Here's a poll for Rochester, USA, in Minnesota, not New York.
The city in Minnesota is much smaller than the one in New York, and is home to the Mayo Clinic. It is the 4th largest city in Minnesota, behind Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Duluth.

Population: 85,806 as of the 2000 Census
Metro Population: Maybe 120,000

I believe someone told me once that the curved glass building in the Mayo complex was built with expansion in mind, and that they might one day add another 10 stories to it. Sorry I couldn't find a good, overarching skyline pic anywhere.

Wow great pics! I didn't even know that town had a skyline, though I have heard of it lol. I give it an 8...it looks nice. It looks cool on the water.

Big skyline indeed !!

Gave it a 6.5 for a commendable effort. Meanwhile, why in the world does it get such an usually high proportion of 3 and below voters?

Very nice for a city of its size.

One of the things that helps me determine what score the city is going to get, that is if the skyline fits the population. For this city, it no doubt fills the role of having a skyline 10 times the size that it should be. Therefore, I'll give it a 10. :)

Don't you know? There are like a group of 20 ass-holes that really are just to ruin the scores of these fine cities, and the people that have done that in this thread are just childish. I suppose they get jelous...Have you seen the poll on Hong Kong? HK is no doubt the best skyline in the world, yet there are like 200 people that rated it 3 or below...What can I say? They are just being childish and jelious...

Hmmm, that's very strange indeed. Last time I checked, no one had really paid any attention to this thread in a long time. There might have been 1 3 or less vote then. Seems like someone really, really hates Rochester.

I'm sorry, but when being realistic, people are just jelious, that or they just like ruining the scores of these cities...I personally think it's extremely stupid.

:D What can I say? I type pretty darn fast! ;)

Anyway's...The more I explore these thread about the skylines being rated, the more I get frusterated with people that vote 3.5 or lower! I guess we have to learn to just ignore them, and hopefully, they will realize there is no purpose in voting if no one cares...

Right. I was begining to wonder how can a relatively small city like this breed so much hatred!

For a city of its size, Rochester MN's got a good skyline! Lot of density and pretty good heightage. Never seen a city of 85,000 with a skyline like that. 7.5/10. Although may not be as good as its similar named brother in New York.

The city looks interesting but, looking the pics, it has a very monotonous skyline and some of the tall buildings aren't really beauty.

I give a 6,5 to Rochester.

I gave it a 10. Having grown up in Rochester for one, but for a realtively small population the city has a lot of tall buildings. It has a good art community. It has some of the lowest unemployment in the country - consistently. They recently completed an upgrade and expansion of the highway that runs along it's western fringes and it looks like it's finally going to get a 4 year university tied in with the University of MN.

A couple of facts about the city I was born in:

Rochester Metro area is the 9th wealthiest in the entire US, behind SF-Oakland-San Jose, DC-Baltimore, Anchorage, Mpls-St. Paul, Boston, Hartford, Atlanta, and Honolulu. This is mostly due to the large amount of wealthy physicians employed by the world famous Mayo system.

Regular patients of the Mayo Clinic include(d): JFK, Gerald Ford, Reagan, George Bush, King Hussein of Jordan, Sheik Zayed (leader of UAE), Bono, Eddie Van Halen, Lou Gehrig, George Harrison, Walter Payton, and many other big names.

The Mayo Clinic was featured in an episode of the Simpsons where Burns goes there to get treated.

It was listed as #1 Best Place to Live in America (Money Magazine) for 3 years, and was in the top 10 for 6 consecutive years.

The Mayo Medical system performed over 48,000 surgeries in 2005. That is more than one surgery for every two people in the city. (obviously most patients are from abroad).

Skyline gets 10/10. High quality new and old buildings. Looks like a skyline of some 500,000 pop. metros with a fifth of the size. What the fuck is with all the haters voting 3 or less?

8/10. Nice skyline for a small city. From a quick Googling I found some more images. I think that 1-2 taller buildings would boost the skyline significantly.

Here are some more pictures I found on Flickr. Some parts of downtown look like the belong to New York or Tokyo rather than a small Midwestern city. Hard to believe that Rochester is a city of just 80k!

I went to Rochester last fall for the first time, and was impressed with what I saw when first driving into town. I was not expecting any skyline at all considering the population. I had a friend staying at a hotel downtown as she was being treated at Mayo, and another friend of mine just moved there and is a pilot for Mayo's Medivac. I soon realized that downtown is almost exclusivly driven by Mayo and really nothing more, other than a few hotels to accompany the Mayo crowds. The nightlife downtown left a lot to be desired. Overall though, Rochester is a very nice place to visit and I look forward to going back.
