I hope they have an open day for the public when this building is closer to completion. However I'm dissapointed with the 'balcony' things that have been attached to the facade; I would have preffered a clean smooth glass facade.

I'm from Melbourne and we have something very similar here (Commonwealth Law Courts-Flagstaff), and I think its a great addition to your skyline. Its very Melbourne, something like this design quality would not be seen in Sydney or Brisbane, go Adelaide for daring to be different and uber-cool.

This is the reason why some people in Adelaide do not like it, it is apparently 'too modern' for Adelaide.

Think the main problem with this building is its out on its lonesome, if it had a few more scrapers next to it i dont think people would notice the colours etc that much.

From those angles it doesnt look too bad.

My apologies for dredging up an old thread but today the comonwealth law courts were officially opened by the pm and have been named after Dame Roma Mitchell a famous south auzzie.

Looks quite spiffy to me.

One of the ugliest buildings I've ever seen. Should take down all that small tacky multi-coloured glass rubbish and just have nice large clean stuff instead. That big green thing should also just be a mirror or something - it looks disgusting.

The building on corner of Bank St and North Tce is called ROMA MITCHELL HOUSE. And the arts centre on the corner of Currie St and Light Square is called Dame Roma Mitchell Arts Centre. :)

There's also a Mitchell Building in Adelaide Uni, not sure if it's the same person.

In today's 'Tiser there was a piece about the PM's opening of the courts, calling the building "beautiful." I'm sure in any of the other four cities, no one would raise and eyebrow at it

The law courts make an okay impact on our sktline but imo they are freakishly ugly.

I'd have to agree with you AtD. This building has alot of architectural merits, and for me personally a beautiful addition to the adelaide cbd. We need more of these bold designs not less.

^^ it does! in chicago i went into a lego land when everyone els went to the bathroom and they had a mini shicago built out of lego on diplay, well it wasn't mini it was pretty big

It looks very nice.
Hopefully, some people will learn to appreciate its architectural values, as much as I do.

It is a sad reflection on the negativity of the citizens of Adelaide that a lot of people do not like the building. If this building was in a more progressive thinking capital city, people would love it.

I personally love it, it is a bold, fresh and revolutionary addition to the skyline. Adelaide needs modern looking high-rises, because I have noticed that a lot of the negative comments made by interstaters is based on the 1970's look of our skyline.

I think I still prefer your shots Pants. That last lot you posted in November are spectacular. They aren't distorted from thousands of bucks worth of equipment. Still nice and affective for a great & affective building.

WOw those last pics posted from the site are the ones that force you to say this is by far the best designed tower in Adelaide....no doubt.

I do really like this building, I just don't get how it is suppose to look like the hills, and I don't like the green round wing it has sticking out of it. But it is very unique.

you dont have to be a NIMBY to dislike the law courts, or any building or development for that matter.

for example, as some of you know, im opposed to some things happening down at the port (eg the heritage precinct of Newport Quays), but does that make me a NIMBY?

(ill inform you all on our organisation's proposal in coming months, if possible)

but i do like the Commonwealth Law Courts, except it looks like duplo :)
