this is the info on their homepage

for those who can't read it :D ;)

In July 2004 the contract signed with ACICO, Emirates Aerated Concrete, includes the construction of a 5 star luxury high rise hotel in Sheikh Zayed Road, one of the top addresses in Dubai.
gmp builds a first class business hotel with 500 rooms – ranging from generous standard rooms to 300 m² large presidential suites.
Theme restaurants with fancy foods from all over the world and fitness rooms with spa and health club enlarge the service of this new hotel.
The 45.000 m² gross floor area of the building are stretched over 52 floors. With a width of only 18 me-tres and a total hight of almost 200 metres the building with its slender elegance will stand out from the other buildings in the boulevard.
Beside the 5 star hotel with restaurants and fitness club the building offers office space and service apartments with ocean view.
Completion is scheduled for 2007.

Dubai-Lover
November 2nd, 2004, 08:19 PM
yes, some kind of similarity there
it also reminds me of a tower that was once posted in thr projects & updates forum

its not the same render in construction week. The CW one was an azure green and it was 60 stories not 52 as shown here. Maybe there were 2 proposals and this is the winning one.
Dennis try to get a height to top of spire if you can

SA BOY
November 3rd, 2004, 05:41 AM

SA BOY
November 10th, 2004, 06:46 AM
It is green in the CW article and is longer , width is about the same and height is about the same. It also has a spire at the top. The green glass is translucent so you can see in the rooms sort off. The backgounds shows API tower so its on that big site next to Park place

Dubai-Lover
February 12th, 2005, 08:11 AM
contacted two times already and all for nothing
normally it can't be this plot! because on the little board it says commercial + residential tower and a couple of companies are listed, but not gmp architects!

also too far away from park place, so the 60 floor hotel is not this tower (http://skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=115670)

SA BOY

yep.. I saw it as well..... Its right next to White Crown (or the KFC Building) and there was a crane on the plot last night. Within 5 days they have successfully sealed off the area and now there is a crane up as well. They must be in some sort of rush! Cool! lol

I found this:
Applications for the pre qualification have been invited by may 22 for the construction of a 5* hotel and mixed use development on Sheikh Zayed Highway. The hotal will have a biult up area of 60000 sq. metre and entails the construction of a 513, 52 storey tower 200 metres in height with a width of just 18 m. The mixed use high rise building next to it will have a built up area of 56000 sq metres. Work is scheduled for completeion by the first quarter of 2007.

Yes I've seen that, and today there was a crane and a driller working on the site of this hotel.

However, I was asking about a crowler drill standing (today also) just next to Crown Plazza. I though you might know if something is planed there.

I think this should move to U/C as there is enough evidence to sugest it. Ill add the immages today and ammend.
Also GMP will be the design architect and Dimentions will be the Architect of Record. Any chance of getting heights from dimentions?

SA BOY
July 5th, 2005, 08:33 AM
They actually have links to Emporis so they know who we are, Might be worth contacting them to get official heights of towers seeing as they know we are not a bunch of building nutters.
Something else, I reacon that 110F tower is actually in Park Square, as it talks of prominent SZR area ( no where near the marina) and the background shows bland towers more like the ones in Zabeel etc

Krazy
July 5th, 2005, 08:37 AM
Ok sounds good. Please update emporis with the status and also edit the tower to split it into two towers of 60f and 55f. Dont forget to link the companies you mentioned and also the construction updates. Meanwhile, I will contact dimensions from my emporis account and try to find out the heights but dont expect anything from dimensions, they have a reputation of not replying to emails. If you want, you can contact them via phone but let's give email a try first.

If you're refering to the white/blue fence further back from the road, then that is ALSO part of the Park Place site and it was fenced since March when Park Place's core started rising.

Here is the full translation of the article:

According to albayan newspaper asico international a company owned by Kuwaiti investors, they will invest more that 500Million dirham to develop 2 towers one of which will contain offices and 134 apartments, and second tower will be the biggest 5 star hotel in Dubai with 512 rooms. Both towers will be located at sheik zayed road and they will be ready early 2007.

The hotel towers will 60 floors high and it will reach 270M, the other is 50 floor high 23 floors offices + 23 floor apartments (134 apartments) .

According to Hisham Abdul Alghani the director of dimensions for engineering consulting services (which they are in charge of the project with a German company called BRT) the tower will most probably hold the name of asico town towers.

I would rather note it as never built as deleting a building is not good. There are many cases of Never Built towers options I have added to emporis which eventually got built, the most famous is the Atkins version of PP

Dubai-Lover
August 16th, 2005, 06:52 PM
i'd say let's delete it and once we're sure what it's all about we can still add it as never-built
i've never understood why never-builts can be added to the database, completely uninteresting, as well as visions
what is it good for? it's useless
look at the chicago page, tons of never-builts and visions destroy the nice listing

we could consider any rendering we find on architects websites or whereever as a proposal
imagine we would add all these to the database, what a mess of pipedream towers mixing up the whole database

in my opinion try to avoid to add such buildings, they destroy the nice order we have in the dubai section on emporis
probably the only city with such a boom and we're able to handle all this because we're extremely up to date!

SA BOY
August 17th, 2005, 08:11 AM

wow unbelieveable without any hole? maybe SA boy can tell us what's this about.

SA BOY
October 2nd, 2005, 09:55 AM
well boys there could be a few reasons for this, firstly there is no need for a basement or sub basement so no need to excavate down say 4 m to start the piling process. The building could have its ground floor as the lowest floor . You can also pile down from ground and then excavate afterwards by bobcat (less likley) but I must admit its strange that they have piled on grade and then sdtarted colums( are we sure its the right tower and not the parking structure or something), anyways normally (like park place) you excavete down 4m or so, pile down from -4 (in relation to ground) say 45m with the piles. let them cure then break the pile head open and build pile caps, after pile caps you would construct a massive raft (PP was 3.7m thick).
Thats a basic overview

dubaiflo
October 2nd, 2005, 01:51 PM
ok thanks.well this must be the towers, doubt it is basement structure or parking between the two.

Nikko work awarded
CONSTRUCTION UAE
26 May 2006

The Kuwaiti/Australian joint venture of Ghassan Ahmad al-Khaled and Kele Construction has been awarded the estimated AED 450 million ($123 million) main construction contract on the Nikko hotel and office tower project on Shaikh Zayed road in Dubai. Bids were submitted late last year (MEED 15:7:05).

The scope of works covers two plots with a total footprint of 2,000 square metres. The hotel will have a built-up area of 60,000 square metres and entails construction of a 513-room, 52-storey tower 200 metres in height with a width of just 18 metres. The mixed-use, high-rise building next to it will have a built-up area of 56,000 square metres.

The local/Turkish joint venture of Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises and STFA Soil Group has completed the excavation, dewatering and piling contract. The UK’s Faithful & Gould is acting as project manager; Germany’s BRT (Bothe Richter Teherani) is the architect; and Emirates Aerated Concrete is the client.
