Thanks for the pics. I think I've seen the last ones in the city hall or something, close to the star ferry terminal at central.

What is that building? The one which looks like a nest and you see boats going in and out of it. Is that a marina? Looks cool...

Do you mean the last picture?
If yes, it's Disneyland (Lantau Island)
hey isn't photographing in Museum of History not allowed?

The very last picture doesnt load. Dont know why. I meant that structure with a semitransparent roof and a ''lake'' inside the structure. It looks like its beside Union Square.

I'm trying to remember whether the first two came from the Museum of History or the Heritage Museum. I have no problems taking photos in the Museum of History, and some areas or the Heritage Museum don't allow photography.

ignoramus, that building is designed by Norma Foster. It is expected to finish in 2011 (construction starts in 2007). And i am sure it will be more famous than the Sydney Opera house when finished.
for info: http://www.hplb.gov.hk/wkcd

i have pics of the hk city model just like the first one (the whole city), but it is a updated one with the detail of the second one. I believe only a few (or possibly none) in this forum has seen it. It was shown in city hall (in the high block building) for only like a week during the opening of the infrastructure center. Well, maybe they put it somewhere else after that, i am not sure.

So its an opera house? It seems much too ''open'' to be a opera house, doesn't seem to have enough space for a concert hall or theatre...It looks like a big tent over a marina.

Was that a recently approved project? Why will it be more famous than the great dame of opera? How much does it cost? What will it be recognised for?

Love the designs by Sir Norman Foster though.

Foster won an international architectural competition to design the West Kowloon Cultural district. The canopy is a major centerpiece of the development. There are other developments along with it. The site has already been zoned for cultural use but the actual contracts and the final design are still under discussion.

The hk one is at least 5 times larger than the one in sydney in terms of site area. The canopy is not short at all. The peak reach something like 130m (i forgot the exact #), the shortest is 58m. So there are buildings under the canopy with their own design. And the website i gave you say it all. It contains any possible stuff that you can think of about culture (concert hall, opera house, museum clusters, shopping malls, entertainment facilities .....)
