can anyone please explain what the heck is the miami intermodal center is and what is it going to accomplish,and when are they finally going to expand the metrorail and start baylink

baylink, metro rail, and the mic are all part of the counties big plan to expand the counties transportation infrastructue over the next 2 or 3 decades, so theyre all tied into one another, and we no how efficient dade county is with big projects... baylink im kinda worried about, though i think it will get approved cause people realize how useful this really will be and how badly we need it, the metro rail project, just through shear size, i wont be seeing till im gettin into middle age, by my guess, and we can only imagine wat miamill b like then. mic is already underconstruction, or at least part of it... well, heres some stuff i found... ill get some more as soon as i can

the numerous segments are supposed to b completed at different times, ranging across 20 years, and thats if theyre on schedule (and when was the last time THAT hapnd in dade county)

North Corridor- 2012
Earlington Heights-MIC Connection- 2012
Bay Link- 2023
East-West Multimodal Corridor- 2013 and 2017 (two segements)
Kendall Corridor- 2017
North-East Corridor- 2033
South Miami-Dade Corridor- 2033
Douglas Corridor- 2033

the mic i pretty much just a hub for transportation throughout the county and the airport... all transportation related issues for the airport will be handled here and there will be a people mover system (think metro mover) from there to the airport... i remember goin to the site on it b4, itll take me a while to find it, will get more info on it soon

OK UPTOWN-MIDTOWN :) , Here we go, FIRST go to www.micdot.com This will explain the Miami Intermodal Center at the east side of the Airport at N.W. 21st St.
Its a 3 BILLION Florida Department of Transportation PROJECT to be Completed in 2010, First Phase is a 20,000 CAR RENTAL Garage with a People Mover system connected to the Airport Terminal which will go over LeJuene Rd to the Center, ALL Rental Car agency's will work out of this Huge 4 story Garage. The 2nd Phase is a Huge RETAIL Shops Area connected to the East side of the Huge Rental Garage. NOW the Most Important Part, Which has the Miami-Dade Promise, METRORAIL will be added to the MIC from the Original path along 27th Ave and the 112 Expressway, ALSO the Future LeJuene Road Expressway will connect into the Rental Center Garage in 2010 when the WHOLE Project is completed. F.D.O.T. is buying Land all around Lejuene Rd for this Expressway Project which will CONNECT 112 EXPRESSWAY with the 836 EXPRESSWAY.
Anyone can see There's a START to This amazing Future Expresssway by going to the Area of N.W. 14th Street and LeJuene Road To see the Major Construction of the First two Bridges with an EXIT Road to be Connected with the 836 Expressway in 4 years. What I mean is the Bridges will be finished soon , but no one will be able to drive on them because the road will have a TEMPORARY Dead End.

TRUE NIMBY :) , I'm confused about it too, But the Expressway Part is under construction Now Along LeJuene RD and the 836 Expressway with new Bridges being built TO NOWHERE right Now , Each End is really a Temporary Dead end, YOU really have to drive out ther and see it for yourself NIMBY, its Mind Bogleling, But its Started. :cheers:

What would be great would be if they would also connect the 112 (airport expressway) to the palmetto on the north side of the airport somehow.

whoa this sounds great but why did we wait so long to do all of this,by the time these things are done i'll be like 40-50 and why is it going to take so long.also i believe that the one passing through the pac, d.district,and aventura should be done before 2033 by then there should be different forms of transportation than rail,and also baylink is going to take to long too

bad transportation is going to end up killing miami dade county

lol, jp, well, were tryin, thats wat counts, better than the 80s and 90s when they didnt do anything, at least were tryin now, tho its dade county, this will take decades to complete, and by then well need one thats twice as big, so all over again, w/e, well survive, i personally am calling alot more baylink/ miami streetcar type projects
