'm crushed, ex. SDmaster!

It's so hard to keep up with everything on this site ... I missed your photos! :wallbash:

Having visited Vilnius last summer, though, I think I know what the conversation is about, though. ;) And so of course I have a reaction. I know that Vilnius is rightly proud of its many church towers and spiresthat define its skyline. They are a glorious and wondrous sight indeed! :) Yet I feel that, due to the fact that the tall, modern section of Vilnius is located at a certain distance from the heart of Churchland, the contrast is tolerable. :okay:
