"அடிப்படை வசதிகள் விரைவில் செய்யப்படும்' என அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவித்ததை அடுத்து, போராட்டத்தை வியாபாரிகள் கைவிட்டனர்.
கண்காணிப்பாளர் மணி கூறுகையில், ""நிலையான மஞ்சள் குடோன் கருமாண்டிசெல்லிபாளையம் பகுதியில் கட்டப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
வியாபாரிகளுக்கு தேவையான அனைத்து வசதிகளும் அங்கு செய்து தரப்படும். நாளை (இன்று) முதல் வழக்கம் போல் மஞ்சள் ஏலம் நடக்கும்,'' என்றார். ஏலம் புறக்கணிப்பால் இரண்டு கோடி ரூபாய் வரை வர்த்தம் பாதிக்கப்பட்டது.

Traders boycott process in protest against certain procedures

The turmeric auction in the regulated markets in Erode district was affected on Monday and Tuesday as traders boycotted the process protesting against certain procedures followed by the marketing committee authorities.

It was said that the authorities were not allowing the traders to withdraw their misplaced quotes. In the normal circumstances, the traders place a bid mentioning the lot number and if it is the highest bid, he will be awarded.

“In case, the trader has incorrectly mentioned the lot number, the authorities should allow him to withdraw his bid. But the committee insists that the trader has no right to withdraw his bid after he has placed it. This procedure is totally unacceptable to us,” traders said.

Erode Turmeric Merchants Association President, RKV Ravishankar said that the traders have the right to withdraw the bid immediately if they had mentioned the wrong lot number.

“We do not quote the wrong lot number purposefully. It's a human error,” he argued.

To register their protest, traders did not participate in the auction held on Monday and Tuesday. Meanwhile, officials conducted a meeting with the traders to discuss the issue on Tuesday.

“Traders have agreed to participate in the auction, which will resume on January 11,” Superintendent of the committee N. Mani said.

Mr. Mani, however, claimed that the traders boycotted the auction protesting against the lack of amenities including drinking water provisions, lighting and toilets in the market premises.

“We have assured the traders that these issues will be addressed immediately,” he said. Mr. Ravishankar, who participated in the meeting, said the officials had promised to address the problem regarding the quoting of wrong lot number.

“The officials are yet to accept our demand formally. We are not totally pleased with the outcome of the meeting. But we will participate in the auction on January 11 and wait for the officials to sort out the problem,” he told The Hindu .

today i supposed to see the new showroom for Royal Enfield is under work near Sengodampallam-Thindal area next to TIPS(The Indian Public School) & BeeZ World on Perundurai Road........

Broken concrete benches, dysfunctional fountain, wild plants and damaged playground equipment welcome children at many parks in Erode district.

The equipment like slides, see-saw and swings almost damaged. Wild growths cover most of the area. Some of the parks like the one at Vellottamparappu town panchayat remain closed for years together. The municipal parks in Kollampalayam, Gobichettipalayam and a few others in the district had been turned into mini garbage dumps.

A few parks in the district have also become refuge for anti-social elements.

Social well-being

“The parks are established in the residential areas primarily to encourage children socialise with their counterparts. Social and emotional well-being is perhaps the most significant part of a child's development,” child specialists here say.

“Children require opportunities to mix with others of similar age in order to develop friendships, learn social skills, solve problems and share their experiences. The parks provide such opportunities. The authorities should make sure that all the parks are open and maintained well,” S. Gunasekaran, a parent in Erode, said.

Collector V.K. Shanmugam said that he would instruct the authorities to take immediate steps to ensure proper maintenance of all the children's parks in the district. “We will also take steps to re-open the parks that remain closed for long,” Mr. Shanmugam added.

I think the Kollampalayam park has been renovated some years back, but after that they didn't opened it for public. so again it became a dump yard.... (You can see the news regarding that in Hindu, just by typing Erode Kollampalayam Park in Google)....

I feel, atleast the Kollampalayam park should be renovated and maintained regularly, since it is located in the core city.......

Thousands thronged temples, tourist spots and recreation centres in Erode district on Tuesday, when Kaanum Pongal was celebrated on the third day of the Pongal festival.

The VOC Park, earlier called PEOPLES' PARK grounds in Erode Town was full to the brim. Women greeted each other and exchanged sweets. Several fun games were held for the visitors. Special rituals were performed at all the famous temples in the town.

The cinema halls in the city also ran jam-packed. The town was also marked with colourful blocks of Kolam drawn in front of houses.

In the rural areas, the festival had a marked earthy touch.

The parks at Bhavanisagar reservoir, Kodiveri anaicut, Gunderipallam dam, Jedarpalayam Check dam, Vendipalayam Barrage dam also saw huge crowd. Farmers in most parts of the district celebrated the day by distributing food and clothes to the labourers who helped them harvest crops.

A 15-day district level Handloom Exhibition organised by Co-optex has begun at the VPV Mahal here on Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police S. Paner Selvam inaugurated the exhibition, which was organised to promote handloom industry in Erode and neighbouring districts.

Display

Beautifully woven handloom saris from different parts of the State, cotton saris from Madurai, mixed cotton saris, dhotis, towels and shawls from Salem, bed-spreads and blankets from Erode and Karur, jamakkalams from Bhavani, shirts are among the handloom goods that were on display at the exhibition.

The newly introduced cloth varieties by Co-optex in the recent months were also available at the exhibition.

Organisers have said that a sales target of Rs.25 lakh has been fixed for the exhibition. Weavers cooperative societies from Erode and various other districts are participating in the exhibition. Customers are eligible for a special discount of 30 per cent on all the purchases made at the exhibition, which would be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. till January 31. Co-optex regional manager C. Singaram, BVB School correspondent L.M. Ramakrishnan and senior officials were present.

தற்போது ஏராளமான ஏக்கரில் மஞ்சள் பயிரிடப்பட்டுள்ளதால், இந்தாண்டு மஞ்சள் வரத்து கூடுதலாகும். அதற்கு தேவையான குடோன் வசதி கூடுதலாக தேவைப்படும்.

நாட்டில் புலிகளின் எண்ணிக்கை குறைந்து வருவதை தடுக்க மத்திய வனம் மற்றும் சுற்றுச்சூழல் அமைச்சகம் பல்வேறு நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளது. புலிகளை இனவிருத்தி செய்யும் வகையிலும், வேட்டையாடப்படுவதை தடுக்கும் வகையிலும் நாடு முழுவதும் சரணாலயங்கள் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.
தற்போது நாட்டில் மொத்தம் 39 புலிகள் சரணாலயங்கள் உள்ளன. இதன் எண்ணிக்கையை அதிகப்படுத்த மத்திய வனத்துறை அமைச்சகம் முடிவு செய்துள்ளது. இதன்படி தமிழகத்தில் ஈரோடு மாவட்டம் சத்தியமங்கலம் வனப்பகுதி கர்நாடக மாநிலம் பி.ஆர்.ஹில்ஸ், உத்திரபிரதேசத்தில் பிலிப்பிட் வனப்பகுதி உள்பட மொத்தம் 8 இடங்களில் புலிகள் சரணாலயங்கள் அமைக்க நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளது.
சத்தியமங்கலம் வனப்பகுதியில் கடைசியாக நடத்தப்பட்ட கணக்கெடுப்பின் படி 11 புலிகள் இருப்பதாக கண்டறியப்பட்டுள்ளது. சத்தியமங்கலம் வனப்பகுதி கர்நாட மாநிலம் வரை உள்ளதால் இருமாநில வனப்பகுதிக்கும் சேர்த்து சத்தியமங்கலத்தில் புலிகள் சரணாலயம் அமைக்க முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதனிடையே புலிகள் சரணாலயம் அமைக்கும் பட்சத்தில் சரணாலயத்தை சுற்றி குறிப்பிட்ட கிலோமீட்டர் சுற்றுளவுக்கு மக்கள் நடமாட்டம் இருக்க கூடாது என்பதால் தடை செய்யப்பட்ட பகுதிகளாக அறிவிக்கும் நிலை ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது.
இதனால் மலைவாழ் மக்கள் மற்றும் மலையை சுற்றி சமவெளியில் விவசாயம் செய்து வரும் விவசாயிகளின் வாழ்வாதாரங்கள் பாதிக்க வாய்ப்பு உள்ளதாக விவசாயிகள் அச்சம் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.

Census of wetland birds began at Vellode Bird Sanctuary in Erode, and lakes/tanks in Coimbatore districts on Friday.

The exercise is part of the Asian Water Bird Census conducted by Wetlands International in South Asia from January 14 to 29.

It is coordinated by Bombay Natural History Society in India.

In Coimbatore, the Conservator of Forests – Coimbatore Circle, V.T. Kandasamy, and District Forest Officer V. Thirunavukkarasu, have entrusted the work of coordinating the same to Osai, a non-governmental organisation involved in conservation of nature.

According to K. Kalidasan, president of OSAI, the wetland bird census was done at Ukkadam Big Tank, Valankulam, Singanallur, Kurichi, Sulur big tank, small tank and Ramachandra tank, Pallapalayam, Kannampalayam, Irugur, Vellalore, Putuvikki, Perur big and small tank, Vedapatti, Narasampathy, Krishnampathy, Sengulam, Muthannankulam, and Selvampathy, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Mr. Kalidasan said that by ascertaining the types and number of birds, one would be able to know the condition of a water body.

This would help in planning the conservation strategies for the wetlands. Organisations involved in the drive were ECO Club of the PSG Group of Educational Institutions, Save Coimbatore Wetlands, Salim Ali Naturalist Forum, Eco Conservation Group, and Wild Wing Society.

C.R. Jayaprakash, a nature enthusiast from the Eco Club of PSG Institutions said: “As a part of the census, I went for a bird count at Irugur tank. Nearly 75 per cent of the tank surface was covered with water hyacinth and I could spot only very few birds. When I checked the outlet, I was shocked to see the water white in colour and that too covered with foam.”

Egrets, little cormorant, darters or snakebirds were some of the species of birds spotted in large numbers at the Vellode Bird sanctuary in Erode district on Saturday.

Teams of forest personnel watched a significant number of night heron, painted stork, common coot, white breasted kingfisher, common sandpiper, Indian roller and common teal inside the sanctuary which is spread over 77.18 hectares.

“In the previous census, we found 93 species of birds in the sanctuary. Some of them including painted stork are migratory birds, while a majority are resident,” Conservator of Forests, Erode circle, D. Arun told The Hindu .

Teams comprising forest rangers, guards, anti-poaching watchers and others carried out the operation from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. to monitor birds flying out and those flying in.

“We will be carrying out the same process on January 22 to ascertain the accuracy of the data collected today,” Mr. Arun said.

The bird population looks healthy this season as the sanctuary presents a good environment that has adequate water with feeding provisions, he added.

தமிழகம் முழுவதும் ஆண்டுதோறும் ஜனவரி மாதம் பறவைகள் சரணாயலங்களில் கணக்கெடுப்பு நடத்துவது வழக்கமாகும். இதன்படி நேற்று ஈரோடு அடுத்துள்ள வெள்ளோடு பறவைகள் சரணாயத்தில் கணக்கெடுக்கும் பணி தொடங்கியது. இப்பணியை மண்டல வன பாதுகாவலர் அருண் தொடங்கி வைத்தார். பின்னர் அவர் கூறியதாவது:

வெள்ளோடு பறவைகள் சரணாலயம் கடந்த 11 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு அமைக்கப்பட்டது.
77 எக்டர் பரப்பளவில் அமைந்துள்ள இந்த சரணாலயத்தில் 93 வகையான பறவைகள் உள்ளன.
கடந்த ஆண்டு நடத்தப்பட்ட கணக்கெடுப்பின்படி 93 வகையான 31 ஆயிரம் பறவைகள் இருப்பது தெரியவந்தது. இன்று(நேற்று) காலையில் நடத்தப்பட்ட கணக்ககெடுப்பின் படி 51 வகையான 20 ஆயிரம் பறவைகள் கணக்கெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இந்த கணக்கெடுப்பில் 16 பேர் 4 குழுக்களாக பிரிந்து ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர். 120 வகையிலான பறவைகளில் வெள்ளோட்டில் 93 வகைகள் உள்ளன.
கணக்கெடுக்கும் பணியை மேலும் ஒரு நாளைக்கு நாளை(இன்று) வரை நீட்டிக்கவும் முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதனால் துல்லியமாக கணக்கிட முடியும். இவ்வாறு அருண் கூறினார்.

ஈரோடு மாவட்டத்தில் ஏராளமான சுற்றுலாத்தலங்கள் உள்ளன. குறிப்பாக ஈரோட்டில் இருந்து 12 கி.மீட்டரில் பவானி சங்கமேஸ்வரர் கோவில், வெள்ளோட்டில் பறவைகள் சரணாலயம், ஈரோட்டில் 1987ல் உருவாக்கிய சோழர், கொங்கு வரலாற்றுச் சுவடுகள் உள்பட ஏராளமான தகவல்களை கூறும் அரசு அருங்காட்சியகம், ஈ.வெ.ரா., இல்லம், 70 கி.மீட்டரில் தொலைவில் சத்தி அருகே ஸ்ரீபண்ணாரி அம்மன் கோவில், 50 கி.மீட்டரில் காங்கேயம் அருகே சிவன்மலை, கொடுமுடியில் ஸ்ரீ மகுடேஸ்வரர் கோவில் ஆகியவை அமைந்துள்ளன. ஈரோட்டிலிருந்து 55 கி.மீ., தொலைவில் கோபி அருகே கொடிவேரி அணை, சத்தியிலிருந்து 16 கி.மீ., தொலைவில் பவானிசாகர் அணை ஆகியவை அமைந்துள்ளன.சுற்றுலாத்துறையின் மூலம் சுற்றுலா மையங்களாக அடையாளம் காணப்பட்ட இந்த இடங்களுக்கு ஆண்டுதோறும் ஏராளாமன வெளியூர், வெளிமாநிலம் மட்டுமின்றி வெளிநாடுகளைச் சேர்ந்த சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகளும் வந்துகொண்டிருந்தனர்.

The favourite hangout of children of the residential areas in and around Molagoundanpalayam is now in a state of utter neglect, its degeneration taking place in phases. It was the artificial fountain that gave away first.

“The park was a children's paradise. There used to be at least 20 to 30 of them playing here every evening. They could be seen playing under the shades of trees. Gunasekaran, who stays in the area, says.

The park was set up by the Kasipalayam Municipality, which was merged with Erode Corporation recently.

Repeated pleas

People in the area earlier made repeated representations to the municipal authorities to carry out repairs and re-open the park.

But the municipal authorities made no fruitful efforts in this regard, residents say.

“We now want the Corporation to take over the park and install play equipment afresh, restore the fountain and remove the overgrown bushes. The re-opening of the park will provide opportunities for the children in the area to spend their leisure fruitfully,” S. Kannan, another resident, says.

Children require opportunities to mix with their peers to develop friendships, learn social skills, solve problems and share their experiences. Parks such as these had provided that opportunity, many parents say.

Corporation officials, when contacted, assured that steps would be taken to carry out repairs and re-open the park.

“We will make sure that the park is open and well-maintained,” they said.

Bro Royal theater looks gud in recent days, wat i heard from my friend. Painted n air condioned gud sound effect. And watched Vishwaroopam in VSP around 35th day of release balcony 100 rupees :nuts: and Last bond movie its quality is not that much gud na.

And chandika is planning to build a mini theatre in front side around 250 seats.

Srinivasha became very bad... Abirami complex as always its gud till date... but there are now big hits in recent time.

And soon they are going to construct a big showroom along with Service Station in their own land near Thindal Medu (Vidya Nagar)....
