The main bridges across from street 271 to Pet Long Sang intersection flyover.

i think they will choose design 7 (alternative), in case they can not solve the problem with people live in that area.

But i like the design 7.

Perhaps they mean the road under Steung Mean Chey bridge is underpass

If so, it is failure to call it underpass :)

Look like they build 3 levels of flyover in the design 2.

I think the second picture which is similar to the drawing that P.M. show on the opening day of 7 Makara Flyover.

For the second picture or Alternative 7, it is complicated to build but looks nice after completion. Two flyovers and one sub flyover, and one underpass will be built.

-First flyover extends on Street 271.
-Second flyover extend on Monireth Blv below the first flyover.
-One sub flyover which connect the first flyover to Monireth blv next to the existing bridge.
-Underpass (green color)is built under the second flyover for the traveler from Steung Mean Chey area to turn left to Street 271

What I am trying to suggest is that the layout should be similar. Due to low speed in residential area, turning radius should not be as big. Elevate the sections that are in the residential area as needed. Comparing the two areas, they are similar in size and the design should be flexible and visionary. We should not have to tear down this when the need becomes bigger. It will cost a lot more, but the benefits will justify it.

3rd Flyover To Be Constructed in 2 Phases
Thursday, 12 Jan 2012 08:01
After gaining approval from the Head of the Royal Government of Cambodia,
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN Sen on Stung Mean Chey flyover project construction during the official inauguration of 7th January Flyover, OCIC engineers as well as expert officials of Phnom Penh Capital Hall (Department of Public Works) are preparing to kick start this new project.

It is observed that because traffic situation at Stung Mean Chey intersection is very complicated and is frequently congested, Phnom Penh Authority requested for permission from Samdech Techo to conduct the study.

Through a long term study and many times discussions, Phnom Penh Capital Hall, Department of Public Works, OCIC and SINOPACIFIC Company found an ideal solution among the six in which we have to build one flyover in Stung Meanchy commune (Meanchy District), Tomnub Tuk (Chamkar Morn District) and in Boeung Salang commune (Toul Kork District). The last solution has been the best strategic one which could address all types of traffic issues. The construction will be carried out steps by steps according to financial ability.

The 3rd Flyover construction consists of following constructions:

* One main concrete flyover, above Road 271 at the traffic light, consisting of 14.80 m width, two opposite directions with two lanes in each;
* Two connecting concrete flyovers, one way, which is 6.50m width and another one of 8m width;
* Asphalt layer on both sides of the bridges, width from 5.50m to 7m and pavement 3m;
* Safety high under the bridge is 5.20m;
* Other constructions such as drainage, concrete revetments, gardens, middle bridge dividers, light poles installation, and traffic sign painting etc.

The construction will be carried out in 2 phases:
-1st Phase: build 2 main flyovers and 1 underground gateway, totally spending 18 month to complete with budge expenditure about 12 Million US Dollars.
-2nd Phase: build one connecting flyover and other 2 flyovers across the dams, spending 8 months to complete with budget expenditure of about 5 Million US Dollars.

When Samdech stated about the 3rd Flyover construction, Samdech also stressed about the sourcesof the construction budget which is about 18 Million US Dollars coming from Chroy Chang Va Development Project under acknowledge-able recommendations of Samdech, “City Projects, Supports City Development”.

one from PP to Siem Reap and one from PP to Sihanoukville. These roads should be next to the existing ones; each road is unidirectional. This will definite facilitate travel for tourists.

Our gov already secured a Chinese loan to widen national road 6A from PP to Siem Reap. It will be an expressway/freeway from pp to Skun and 17m wide from Skun to Siem Reap.

Phnom Penh’s Third Flyover To Be Built in June

AKP Phnom Penh, May 25, 2012 –

The construction of the third flyover in Phnom Penh Capital, Stung Meanchey Flyover, is expected to begin after the Commune/Sangkat Council Election in June, said here on Thursday an official of Phnom Penh Municipality following a meeting on the construction plan.

According to the plan, the construction will be divided into two phases. The first phase will take 18 months at the total cost of US$17,770,000 and the second phase will take 8 months at the total cost of US$4,975,000.

This will be the third pass-over bridge in Cambodia after the second flyover “January 7”, which was opened into traffic in early this year. The first one was built along Preah Monivong Blvd. adjacent to Preah Monivong Bridge.

Phom Penh Governor: Construction of Capital’s Third Flyover To Begin Next Month

AKP Phnom Penh, August 30, 2012 –

The construction of the Stung Meanchey Flyover, is expected to begin in mid September, said here on Tuesday Phnom Penh Governor H.E. Kep Chuktema, at an inspection tour to the construction site.

The upcoming groundbreaking ceremony will be presided over by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, he underlined.

According to the plan, the construction would cost around US$17 million and take 26 months.

The Stung Meanchey Flyover will be the third pass-over bridge in Cambodia after the second flyover “January 7”, which was opened into traffic early this year. The first one was built along Preah Monivong Blvd. adjacent to Preah Monivong Bridge.

Cambodia on Monday broke ground for the construction of a $19-million flyover in Phnom Penh's southwestern part to meet the growing number of vehicles.

Prime Minister Hun Sen said it will take 28 months to complete the construction of the 429-meter flyover.

"The sky bridge will not only help ease traffic congestion, but also uplift the beauty of the city," he said at the groundbreaking ceremony.

The premier said that currently the city has more than one million motorcycles and nearly a million cars, buses and trucks.

It will be the third flyover in the kingdom. The first one was inaugurated in June 2010 and the second one opened to traffic in January 2012.

After its postponement more than two months ago, the third bridge and overpass project at Stueng Mean Chey saw ground broken on Monday by Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The new bridge will cost $19 million and take developer OCIC 28 months to build.

Prime Minister Hun Sen said the new bridge will help to reduce traffic jams in the area of Stueng Mean Chey, Chamkarmorn and Toul Kork.

“Skybridge Stueng Mean Chey is a main point to connect 3 Khan (district) in Phnom Penh, sangkat Stueng Mean Chey in Khan Mean Chey, sangkat Tomnob Teuk in khan Chamkarmon and sangkat Boeung Salang in khan Toul Kork,” Hun Sen said.

“We must build this bridge because this area has traffic jams throughout the day.”

The project will reportedly resemble a butterfly when complete.

The Stueng Mean Chey overpass is the third of its kind in Cambodia after the first at Kbal Thal that cost $6.4 million and the Seven Makara bridge, that cost $8.7 million.

Not dream. We just signed a US$100 million lighting system with French company a few months ago. They will make lighting cost cheaper and more attractive

You see. Criticism works. Many others and I have been criticizing PPP by writing to them few times on this matter.
