1. First thought was 'Damn hot here!'. At the luggage belt, we noticed an Emaar sign that read 'Working hard on tomorrow's world's biggest-to-do list' and a guy was holding a list that started with '1. Burj Dubai'. Unfortunately I hadn't seen it after that.

2. Not really, I like the heat, allthough it's not a swell thing to hang out in the sun too long during the day.

3. In short, Abu Dhabi is UAE national capital, Dubai is UAE international capital en Sjarjah seems to be a commuter town of Dubai, allthough it's very impressive by itself. Abu Dhabi seemed more indigenous with many Mosques in between the towers and many people joining in during prayer time which is fun if you are a tourist for you feel like you're in Arabia. But then again, old Deira really adds another dimension to Dubai as well. The Dubai story is extremely fascinating, I'm reading books about this phenomenen right now. There seems to be more sense to Dubai's explosive growth then meets the eye, of which there is a good deal to learn for us, especially when it comes to leadership and taking and giving responsibility.

Did we enjoy? Oh yeah. I'll definitly be checking this one out again some time.

I really enjoyed my visit to the UAE!

1. The airport itself was smaller than I expected, a very nice terminal though. On the way to our hotel we've noticed the first Emaar banners, they are everywhere. It was just a short drive to our hotel at the Sheikh Zayed Road. The hotel looked very cool during the night.

2. It was quite hot, especially the first two days when the humidity was very high. With airco everywhere it is okay, but you don't walk for hours. I'm wondering how Trances did all his updates in summer.

3. Can't really compare these 3 cities, we had only a short visit to Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Dubai very international, sometimes you don't even notice that you're in an arab country (for example in the Bur Juman mall). The contrast between the slick malls and the old Deira center is pretty stunning.
Abu Dhabi has a more arab look, many mosques and not everything is translated in english. The density in Abu Dhabi is impressive, but most buildings are pretty bland. When we first drove through Sharjah (direction Ajman) the impression was not to good. A lot of cheap high-rise buildings along the highway. The roundabout with the Koran in the middle is impressive, although the buildings are not really my taste. The corniche in Sharjah is very nice. Sharjah was really a surprise.
