Dr. Julius Drilon, chief of hospital of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, yesterday said they will start the construction of a 6-storey multi-specialty building at the CLMMRH compound in Bacolod City that he hopes will be finished before the end of this year.

The Department of Health has allocated a budget of about P100 million for the construction of the first phase of the new structure only, he said.

If their plans push through, they may be able to increase their bed capacity from 400 to about 600 beds, Drilon said.

Drilon said the multi-specialty building will be equipped with modern imaging systems, CT Scan, and almost all the radiologic equipment will be new.

He also said it will have an operating room and about 130 beds.

DOH has also allocated funds for the renovation of the Mother and Child Building and this will increase its capacity to 200 beds, including 12 for the Intensive Care Unit.

He said they are also constructing an emergency room at Burgos Street which they hope to inaugurate in six months. A new laboratory was inaugurated last Dec. 15, 2011, he added.

CLMMRH gets P30M CT scan

A P30 million state-of-the-art CT Scan machine was inaugurated by the officials of the Department of Health at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City yesterday.

Drilon said that, once their Radiologic Sciences building on the second floor of the West Tower is finished, that will probably be one of the best in Radiologic Sciences in the whole Island of Negros. It will be very modern since it will be fully computerized, he said.

All other machines that will be included in the preparation of the site will cost about of P74 million, excluding the CT Scan, Drilon said.

The tower will have one of the most modern radiologic sciences imaging system in Negros and the whole of Western Visayas, two operating room suites, surgical intensive care, dialysis and pulmonary units, heart stations, and a capacity for 148 beds

A second tower will also be built at the CLMMRH that will have a 250 to 300-bed capacity, to include private, semi private and charity wards, he said. It will cost about P200 million.

Ona, who was in Bacolod last Friday, said the plan for CLMMRH is to become “an honest to goodness modern up-to-date medical center” with an increased bed capacity of 600 to 650, from the present 400.

The cost of the modernization could be P3 to 3.5 billion, he said.

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the provincial government will then turn over its 6,000-square meter property next to the CLMMRH for the expansion and modernization project of the DOH.

We are in the process of totally re-writing and rehabilitating the CLMMRH, which is one of the premier regional hospitals in the country, Drilon said.

The first is the West Tower, which has a loan grant entered by the government since 2008. This will have at least 168 beds and will house a dialysis unit, operating room, one of the most modern diagnostic clinics in the whole of Negros or probably in Western Visayas, and other specialized health care unit. It will be operated before the end of the year and has a budget cost of PP240 million.

The Mother and Child building is also being rehabilitated with a budget cost of P88 million and will house 200 beds. It will have a general ward and will house the clinics, and they will also rehabilitate the out-patient section below and together with the development it will become a modern facility. They hope to operate it by the next quarter of next year.

Facing Burgos Street, a new Emergency Room Complex will soon be open.
The last of the program is the 5-storey East Tower and its construction has already started. It will accommodate about 300 beds. It is located in front of the West Tower and beside the Heritage Building.
He said they will venture on kidney transplant when the East Tower opens.
