Here's Windsor, Ontario, Canada for you guys, or the city south of Detroit in Canada as you might know it. I has a population of 212,000 and is growing quite nicely and has quite the nice skyline for a city of its size and its location as well.

better than i ever thought it was, and good for its size too...7/10

I'll give it 8.5 because considering the size of the city, it is kind of a large skyline. It just needs a little better balance.

I am giving it an 8/10, because it has a nice collection of buildings and for its size, not bad at all for 212,000.

De Snor, yes in one of the pics looking north, you do see Detroit.

I'm very impressed to say the least. 8.5/10 from me.
For its size, this skyline is great; I especially love the beautiful white building on the river.

Ah, that would be the Casino Windsor/Hotel, it is a very nice structure, and beautiful inside as well, you'll be impressed with that building if you saw it inside and out.

I have traveled through Windsor numerous times on my way to Toronto, but from the Peace Bridge you can't see downtown very well. Pretty good looking, especially for its size, but many censuses count Windsor as a part of metro Detroit.

Standing alone it's a 7/10.

I would really like to see some photos of the casino up close; hope some will be posted.

You mean the Ambassador Bridge, in Windsor/Detroit. The Peace Bridge borders Fort Erie, Ontario and Buffalo, New York (another major city).

That's ok, though, you must have meant the Ambassador Bridge.

You're right. I've actually crossed both numerous times. Crossing into Buffalo is much prettier than crossing into Detroit. And once you pass through customs in Detroit you have to drive around city streets in order to get on I-75. I don't know why they don't have a connection from the interstate to the bridge.

maybe your memory is lagging, but there is a direct connection from freeway to the ambassador.

Crossing into Detroit from Windsor on the Ambassador Bridge does feel a little more HaRdCoRe and BIG CITY like if you ask me with more grit and industrial land like, but you do see A LOT and many perspectives of both Windsor and Detroit good and bad. The southwest section of Detroit is growing and booming by what I have heard and seen. When I have been down there numerous times, I always just take the Tunnel Bus over for events in downtown D-dot.

I do agree, though, I think crossing the Peace Bridge into Buffalo from Fort Erie is prettier, though, because Buffalo kind of more less feels more like a small town when you cross over, but when you are on the I-190 Expwy, then you get to the big city and Buffalo's skyline is actually very large looking. I even crossed over the Peace Bridge with my bicycle this summer on a bike trip to Rochester, and I will tell you, Buffalo is not nearly as bad as you might think. In fact, a lot of Buffalo's historic neighborhoods remind me A LOT of my hometown of Stratford, Ontario. The Ambassador Bridge does not allow bicycles.

JRQ, here are a few pics of the Casino Windsor from different angles:

Thanks for the photos!. I never really realized how close Detroit was to Windsor until that photo taken from the Casino. Thats a really beautiful area with so much potential. The Casino is awesome as well.

I just realized that of all the pictures I've taken from around Windsor, I don't have one of the casino. I've never really cared for the design of it and it sure as hell doesn't blend in well with the housing projects that surround it. As for those pics, thank God that riverboat casino and its associated parking lots are gone.

Are you sure? I know the tunnel connects directly to 375 which turns into I-75... But I think when you come off the bridge you have to drive through city streets for a short time, then connect onto some freeway whose name/number I can't remember, and then take that freeway to I-75 which is kinda complicated for people who don't travel that way often. They shuold at least put signs saying "this way to I-75".

It's my city, and I'll give it a 6.5
I wish for taller buildings. I wish for something nicer. Get rid of some of the old uglies, and put in something better.
Other than that it's fairly decent.
