Ministeeriumite Ühishoone is planned new midrise,which will be built next to old financial ministry building (built in 1970s) and will be connected to it with skybridge.

After competition was held in 2007,project progressed very slowly. In last year things sped up and construction will begin in 2013. There have been several proposals for it's use,but by current decision new building will be used for housing Ministries of the Interior,Finance,Social Affairs and Economics & Communication. Building is located at Suur-Ameerika 1,Downtown.

Not really sure how do I regard this project. The current cladding does look cheap, but the building itself is one of the nicest of its time and kind.

On the other hand the homogeneous look of the two towers is good. It wouldn't look nice if they constructed the second tower mimicking the style of the old one, or just building a new, modern looking tower next to the old one.

a kuuldavasti on maja seest täiesti pekkis - ju siis polnud finantsiliselt mõtet vaevuda suure hädaga vähemalt fassaadigi päästa.

^^ Nii et tõmmatakse vana maja lihtsalt maja ja ehitatakse asemele 2 uut? Sel juhul mõjub taoline hoonete paigutus kuidagi eriti mannetult.

Project is slightly delayed - according to current estimates construction begins in second half of 2013 and Ministeeriumite Ühishoone will be completed by 2015.

So, are they keeping the old tower or not? If not, then why are they keeping the Ameerika st sides different from each other. They don't go together well imo. The concrete pattern looks great with the new glass design though.

Old tower will be demolished. It has some problems with it's structure (at least thats what i've heard).

I doubt that it's in so bad shape. Imho,it's easier to refurbish existing building than demolish it and build a whole new building in it's place.

Btw,I've seen few designs of midrise building planned on the other end of Lastestaadion or whatever that stadium is called. It would be really cool if Lastestaadion would be turned into decent football stadium and 'pilvelõhkujad' would surround it from both sides :happy:

why the hell they dont want to build two new boxes behind or front to current one. And leave the current building for any purpose or owner?
