Now we have reached our goal; the brand new opera house that I heard about.
I like the futuristic design very much! It was the first time I saw it. This is the view from Amalienborg Castle.
http://skyline.250free.com/Cphopera.jpg
The opera was built as late as October 2004, just a few days before we was there. What a coincidence!
The tall orange/blue coloured crane is part of a boat that helped build Malmö’s new university bridge.

Amalienborg. This is the most famous royal castle of Denmark. The architect Niels Eigtved was influenced by the rococo style. Amalienborg was built by Frederik V to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the House of Oldenburg. Amalienborg consists of four palaces built around a circular square, trafficated by guards.

The classic domed marble church, or Frederiks Kirke as it’s actually called. It is connected to Amalienborg.
Now we head towards downtown.
http://skyline.250free.com/Nyhavn.jpg
Nyhavn. Very popular and famous entertainment district with many pubs in the old harbour.
http://skyline.250free.com/Nyhavn2.jpg
Nyhavn actually means “new harbour” in English despite it is the old harbour!
It is close to Kongens Nytorv and downtown.
http://skyline.250free.com/Christiansborg_Borsen.jpg
Christiansborg and the bourse house.

A wider pano even includes the ugly modern Riksbanken and St. Nikolajs Kirke.

This ad at Radhuspladsen gives a somewhat surrealistic feeling.
The End.
