SeeMacau December 8th, 2011, 04:02 PM No need to delete, those countries are part of ASEAN, let it sink if no one update.

There's something going on make Seoul stop building taller buildings, they turn into investment on Hanoi.
While the tallest building in Seoul stop at 63 floors, Korean built Hanoi Keanam Landmark with 70 floors and plan to build Lotte Tower with 260 meters high.

ukiyo December 20th, 2011, 03:58 AM ^^ I have been to Seoul 2 times..and honestly I don't think the street level compares to Tokyo yet (maybe Osaka). The thing that sets Seoul apart from Tokyo will be in skyscrapers. Seoul will by far have a much better skyline than Tokyo in the very near future. The tallest building in Tokyo (not counting towers like Sky Tree) will only be 256m while Seoul has several 300m + U/C right now including the Lotte World Tower at 555m: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=474259

I think Seoul is a little bit overrated. You surely will agree when you go there. I thought the same as you before, but it turned out to be different from my former imagination. Incheon has very good infrastructure (and the airport was very modern), but Seoul was somewhat bad organised with boring architecture and not clean-like-Singapore. Don't get me wrong Seoul is still a nice city to me, since I made unforgetable experiences there. That's also one major aspect to me to like a city.
going-higher December 20th, 2011, 10:43 PM NK and tq, both of you are right and have a good point. I never been to Seoul so i can't make a comparison between both cities. by watching a lot of videos of Tokyo I think Tokyo street life is still the best.

mrfusion June 4th, 2012, 09:58 AM Koreans aim for medical tourists from Kingdom
The 24,000 Cambodians who visited South Korea during 2011 included about 100 people going for medical services, most of them high-ranking Cambodian government officials, according to Charm Lee, President of the Korea Tourism Organization.
At a Korean Medical Tourism conference on Saturday at Sofitel in Phnom Penh, the virtues of medical treatment in Korea were explained by Lee and representatives from seven Korean hospitals.
“The reason we come to Cambodia was to seek out the Cambodian market,” he said through an interpreter. “We came to Cambodia because we think that market is good and that Cambodian tourists are interested in Korea.”
Lee noted that in addition to medical services, Korean movies and hip-hop songs were popular in Cambodia.
Lee said medical care in Korea was less expensive than that in Singapore but more expensive than in Thailand.
Son Insuk, Director of Yeongcheon Son Hospital in Busan (formerly known as Pusan) said since many Cambodians had sought treatment at his hospital, he intended to open a clinic in Cambodia in the near future and was seeking the co-operation of a Cambodian doctor for the venture.
Ang Kim Eang, President of the Cambdian Association of Travel Agents, said increasing numbers of Cambodian people were starting to be able to afford medical treatment in Korea.
“People who have new cars should be able to afford medical treatment in Korea,” he said.
“Medical services in Korea are lower in cost than in the USA and Japan,” he said.
Cambodian Minister of Health Mam Bunheng said he did not have statistics on the number of Cambodian people who travel abroad to get medical services, because he was busy with yesterday’s elections.

How does the government know if any individual visit Korea for travel or medical reason? Do the locals reported to someone?

The market is good because Cambodia does not have a decent level of medical expertise and facilities, but I seriously doubt if you will find room here because there are good medical facilites nearby in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, HK, China, all within 2 about hours flight.
Lee noted that in addition to medical services, Korean movies and hip-hop songs were popular in Cambodia.
Totally irrelevant/
Lee said medical care in Korea was less expensive than that in Singapore but more expensive than in Thailand.
This is enough reason why Korea is unlikely to be a option, another reason, I believe, there ain't many Korean speaking locals, we have plenty of Mandarin, TeoChiew, English, Vietname, Thai speaking locals that will find these neighbouring countries an attractive place to use. But not Korea.
Ang Kim Eang, President of the Cambdian Association of Travel Agents, said increasing numbers of Cambodian people were starting to be able to afford medical treatment in Korea.

Not sure if Cambodians are required to have visas first before arriving in Korea. If they do, it is not hard to know the reasons they want to visit Korea. On their visa applications, poeple may just say they go there for medical reasons and so they may have a better chance of getting the visa (and maybe faster too).
For rich people, they don't shop the same place all the time. If they have a chance to visit new places like Korea, and love it, they may want to have medical check up as well each time they visit the country. I am sure there are Cambodians who want plastic surgery make-over and would consider Korea over other places near by.

Yeah, it must be visa, Cambodia need visa everywhere except the few neighbouring countries.
For rich people, they don't shop the same place all the time. If they have a chance to visit new places like Korea, and love it, they may want to have medical check up as well each time they visit the country. Another strange mentality of rich people, you are suppose to go to the same doctor everytime if you think one doctor is good, going to different doctor in different countries which treat you differently is not usually a good idea.
I am sure there are Cambodians who want plastic surgery make-over and would consider Korea over other places near by. Yeah, Plastic Surgery could be a reason, must be embrassing to say getting a breast implant on a visa application form.
LamDai June 5th, 2012, 06:49 AM Yeah, Plastic Surgery could be a reason, must be embrassing to say getting a breast implant on a visa application form.
Maybe people don't think that way. They go for boob-jobs because they have money and they are proud to be rich people.
I see many Korean women who don't seem to be embarrassed of their plastic transformation. In contrast, they feel luckier than those who don't have enough money for plastic surgery.
I actually don't like the way Korea possesses Vietnam. Now I see Korean goods everywhere in the supermarket and Korean music drives me crazy.

Korean has a different culture, and probably have a plastic surgery culture (if I can use such a name), Cambodian is probably still a bit more conservative.
SeeMacau June 5th, 2012, 05:11 PM I have a lot of local friends traveling, or studying in Korea (getting scholarship) recently :)
mrfusion June 5th, 2012, 06:00 PM my door guard is learning Korean, he said he is hoping to get a job in Korea.
manies_flip June 21st, 2012, 03:51 AM I think Seoul is a little bit overrated. That's also one major aspect to me to like a city.
puh-leaze~ Singapore is like one of the cleanest city in the world. I don't think Singapore should be compared to Seoul
Fulltimer June 21st, 2012, 07:56 PM I don't know about 24,000 cambodians traveling abroad! That seems too much! I don't mean to generalize but many Cambodians don't like traveling abroad especially to other Asian countries.

How do you know that Cambodians don't like to travel abroad, let alone to Asian countries? Are you just making it up or is it that you are not happy to see more and more Cambodians can afford to travel abroad like everyone else, specially your Chinese?

What do you mean, most Cambodian traveled to neighboring Asian countries. Mainly because it is cheaper. Europe and America is just too far and too much.
There are flights from PP to ICN everyday on a 737 (147 economy seat), I used it once, and the plane seems to be full both way.
An average of 65 Khmer passenger everyday certainly seems possible. (and that is only counting PPIA).

Europe and America are not only too far and too much (cost), but are where it is very hard for most Cambodians to get visas to go there.
