thanks for the answer. I just know, that they want to fly to south Sudan. But ties between Rwanda and Sudan are improving. Rwanda opened an embassy, in KRT some years ago.

Hey Skytrax the new airport is currently On-Hold due to funding issues :ohno::ohno: and the current airport is having a lot of upgrades :banana::banana: you can see there is a photo of KRT from above you can see land drawings :cheers:

That specific IL-62, ST-OHO, is grounded currently. Some attempts were made to sell it.

I do hope she has a chance to takeoff again, this particular aircraft ST-OHO surely has had an interesting career from Soviet Aeroflot to fly the president of Georgia and to the sands of Sudan. Unfortunately that type is getting old and is expensive to operate, not to mention that it does not fulfill the latest noise requirements. For me atleast the noise of those engines is fantastic.

That IL-62 of Sudan Government is the newest and last 62 built, hopefully that too has a long career.

Wow, what a collection of rare aircraft. I would have not even though that visiting Khartoum would be that interested but it is. I especially like how they use all the space available to them at the airport including parking aircraft on the dirt areas. Thank you so much for sharing these rare images.
